Job Summary
The Vehicle Systems Division (VSD) sits at the center of the ideas and data behind current and future systems supplying innovative research and development; technical evaluations during the acquisition process; conceptual and detailed design; assembly, integration, and test; and operational support. Comprised primarily of highly-trained mechanical and aerospace engineers, VSD provides national expertise in the areas of vehicle engineering; guidance, navigation, and controls; robotics; electro-mechanical devices; embedded systems; fluid mechanics; propulsion; thermal control; mechanisms; structures; structural dynamics; and dynamic environments.
The Electromechanical Control Department (ECD) is charged with the responsibility of providing technical support in the areas of control system hardware and algorithms for both spacecraft and launch vehicles. ECD subject matter experts specialize in key components such as gyroscopes, star trackers, encoders, motors, accelerometers, reaction wheels, fast steering mirrors, servo mechanisms, GPS receivers, thrust vector control, and others. The department performs both technical studies and experimental investigations to support customer programs. Technical studies often involve the analysis, simulation, evaluation, or testing of control systems and their components. Experimental investigations may include controller design and implementation, data reduction and visualization, sensor and actuator performance evaluation, and electro-optical systems calibration and alignment. Tasks typically involve interaction with government customers, program management, and contractors.
As the Section Manager of the Mechatronics Modeling and Simulation section within ECD, you will spearhead technical leadership, mentorship, and career growth for our team members. You will foster their professional development through targeted assignments, mentoring relationships, specialized training, and consistent feedback. Collaborating with the department director and section managers, you will contribute to staffing decisions, performance evaluations, and other supervisory responsibilities. Your role will also encompass guiding technical studies, simulations, analyses, and testing of electromechanical control systems to support a range of satellite and launch vehicle programs. By applying engineering principles, you will tackle multifaceted challenges, participate in strategic planning, and provide expert insights on customer projects.
Work Model
This is a full-time position based in El Segundo, CA that combines 4 to 5 regular onsite workdays and remote flexibility as the business needs allow.
What You'll Be Doing
* Lead and mentor the Mechatronics Modeling and Simulation Section of the department, offering technical guidance and career development support for 5-7 early to mid-career engineering professionals
* Elevate team members' technical competencies and contextual understanding through tailored work assignments, mentoring relationships, and training initiatives
* Collaborate with department leadership to address staffing needs, conduct performance reviews, and manage supervisory tasks
* Lead technical studies involving testing, modeling, simulation, and analysis of electromechanical control systems and components for satellite and launch vehicle programs
* Apply engineering methodologies to a wide spectrum of problems, contributing to innovative solutions
* Engage in new business endeavors and strategic planning, potentially bringing in tasks and projects from both internal and external sources

What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements for the Section Manager of the Mechatronics Modeling and Simulation include:
* Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or equivalent is required
* A minimum of (5) years of relevant professional or educational experience is required
* Expertise in laboratory experimentation, test strategy development, experiment design, and integration and testing
* Working understanding of electronics, mechanical design, control systems, inertial sensors, and actuators
* Experience with spacecraft and/or launch vehicle control hardware
* Track record of offering technical support in complex environments (multi-program, multi-agency) involving customers, program offices, engineering support, and contractors
* Proven experience in training and mentoring junior technical staff
* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for interactions with management, program offices, customers, contractors, and colleagues
* Flexibility for up to 25% travel and availability during non-standard hours to meet customer demands

Job Summary
The Enterprise Effects Division (EED) drives integration of Aerospace's strategic capabilities across the national space enterprise. The division leverages a broad array of engineering disciplines against a dynamic portfolio of programs, customers, and national challenges. EED spans the capability lifecycle from concept and architecture design to performance assessment to application of space and space-enabled capabilities.
As a core component of EED, the Earth Orbit Flight Dynamics Department (EOFDD) provides flight mechanics expertise for launch vehicles and space vehicles. Relevant skills include orbital mechanics, astrodynamics, trajectory design and optimization, and atmospheric flight modeling and simulation. We are looking for a Member of the Technical Staff to provide expertise for a wide range of customer flight dynamics needs, supporting both analysis and research and development requests. The work will require candidates to provide deep technical solutions while also collaborating with engineering partners to facilitate integrated solutions for our customers' hardest problems. Customers will include defense, intelligence, and civil and commercial organizations.
Work Model
* The selected candidate will be required to work full time, on-site in El Segundo, CA, Colorado Springs, CO, Chantilly, VA, or Albuquerque, NM.
What You'll Be Doing
* Trajectory design and optimization for launch vehicles and spacecraft for missions operating in LEO, MEO, HEO, GEO, and other earth-centric regimes
* Astrodynamics and orbital mechanics analysis including orbit propagation and maneuver design and optimization for orbit transfer, stationkeeping, graveyard, disposal, and reentry events
* Analysis of vehicles with chemical and/or electric propulsion
* Evaluating contested missions applications for space systems to understand threat performance, assess vulnerabilities, and improve system resiliency
* Maneuver and orbit design, selection, and optimization for missions that support Rendezvous and Proximity Operations (RPO) objectives with complex operational constraints
* Developing Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), exploring Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs), and incorporating operational constraints into the design and maturation of space systems
* Providing operational support for nominal launch and spacecraft deployment and transfer sequences, anomaly resolution, and on-call emerging events
* Utilizing optimal control, flight mechanics, and computer science/algorithm development skills to create new capabilities to service customer requests as stand-alone services and/or ready-to-integrate submodules
* Combining AI/ML/RL techniques with flight mechanics modeling for assessing complex analysis and decision-making trade spaces
* Performing research and development and building new flight dynamics tools to cultivate and maintain a healthy and modern internal tool base
* Leveraging external tools like ASSET, GPOPS-II, SNOPT, POST, OTIS, Copernicus, GMAT, EMTG, etc. where appropriate to augment internally developed capabilities

Aerospace's Cyber Security and Advanced Platforms Subdivision, Advanced Cryptographic Capabilities Department is seeking a Communication/System Security/Crypto Engineer to help design, implement, assess and deploy data-in-transit solutions that defend our nation's most valuable assets in space. We are seeking a highly motivated Communication/System Security/Crypto Project Engineer | Senior Project Engineer with a desire to support customers across a full spectrum of system security, crypto, and communications system activities.
This is a full-time position based in Albuquerque and Kirtland AFB, New Mexico, which is 100%onsite.
What You'll Be Doing
Provide direct engineering support primarily to the Space Rapid Capabilities Office. Additional support may occasionally be requested for Space Systems Command, Air Force Research Lab and Space Development Agency customers.
Advise government customers and their program contractors on cryptographic capability design and implementation.
Perform research and technical assessments in areas of cryptography, network security, cybersecurity, communications integration.
Review and develop technical designs, Concept of Operations (CONOPs), system test plans, technical documentation and provide feedback and guidance in both oral and written form.
Develop technical information for ground and space systems to include integration of cryptographic hardware, system security controls, long-haul communications, securing data-in-transit.
Communicate with multiple government agencies, contractors, and vendors to develop new cryptographic, system security, and communications technologies .
Author and/or co-author technical engineering documents in relation cryptography, network security and system security.
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements for the
Project Engineer - Secure Enterprise Crypto Architect role
Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Cybersecurity or similar STEM technical area of study
8 years of experience in cryptographic technologies is desired for the support for SpRCO
Demonstrated ability to communicate and have effective collaboration in a cross functional, matrix environment to support multiple local and remote customer locations within multiple programs
Proven experience in network engineering, network architecture, long-haul communications knowledge and experience
Expertise in developing and presenting technical reports, concept documents (CONOPs), briefings and analytical assessment for different audiences.
Willing to travel domestically up to 25% of the time
This position requires a current TS/SCI security clearance with SAP eligibility, which is issued by the US Government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
In addition to the above, the minimum requirements for the
Senior Project Engineer - Secure Enterprise Crypto Architect role
:
A minimum of 12 years engineering experience in in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or Network Engineering
Working knowledge of multiple types of Proven ability and expertise in cryptographic technologies, standards, and policies
Strong leadership, team management and collaboration abilities.
Proficient in Linux and its native programming or scripting languages
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
Advanced degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Cybersecurity or similar technical area of study
Experience with implementing and operating COMSEC items, primarily space-based cryptographic solutions, but also terrestrial cryptographic solutions
Experience with space and ground system infrastructure, including design, implementation, and operation of COMSEC hardware, network devices, compute systems
Experience with designing or implementing data-in-transit flows and data structures-both space and ground-at all layers of OSI model
Experience with configuring Amazon Web Services (AWS) based cloud computing services
Proficient in Linux and its native programming or scripting languages
Test plan authoring, editing, review, and execution
Current TS/SCI with the ability to obtain SAP clearances, which is issued by the US government. US citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
