Job Summary
Defense Systems Group (DSG) provides analysis-based decision support to senior leaders on space architectures, policy and strategy, technology development, warfighter capability enablers, systems integration, defense industrial base, and threat reduction to help shape existing and future space missions across the national security space (NSS) enterprise. DSG is unique at Aerospace as it not only directly supports major customers, including the U.S. Space Force, U.S. Space Command, Air Force Materiel Command, and senior leadership at the Pentagon, but also provides a broad range of technical support across the national space enterprise, maintaining vertical responsibilities with customers' portfolios as well as horizontal, matrixed responsibilities across the corporation. Additionally, DSG provides deep technical expertise to the Space Force Space Systems Command (SSC) in the conception, design, acquisition, launch and operations of satellite, launch vehicle, ground control, and range systems.
The Aerospace Space Domain Superiority Directorate, in the Special Programs Division, supports a broad array of Space Domain Awareness and Combat Power missions. We cover the entire threat response chain from the Space Domain Awareness function through the multidomain effects needed for space superiority. These programs include major system acquisitions for multiple ground and space segments, future architecture definition at the data/software/hardware levels, and research and technology development for continuous evolution of space warfighting capabilities.
As the Senior Project Leader (Systems Engineering - Acquisition) supporting Space Systems Command (SSC) in the Space Safari program office, you will contribute to a team that is developing end-to-end solutions and implementing critical space control capabilities. The office supports Space Force by providing rapid responses to address dynamic changes in the operational space environment. Our mission is to deliver space programs on tactical timelines. Our job is to develop concepts, design prototypes, acquire systems, and perform operations. This position allows the unique opportunity to see your contributions impact critical missions in a very short time. You will work on site in the government program office, where you will have frequent interaction with the government and be a member of a tightly integrated team consisting of military, Aerospace, UARC, FFRDC, and SETA personnel.
The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility in El Segundo, CA.
What You'll Be Doing
* Provide mission trades and concept employment concepts to the leadership of the Rapid Reaction Integrated Mission Delta, Space Safari Branch
* Serve as principal technical representative to customer, coordinating efforts in the concurrent acquisition and operational planning of tactically responsive satellite systems
* Act as the integration leader coordinating with senior level specialists and multidisciplinary teams, including ETG and xLab, in the rapid fielding (AI&T, launch integration, launch, on-orbit ops, etc.) of new space vehicles
* Provide CONOPS requirements to Space Operational Command and other government entities on the implementation of critical space control capabilities
* Monitor and support resource planning (including budgets and ETG support)
* Maintaining effective working relationships with customer leadership, capability-delivering contractors, ETG and other program office support organizations, including the creation of technical materials and the ability to present to key stakeholders , Space Safari team members and senior leaders
* Acts as a senior mentor to team members, providing technical guidance to staff in both technical duties and program office responsibilities

Minimum Requirements for the Senior Project Leader (Systems Engineering - Acquisition):
* Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or closely related technical field is required
* A minimum of 10 years of increasingly responsible professional engineering experience with a focus on space systems development is required
* Experience in spacecraft development (acquisition, design, build, integration, test, and operations)
* Experience building and maintaining effective teams and developing good working interpersonal relations with multiple government partners and contractors
* Initiates acquisition of technical support from appropriate corporate resources
* Monitors and may assist in development of budgets
* Exhibits exceptionally high level of innovation, creativeness, and initiative

Job Summary
The Facilities Division is dedicated to providing quality leadership, agile solutions, and exceptional enterprise integrated services that enables The Aerospace Corporation to achieve mission success in the rapidly changing space enterprise environment. The Facilities Construction Department is a unit within the Facilities Division responsible for general building and grounds improvement projects and major construction within the Corporation's owned and leased building portfolio across the U.S.
The Facilities Construction Project Lead (Facilities Construction Staff III/IV) manages and oversees all facets of the design, pre-construction/construction, and close-out phase of all assigned projects.
The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, onsite at our facility in El Segundo, CA.
What You'll Be Doing
Prepares Construction Statements of Work (SOWs) for obtaining proposals from outside contractors; coordinates with in-house designers and engineers for design build SOW.
Manages both project budget and schedule; monitors both project budget on a monthly basis and ensures the budget always accurately reflects the project status/ progress.
Manages daily upcoming activities of the contractor; reviews contractor construction schedule for conformance with company standards and practices related to scheduling.
Reviews drawings and specifications for conformance with company/partner organizations standards and code requirements.
Makes field checks as often as necessary to determine compliance with contract documents.
Reviews the process and monitors monthly payments for the contractors, architects, engineers and any other pertinent parties.
Receives, reviews, and negotiate Contractor Change Order Proposal(s) to achieve fair and reasonable price in accordance with the contract terms & conditions and General Conditions; Provide Fair Cost Estimate as required for Change Order Approval.
Coordinates with Architect (in-house or consultant) for timely development of program requirements, design drawings, construction documents based on customer requirements.
Oversees and reviews the work of architectural and engineering consultants for successful bidding and constructability.
Manage all contractor project logs, track status, and assists in the review of Request for Information (RFIs), submittals, Change Order Proposals for proper submission/ responses; reviews substitution submittal from contractors to ensure specifications and/or Aerospace standards are in compliance.
Assists in the selection process of outside design consultants and interface as often as necessary with the customers regarding project status, project requirements, project approval and coordination with other departments.

Minimum Requirements for the

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in similar or equivalent position involved in project or construction management of commercial and/or public project in excess of $10M.
Excellent grasp of theories, principles and practices related to Scheduling
Experience with Construction Project Management Software
Some knowledge of city building codes
