In 1979, TMLT was created by physician members of the Texas Medical Association to establish a source of affordable and stable malpractice insurance in Texas.

1993

TMLT was engaged throughout the tort reform process, continuing the effort it had been working on since 1993.

1994

TMLT has been endorsed by the Dallas County Medical Society since 1994.

1998

TMLT has been endorsed by the Harris County Medical Society since 1998.

1999

TMLT has been endorsed by the Bexar County Medical Society since 1999.

2002

TMLT has been endorsed by the Lubbock-Crosby-Garza County Medical Society since 2002.

2003

The AMA cited the medical liability reforms of 2003 as the reason for the improved conditions in Texas.

2005

On May 16, 2005, Texas was removed from the American Medical Association's (AMA) list of states in medical liability crisis.

2010

TMLT has been endorsed by the Collin-Fannin County Medical Society since 2010.

2012

TMLT has been endorsed by the Smith County Medical Society since 2012.

2013

TMLT has been endorsed by the Hidalgo-Starr County Medical Society since 2013.

2018

TMLT has been endorsed by the Big Country Medical Society since 2018.
