Job Summary Defense Systems Group (DSG) provides analysis-based decision support to senior leaders on space architectures, policy and strategy, technology development, warfighter capability enablers, systems integration, defense industrial base, and threat reduction to help shape existing and future space missions across the national security space (NSS) enterprise. DSG is unique at Aerospace as it not only directly supports major customers, including the U.S. Space Force, U.S. Space Command, Air Force Materiel Command, and senior leadership at the Pentagon, but also provides a broad range of technical support across the national space enterprise, maintaining vertical responsibilities with customers' portfolios as well as horizontal, matrixed responsibilities across the corporation. Additionally, DSG provides deep technical expertise to the Space Force Space Systems Command (SSC) in the conception, design, acquisition, launch and operations of satellite, launch vehicle, ground control, and range systems. The Aerospace Space Domain Superiority Directorate, in the Special Programs Division, supports a broad array of Space Domain Awareness and Combat Power missions. We cover the entire threat response chain from the Space Domain Awareness function through the multidomain effects needed for space superiority. These programs include major system acquisitions for multiple ground and space segments, future architecture definition at the data/software/hardware levels, and research and technology development for continuous evolution of space warfighting capabilities. As the Senior Project Leader (Systems Engineering - Acquisition) supporting Space Systems Command (SSC) in the Space Safari program office, you will contribute to a team that is developing end-to-end solutions and implementing critical space control capabilities. The office supports Space Force by providing rapid responses to address dynamic changes in the operational space environment. Our mission is to deliver space programs on tactical timelines. Our job is to develop concepts, design prototypes, acquire systems, and perform operations. This position allows the unique opportunity to see your contributions impact critical missions in a very short time. You will work on site in the government program office, where you will have frequent interaction with the government and be a member of a tightly integrated team consisting of military, Aerospace, UARC, FFRDC, and SETA personnel. The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility in El Segundo, CA. What You'll Be Doing * Provide mission trades and concept employment concepts to the leadership of the Rapid Reaction Integrated Mission Delta, Space Safari Branch * Serve as principal technical representative to customer, coordinating efforts in the concurrent acquisition and operational planning of tactically responsive satellite systems * Act as the integration leader coordinating with senior level specialists and multidisciplinary teams, including ETG and xLab, in the rapid fielding (AI&T, launch integration, launch, on-orbit ops, etc.) of new space vehicles * Provide CONOPS requirements to Space Operational Command and other government entities on the implementation of critical space control capabilities * Monitor and support resource planning (including budgets and ETG support) * Maintaining effective working relationships with customer leadership, capability-delivering contractors, ETG and other program office support organizations, including the creation of technical materials and the ability to present to key stakeholders , Space Safari team members and senior leaders * Acts as a senior mentor to team members, providing technical guidance to staff in both technical duties and program office responsibilities as well as development insights What You Need to be Successful Minimum Requirements for the Senior Project Leader (Systems Engineering - Acquisition): * Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or closely related technical field is required * A minimum of 10 years of increasingly responsible professional engineering experience with a focus on space systems development is required * Experience in spacecraft development (acquisition, design, build, integration, test, and operations) * Experience building and maintaining effective teams and developing good working interpersonal relations with multiple government partners and contractors * Initiates acquisition of technical support from appropriate corporate resources * Monitors and may assist in development of budgets * Exhibits exceptionally high level of innovation, creativeness, and initiative * Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers * Acts as a senior mentor to team members, providing technical guidance to staff in both technical duties and program office responsibilities as well as development insights * Capability to identify and mitigate risks * Willing to travel to work locations and/or customer sites approx.10-15% (as required) * This position requires a current and active Top Secret/SCI clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain additional security accesses, which is issued by the U.S. government. These roles will work closely with the Elections Administrator, senior leadership, and an Elections Operations Manager to lead special projects, provide high-level administrative and project support, and develop/document office procedures that align with state election code and best practices. This is a hands-on, detail-focused project lead role with heavy emphasis on Microsoft Office proficiency, self-direction, documentation, and process improvement. The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable working independently, and able to remain focused and professional in a fast-paced, high-pressure election environment, especially during long days leading up to and including Election Day. Project & Administrative Support Serve as a project lead and administrative partner to the Elections Administrator, project sponsor, and Elections Operations Manager. Support coordination of day-to-day activities, meetings, and special initiatives within the Elections office. Schedule and facilitate meetings with stakeholders; capture clear, detailed meeting notes and action items. Track project tasks, timelines, and deliverables; follow up with stakeholders to ensure completion. Process & Procedure Development Meet with staff across the Elections office to understand their roles, workflows, and pain points. Document current procedures and processes in a clear, organized format (e.g., SOPs, checklists, flow diagrams). Review existing procedures against Texas election code and Secretary of State guidance/best practices and help formalize them into standard operating procedures (SOPs). Identify gaps, inefficiencies, or risks in current processes and recommend practical improvements. Research & Documentation Perform research (online, internal resources, reference materials) to gather answers and best practices needed to support process development and decision making. Consolidate information into well-structured documents, presentations, and reference materials using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Maintain organized documentation repositories (e.g., shared drives, SharePoint, Teams) for procedures, templates, and project artifacts. Election-Cycle Support Support preparation activities for upcoming elections, including process documentation, checklists, and coordination of special projects. Assist with monitoring and tracking tasks during early voting and Election Day, escalating issues to leadership as needed. Work extended hours, including some evenings and weekends, particularly in the ramp-up to elections and on Election Day itself (10-12+ hour shifts may be required). Collaboration & Communication Build strong working relationships with Elections staff, leadership, and technical partners while maintaining professionalism and discretion. Communicate clearly and proactively regarding project status, risks, and constraints. Work largely independently with minimal supervision, staying on task and avoiding unnecessary distractions or excessive socializing during work hours. Required Qualifications 3+ years of experience in a project lead, project coordinator, project manager, or operations/process-focused role, preferably in a government, public sector, legal, or highly regulated environment. Demonstrated experience documenting, improving, and implementing procedures or workflows (e.g., SOPs, process maps, checklists). Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience using Teams and/or SharePoint for collaboration and document management. Proven ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and drive work to completion without supervision. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft clear documentation and summarize information for leadership. Willingness and ability to work extended hours and overtime, including occasional nights and weekends, particularly during election periods. Must be able to work 100% onsite at the customer's Elections office in the Dallas, TX area. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in Elections, County/City government, or a similar public-sector environment. Experience supporting compliance-focused work, where procedures must align with statutes, regulations, or published best practices. Familiarity with project management tools or methodologies (formal PMP not required). Experience coordinating or supporting large-scale or time-critical events (e.g., elections, large public events, audits, or public programs). The Project Manager will work closely with the Product Manager and Engineering Manager to understand and manage project requirements, scope, timelines, and budget, while communicating project status to stakeholders and management Primary Responsibilities: Responsible for on-time, in-scope and in-budget delivery of projects and leading multiple complex project teams Manage the day-to-day operational aspects of the project including scope definition, project plan development, resource capacity allocation, project execution and post-mortems facilitation Perform in the role of a scrum master across one or more project teams Conduct daily stand-up meetings, backlog grooming, sprint planning, sprint demo and sprint retrospectives Work with the product development team to understand and manage project requirements, scope, timelines and budget Provide clear reporting of project status across all projects including timelines, milestone tracking, issue identification, and resource management Identify and communicates resource constraints and potential priority conflicts to assist the organization in evaluating and reprioritizing deadlines Conduct Portfolio Reviews that provide executive leadership with progress and risk assessments against project objectives and key results, portfolio and project health, and resource utilization Apply analytics and critical thinking to identify team inefficiencies and risk areas and implement projects or processes to streamline and improve operations Experience and Skills: Proven track record in organizing, prioritizing, planning, and executing large-scale technology projects from definition through implementation, involving internal personnel and consultants. The Facilities Construction Department is a unit within the Facilities Division responsible for general building and grounds improvement projects and major construction within the Corporation's owned and leased building portfolio across the U.S. The Facilities Construction Project Lead (Facilities Construction Staff III/IV) manages and oversees all facets of the design, pre-construction/construction, and close-out phase of all assigned projects. The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, onsite at our facility in El Segundo, CA. What You'll Be Doing Prepares Construction Statements of Work (SOWs) for obtaining proposals from outside contractors; coordinates with in-house designers and engineers for design build SOW. Manages both project budget and schedule; monitors both project budget on a monthly basis and ensures the budget always accurately reflects the project status/ progress. Manages daily upcoming activities of the contractor; reviews contractor construction schedule for conformance with company standards and practices related to scheduling. Reviews drawings and specifications for conformance with company/partner organizations standards and code requirements. Makes field checks as often as necessary to determine compliance with contract documents. Reviews the process and monitors monthly payments for the contractors, architects, engineers and any other pertinent parties. Receives, reviews, and negotiate Contractor Change Order Proposal(s) to achieve fair and reasonable price in accordance with the contract terms & conditions and General Conditions; Provide Fair Cost Estimate as required for Change Order Approval. Coordinates with Architect (in-house or consultant) for timely development of program requirements, design drawings, construction documents based on customer requirements. Oversees and reviews the work of architectural and engineering consultants for successful bidding and constructability. Manage all contractor project logs, track status, and assists in the review of Request for Information (RFIs), submittals, Change Order Proposals for proper submission/ responses; reviews substitution submittal from contractors to ensure specifications and/or Aerospace standards are in compliance. Assists in the selection process of outside design consultants and interface as often as necessary with the customers regarding project status, project requirements, project approval and coordination with other departments. What You Need to be Successful Minimum Requirements for the Facilities Construction Staff III: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
