Required:

Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI/NCI) certification (within 90 days of hire)
Preferred:

Overview
A high-volume acute care hospital in South Florida is seeking an experienced Director of Surgical Services to provide strategic, clinical, and operational leadership across a comprehensive perioperative platform. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this role oversees multiple surgical departments and a large multidisciplinary team supporting complex, high-acuity surgical services.
This opportunity is ideal for a proven Surgical Services Director with deep acute care experience, strong financial acumen, and the ability to lead large teams in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Clinical Quality & Operations
Ensure delivery of high-quality, patient-centered perioperative care through evidence-based practice
Direct all surgical services operations, including OR, Pre-Op, PACU, Endoscopy, SPD, and PAT Clinic
Standardize workflows to reduce variation, improve efficiency, and control costs
Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and legal standards
Optimize patient throughput, scheduling efficiency, and perioperative flow
People Leadership
Provide leadership oversight for approximately 80 FTEs, including 3 direct-report managers
Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and professional development
Lead recruitment, retention, coaching, and succession planning initiatives
Ensure appropriate staffing models and clinical competencies
Growth & Strategy
Partner with physicians and executive leadership to expand surgical programs and service lines
Identify opportunities for new technologies, procedural growth, and market differentiation
Support surgical volume growth while maintaining quality and patient safety standards
Financial Management
Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and expense management for all perioperative services
Manage labor productivity, premium pay utilization, and staffing efficiency
