Texas Roadhouse company history timeline

1994

In 1994, Taylor sold his shares in Buckhead Mountain Grill to focus solely on Texas Roadhouse.

In 1994, three additional restaurants opened in Cincinnati; Ohio, Clearwater, Florida; and Sarasota, Florida.

1997

1997: Texas Roadhouse raises $5 million in a private placement.

1999

Together, the restaurants generated $71 million in revenue in 1999 and registered $4.4 million in net income.

2000

In December 2000, for instance, the company opened one of its 250-seat units in Columbia, South Carolina, its fourth restaurant in the state, adding to units already operating in Greenville, Spartanburg, and Anderson.

2003

In 2003, the company entered New Hampshire, opening a restaurant in Nashua.

2011

In September 2011, Texas Roadhouse started their international expansion with the first international location in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

2020

In April 2020, CEO Kent Taylor announced he would give up his base salary and bonus for the remainder of the calendar year in order to pay "front-line" employees amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

2021

After struggling with unbearable tinnitus, brought on by complications with COVID-19, Taylor died by suicide on March 18, 2021, at the age of 65.
