Major/Essential Functions
* Detects severe mental illness in all inmate interaction
* Mitigates inmate risk to self and others by utilizing Risk Management procedures
* General management of mentally ill and at-risk inmates.
* Process referrals to medical and mental health providers.
* Completes referrals to crisis management.
* Correct and thorough completion of all types of clinical interviews. Completes all daily documentation by the close of business each day.
* Reports inmate protection investigation (IPI) and inmate threats to others to security as instructed by Safe Prisons Plan.
* Processes cancellations of referrals to Behavioral Health Facilities.
* Assessments written based upon balanced clinical judgment.
* Effectively prioritizing job duties while maintaining risk management as a priority. Maintains monthly productivity numbers as set by Behavioral Health Management Team.
* Professionally completes other unit specific tasks including Suicide Prevention screening and Mental Health chain-in reminders.
* Conducts telehealth clinics as assigned by direct Supervisor or Senior Director of Outpatient Services.
* Ensures accurate and complete record of appropriate caseload reminders

Qualifications and requirements:

The highly visible incumbent is responsible for implementing the mission and vision of D'Youville University and the Division of Student Affairs while serving as a mental health advisor for the campus and licensed mental health provider for the student population. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who thrives amidst an everchanging and unpredictable work environment and will have demonstrated skills in the areas of mental health, personal counseling, student support, and holistic wellness.
This position will support Wellness programmatic efforts with the Project Director for Wellness Education and numerous campus partners to ensure that outreach within The Wellness Lodge aligns with current best practices. Evening and weekend hours may be required when the University is in session to manage workload and attend meetings and functions. The primary focus of the Mental Health Counselor will be to manage immediate student crisis situations, serve as the mental health advisor for the division, refer students to local care resources as needed, and to connect students with the care services provided to them through TimelyMD.
This position will have an opportunity to maintain a caseload of student clients if needed but scheduled clinical services are not the focus of this position. This 12-month position reports directly to the Dean of Students and is expected to work closely with all units within Student Affairs to ensure that the University is “student-ready” and that every student has the opportunity to be engaged outside of the classroom.

Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS) is seeking a Licensed Mental Health Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker to provide contracting counseling services to clients of The Collaboratory, a provider of health services in Albany's South End. The counseling services will be offered free of charge to clients, funded through the Highmark Blue Fund grant, and supervised by faculty and staff of ACPHS.
Services at The Collaboratory are delivered by ACPHS's Public Health Pharmacy Team (PHPT) and Trinity Alliance's Wellness Advocates Linking Communities (WALC) team. The mission of The Collaboratory is to leverage the talents of ACPHS students, faculty members, and partner organizations to help narrow health disparities in the South End. Our team of health care professionals includes pharmacists, educators, and current ACPHS students enrolled in the B.S. in Public Health program. Our goal is to leverage this new model of care to improve the health of our local community.
The counselor joining our team will be the first provider to offer mental health services in The Collaboratory, helping us launch an exciting new chapter of mental health services for the Albany community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide culturally competent, evidence-based counseling services, in-person at The Collaboratory.
Assess client needs and develop appropriate treatment plans.
Provide psychoeducation to Collaboratory clients and their families.
Consult and collaborate with ACPHS's care team.
Keep accurate records of client contact.

The Mental Health & Counseling Services Department offers confidential, individual and group mental health services in addition to campus-wide programming, intended to provide support, education, and healthy ways of coping with stressors and struggles.
The Mental Health Counselor will work with the student population to conduct mental health assessments, provide short-term individual and group therapy, make appropriate long-term referrals, and provide case management for students with a broad range of complex mental health concerns. Additional responsibilities include the following:
* Provide counseling, crisis assessment and intervention, and group counseling for students experiencing emotional or psychological distress;
* Develop programming and workshops to educate the student body about mental health issues, resources, response, and advocacy;
* Serve as a resource to faculty, staff and administration about appropriate and effective methods to respond to students in distress. Will create periodic workshops to educate members of the community on relevant mental health issues and provide recommendations for evidence-based responses;
* Establish partnerships and serve as liaison with mental health agencies, non-profits, community stakeholders, and other service providers.
* Assess students experiencing mental health crisis and provide clinically appropriate intervention to establish safety and connect to appropriate resources. Collaborate to develop appropriate system(s) of care for students in crisis and/or students requiring additional support services;
* Serve as one of the College's Title IX confidential reporters;

Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A Mental Health Counselor must possess a Master's Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or related field and have current New York State licensure to practice (i.e.: LMSW, LCSW, LMHC). At least 2 years professional experience in mental health field is required. The successful candidate must be effective functioning in a fast-paced, team-oriented, inclusive, and high accountability environment. This position also requires excellent knowledge of the field and the ability to clinically assess, evaluate, and refer students to on and off-campus resources. Knowledge and commitment to the goals and mission of the community college and evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students required, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom. The demonstrated ability to interact with a diverse staff is also required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Licensed Clinical Social Worker; PsyD or PhD in Counseling Psychology OR LCSW or LMHC with 5+ years higher education experience strongly preferred. It is also preferred that the successful candidate be bilingual in Spanish.
