Great fun place to work. It's easy to fall in love with you job. And I love the food
In my experience the cons of working at TGI Fridays are, not being able to work overtime, having to constantly do other servers side work because they aren't doing it, and nobody is checking it. We get paid 2.13 an hour. And this location is very slow

They don't pay enough, and they don't want to give you enough hours to work.

Previously worked line cook at both Fridays and Applebees here. A microwave is used when the kitchen is behind. If the manager runs a tight ship, the only thing getting microwaved are toppings/things that explicitly need it like dips and mixes. The Fridays I worked at was good about this, the only thing ever really getting nuked was when someone ordered a well-done steak at an inconvenient time--"they don't care about the flavor anyway apparently." The Applebees I worked at was trash. Absolutely horrible. We never had enough prepped, all the ticket times at broil ran over hugely. Every so often someone would lose it and just walk out. Lots of chicken and steak got nuked there. tl;dr quality depends on ownership. One restaurant is rarely applicable to another.
I've never directly dealt with bad customers but I've had people order like buffalo chicken sandwiches and ***. We're not a *** deli, just order something that's on the menu. I get it if you want cheddar cheese instead of provolone but don't order traditional wings with "half drumsticks tossed in bbq and half wings tossed in buffalo"
We've had some pretty sketchy things happen in the kitchen. One time we didn't have any thawed out lobster tail so my manager had me microwave it and then grill it.
I get along well with almost every server but I've can easily lose my temper when I have to remake food that was sent to the wrong table. We have an open kitchen at the Fridays I'm at so there are few altercations since we are right in front of the guests.
I do, usually, i have a tendancy to go in happy and then get in a *** mood basically as soon as i walk in, usually due to being put in a huge section, or getting a booking of children, or working with somebody hungover or drunk. but most of them time i do. hahah a customer from hell.... how long have you got... well two that will always come to mind will be one irish guy, almost certain he was a gypsy, but he would come in every so often and was always a fuzzy ***, but this one day i just wasnt in the mood for his ***, he was my table and he asked for things that we couldnt do, like order food from the kids menu, order cocktails we didnt do etc etc... but he ordered half a rack of ribs from me, i say he ordered, he basically demanded it, "gimme half a portion of this, and a pint of beer" as a rule we cant give half racks of ribs, to adults, anyway i said no cant be done, he said he was in yesterday sitting on that table (pointed to the section i was on the day before remember he wasnt in my section) i called him up on this, he got really defensive... called a manager called me all the names under the sun, i laughed in his face told him he maybe should get a kids portion as he was basically a child... and he refused to pay... another was a guy came in drunk i refused to serve him he fell asleep on the floor, i dragged him out (as i was the biggest guy working that day) and he threatened to kill me... the joys of being a waiter
umm good questions, well i love the people that come in and remember my name after a previous visit and ask for me to be their waiter, i seem to be the only person in my work that this happens to and its always a nice feeling... also the people that i enjoy talking to, nice people that seem to make an effort when im talking to them, and its a pleasure to be their waiter, and when they leave a nice tip... the worst people... have to be the clickers, people who click... AND on that note, anybody that does it... do not ever do it again... the last people that done it to me waited for 30 minutes for a pint of beer and over an hour for their food, because "his clicking distracted me and made me forget to order his food" also the ultimate worst people are the people who seem nice, and are again nice to serve, but are a lot of work. and dont tip. hateful. Also children. i HATE children, parents everywhere control your kids when in a restaurant, waiters are not there to pick up the rubbish or food your kid decides to throw around everywhere...
I have to say ive worked in a few restaurants in my time and have seen some disguisting things go on... not washing hands, mainly being the main one, but i have seen a few places that actively apply the 5 second rule... revolting... and altho i did not witness this first hand, my work colleages confirmed this... a local and well known pedophile, just realised from prison as far as i know, walked into the restaurant, the head chef noticed him, waited for his order to come in... steak, got the steak rubbed it in his balls, threw it on the floor, dragged it along the ground with his foot, threw it in the bin, picked it out, spat on it, and then cooked it... and believe it or not the guy walked up the kitchen after and said it was one of the best steaks hes very had... but once again none of this happened in TGIFs
Best; tips, i work in the one in UK (decent tips) sometimes make more than our managers. cant complain at that. What do i hate the most, well its a toss up between singing the birthday song (i was the only one that would do it to "Fridays Standards" so everybody begged me to do it 4 or 5 times a night) see the pics in the description to what i had to do, that or the cleaning, the cleaning was INTENSE you would not believe how clean everything had to be. Ive worked many jobs... bar, waiting, bar manager, art gallery manager, owned a coffee shop & B&B (both VERY small) but ive never earned so much money for the work I did.
