Major/Essential Functions Provides quality patient care in relation to the patient's prescribed diagnosis, treatment, age group, development and other identified needs. See patients in the clinics assigned and report findings and test results to attending physician; including genetic testing. Documents in EMR for billing and coding and ensures billing compliance
Assesses health status by performing the medical history, physical examination and psychosocial assessment
Reviews the finding of the history and physical, pertinent laboratory data, radiographic data, plan for further diagnosis and therapeutic management as outlined in collaboration with the attending physician
Schedules consultations, diagnostic tests or procedures, future appointments for patients in coordination with the attending physician. Provide onsite consults at UMC as needed
Provides health education to the patient and his/her family
Participates in formal and informal instruction of nursing students, medical students, residents, professional nurses, and other health professionals
Contributes to research efforts of department/section by: (1) identifying clinical problems amenable to research methods, and (2) collaborating in research projects. Applies pertinent research to clinical practice
Provides prenatal and postnatal care including, but not limited to, maternal/fetal health. Collaborates with other health care providers for management and referral of high risk pregnancies
Performs a variety of gynecological services, including annual well-woman exams, pap tests, and testing for sexually transmitted infections
Provides contraceptive counseling and management, treatment for vaginal infections and sexually transmitted infections, as well as pregnancy testing, options, counseling and preconception counseling
Orders and interprets diagnostic and anatomical tests
Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations
Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required.
Remains current with all licensure, certifications and mandatory compliances and trainings required of this position.

Required Qualifications
Graduation from a Physician Assistant's training program approved by the Council on Allied Health Education Accreditation of the American Medical Association
Current Physician Assistant license in the State of Texas or ability to transfer licensee to Texas
Certification as a Physician Assistant as evidenced by passing the examinations given by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants OR Graduation from an accredited school of nursing as a nurse practitioner from an approved certification program recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing
Current R.N. license as approved by the Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer license to Texas. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner from an approved certification program as recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer certification to Texas

At the direction of the financial aid manager establish, implement and monitor student loan processing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations.
Coordinate the importing and exporting of Direct Student Loan records via the financial aid delivery system and COD to ensure the accuracy of each student loan record. May assist the financial aid manager and director with SIS set-up for processing of student loans.
Work directly with the Department of Education and Finance and Administration office to oversee Student loan reconciliation.
Advise students and parents on the availability of financial aid, eligibility requirements and the application process.
Provide information on scholarship and loan options, alternative financing, and debt management.
Serve as a cross-functional backup to each of TTUHSC El Paso's Student Affairs Office(s) as directed. Provide counseling support to these units as needed while also serving as a liaison to Student Business Services.
Create/develop public presentations and distribute materials/communications used for financial aid, recruitment and retention purposes.
Plan and implement outreach programs and develop related publications.
Serve as a member of the appeals committee and reviews cases for all TTUHSC El Paso schools.
Serve as a senior file review specialist and processes quality assurance reviews.
Prepare and edit policy and procedure manuals to cover the conduct of the designated program(s); review and evaluate program(s), measuring impact on the success and retention of students served.
Required to remain current on U.S. tax rules, tax benefits for parents, tuition waivers, and consortium agreements.
Required to maintain knowledge related to federal, state, and institutional rules, regulations, and procedures related to student aid and loan programs.
