We currently have an opening for a Director of Business Development. This position designs, leads and implements the strategic business capture plan for the Domestic, U.S. Army DOD business initiatives under Thales Defense and Security, Inc. (TDSI). The position reports to the Senior Director of Business Development for DOD within the Communications Systems business line out of Clarksburg, MD. This role can be based out of either Aberdeen, MD or Clarksburg, MD and supports both the tactical communications and SATCOM business segments. Travel to customer and operator sites, affiliate Thales offices, and conferences is required.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the performance of the assigned Army/DOD customer accounts with a primary focus on Aberdeen Proving Ground - PAE C2/C3, DEVCOM, T2COM and CECOM.
* Lead and support account activity at the Operational (Division & below) level within the U.S. Army.
* Play a key role in developing and implementing the TDSI Army portfolio in support of the company's business development strategy & aligning it with overall business objectives.
* Be the primary interface with U.S. Army, DOD program offices and/or Military Operations leadership to understand, shape and influence future requirements.
* Develop, qualify, and lead capture and pursuits of large government tactical communications programs ($50M+).
* Proactively interface with customers and partners to identify, qualify and capture new business opportunities.
* Identify, evaluate and pursue industry and USG agency partnerships in developing new business.
* Lead market analysis, monitor competitive intelligence and identify customer needs within their respective business area.

Qualifications

* Experience with HQDA and Active Army units is required, along with executive agencies including PAE C2/C3.
* The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the defense industry in general and the U.S. Army procurement industry specifically, including regulations, procurement processes, and market dynamics.
* Experience in developing business cases, forecast market trends, and understand the financial implications of business development initiatives.
* Demonstrated experience leading in a team environment while interacting cross-functionally with employees of all levels.
* Ability to foster teamwork across different functional areas and with other Thales entities.

Required Experience, Skills, and Education
