Unit manager job at Texas Tech University
Manages a unit within a department. Plans, organizes and develops goals and procedures for the unit. Represents the unit to administrators, outside agencies and others on relevant matters. Supervises subordinate staff.
Create original cataloging and metadata in OCLC, Alma/Primo, and digital repositories.
Copy catalogs, edits metadata, imports metadata, and curates metadata in the libraries' Alma/Primo Discovery system.
Monitors and manages all CZ Alma/Primo updates and all library personnel maintaining bibliographic record updates.
Answers library reference questions, assists library patrons, and performs literature searches.
Tasks are performed in person, via telephone, via email, in library chat room, via STM, and using other web-based reference tools.
Teaches courses (both credit and non-credit), conducts orientations, provides on-demand instructional sessions, designs instructional modules, and teaches seminars for faculty, residents, community members, and students.
Advises and provides feedback related to departmental goals, policies, and procedures.
Personally demonstrate, display, and act in accordance with TTUHSCEP's values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork). Actively promote and encourage staff across the institution.
Remains current with all licensure, certifications and mandatory compliances and trainings required of this position.
Adhere to all TTUHSCEP policies, procedures and processes.
Performs all duties as assigned.
Master's degree in Library/Information Sciences from an ALA-accredited institution.
At least one year of experience working full-time in a health sciences library environment, and three years of experience working in an academic library's bibliographic management department.
Bilingual English/Spanish.
AHIP certification preferred, but not required.
Demonstrable experience using a major ILS/LMS, including experience teaching the system to others.
Demonstrable teaching skills.
Primo VE Administration Certification or ability to attain certification.
At least 3 years of full-time library bibliographic and link repair experience in a academic library with a mostly electronic collection.
Significant experience originally cataloging materials in foreign languages (Spanish language cataloging preferred).
Experience acting as a project manager for a system migration or a major library donation.
Knowledge of library purchasing practices.

Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club management staff to interpret and explain organizational mission, program objectives and standards, discuss issues, and provide/receive information. Maintain regular contact with members as needed with regards to discipline, and to provide advice and/or counseling.
External: Maintain contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in resolving problems and to publicize Club.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
· Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university preferred or a combination of education and experience
· Considerable knowledge of; the mission, objectives, policies, programs and procedures of Boys & Girls Clubs; of the principles and practices of non-profit organizations
· Demonstrated ability to organize, direct, plan, and coordinate operation; in personnel supervision, the recruitment and retention of key personnel; facility management; and budget management
· Must get CPR and First Aid Certification within first 3 months of employment
· Leadership skills, including negotiation, problem solving, decision making, and delegation
· Strong written and oral communication skills
· Ability to manage multiple tasks and to develop solutions to problems with limited supervision
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Club staff, subordinates, Board members, community groups, and other related agencies
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Exposure to outdoor weather conditions (hot and cold)
Standing/Sitting for extended periods of time
Exposure to periods of loud or excessive noise
