Job Summary
The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a skilled Kubernetes Engineer
(Technical and Cloud Computing Engineer Staff IV/V)
with expertise in Kubernetes, Linux, programming, and automation. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining both on-premise and cloud-based Kubernetes clusters, providing essential support to our engineering team.
As part of a multidisciplinary infrastructure team, you will manage multiple clusters used for technical analyses, including space launch telemetry analysis. Collaborating closely with rocket scientists and engineers, you will contribute to the development of innovative solutions to complex challenges within the space enterprise, supporting critical national space assets. This position requires a strong sense of shared responsibility and ownership, working alongside cross-functional team members to achieve our mission objectives.
The selected candidate will be required to work full-time on-site at our facility in El Segundo, CA or Chantilly, VA.
What You'll Be Doing
Manage Kubernetes for on-prem and in AWS production environments with end-to-end responsibilities of deployment, upgrade, patching, performance tuning, capacity planning & backups/DR.
Frequent full security patching of all layers of Kubernetes infrastructure while maintaining very high uptime
Ownership and engineering responsibility of production AWS and Kubernetes services
Identify and resolve full Kubernetes stack engineering problems independently
Ensure successful real-time analysis of telemetry data from space launch partners, such as SpaceX, United Launch Alliance (ULA), and Blue Origin
Provide after-hours support for Kubernetes infrastructure troubleshooting during launch events
Support scientists and engineers running workloads and apps in Kubernetes
Provide Linux expertise and troubleshooting
Evaluate and test new products and technologies
Use code to enhance and automate operations
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements for the
Kubernetes Engineer (Technical and Cloud Computing Engineer Staff IV)
include:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, STEM, or IT or equivalent experience is required
A minimum of (5) or more years of increasingly responsible and relevant professional experience supporting a high availability enterprise environment is required
A minimum of (2) years hands-on experience managing existing Kubernetes environments, with responsibilities of deployment, upgrade, patching, and backups is required
Full ownership and engineering responsibility of production AWS and Kubernetes services
Be able to identify and resolve engineering problems independently
Experience in Linux systems administration, including configuration, for an enterprise environment
Strong understanding of networking fundamentals
Experience automating repetitive tasks with scripting or DevOps tools
This position requires the ability to maintain a Secret security clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
In addition to the above, the minimum requirements for the Kubernetes Engineer (Technical and Cloud Computing Engineer Staff V) include:
A minimum of (7) or more years of increasingly responsible and relevant professional experience in AWS, Linux, and IaC is required
Experience architecting and deploying secure AWS and/or Kubernetes environments from scratch is needed
Experience performance tuning and capacity planning AWS and/or Kubernetes environments is required
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) is preferred
Experience deploying Kubernetes clusters using Rancher is strongly desired
Experience deploying/supporting persistent container storage on Kubernetes (Portworx preferred)
Experience in Linux performance tuning, and security hardening for an enterprise DoD environment
Experience with VMWare, Hyper-V, or Harvester
Experience with automated provisioning, configuration management, Infrastructure-as-Code, GitOps (Examples: ArgoCD, Ansible, TerraForm, Puppet, Packer, Bash, Golang, Python)

Basic Qualifications

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Staff Aeronautical Engineer. The candidate should be a self-starter and will be working within an Integrated Product Team construct. This position will be filled out of El Segundo or Palmdale , Ca.
This candidate will serve as the Deputy IPT Lead within a matrix organization, serving as the IPT's direct liaison between the Program, Operating Unit, adjacent IPTs and multiple engineering organizations. The position will report directly to the multi-discipline Integrated Product Lead Manager 3.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for the direct supervision/management of the staff. Providing objective-oriented direction to subordinates utilizing management guidelines & general policies.
- Serve as Deputy Integrated Product Lead Manager and DOA as required
- Oversee technical, cost and schedule performance for complex technical projects for a wide range of systems and technologies.
- Ensure technical rigor, drive robust technical solutions, and lead product roll out efforts with cross functional Responsible Engineers (REs) to prepare change request packages from approval to completion.
- Ensure all change requests meet technical requirements to progress through the change management lifecycle to include presentations at Enterprise Technical Change Boards.
- Represent the multi-discipline engineering organization in Integrated Master Schedule working group meetings and meeting or beating technical implementation milestones
- Attend program meetings and present all technical and programmatic engineering information.
- Identify and manage engineering risks, issues, and opportunities, including representing engineering in Risk Board meetings
- Communicate prioritization from program leadership to technical execution teams
- Interface between program/business management and technical team
- Program responsibilities include planning and program performance addressing cost, schedule, technical performance, and quality of a work package, subsystem, or related group of work packages on a large system development-type contract or full responsibility for all aspects of program performance on a large delivery order or mid-size technical services-type contract.
- Lead a multi-disciplinary team to:
o Develop new projects for approval, including development of the requirements, statement of work (SOW), and schedule.
o Coordinate gathering of impacts and estimates for proposals.
o Develop and adhere to the budget baseline using the Earn Value Management (EVM) process, including development of discrete work packages, providing weekly status of IMS tasks, and providing input to monthly Estimate at Complete (EAC) updates.
o Manage execution of projects and technical tasks to completion and provide regular status updates to leadership.
o Assess, track, and mitigate technical, cost and schedule risk.
o Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analysis for total systems.
**Basic Qualifications:**
- Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 12 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 10 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience.
- Familiarization with the Technical Change Management Process
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary technical teams.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment, Action Oriented, Strong Attention to Detail, Communicates Effectively
- Hands on experience in electronics engineering, systems engineering and/or aerospace engineering

The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman's Product Support Organization supporting our Product Support Analytics and Innovation team.
The selected candidate will be responsible for creating custom, high-performance ETL pipelines from the ground up, taming complex data sources that range from structured text to esoteric third-party binary formats. This statement of work will involve deep data modeling, abstracting reusable patterns, and writing modular, maintainable. Python code that stands the test of time.

Collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, and other software engineers to understand data requirements and deliver robust, integrated solutions.

Tune and optimize complex SQL queries and data processing workflows within our on-premise infrastructure.

Overview:
In this role, you will be responsible for defining a comprehensive system architecture. The Defense Systems Group (DSG) provides analysis-based decision support to senior leaders on space architectures, policy and strategy, development planning, system of systems engineering, and threat reduction to help shape the future space missions across the national security space (NSS) enterprise. DSG is unique at Aerospace as it not only directly supports major customers, including US Space Force, U.S Space Command, Air Force Materiel Command, and senior leadership at the Pentagon, but also provides a broad range of services and support across the national space enterprise, maintaining vertical responsibilities with customers but also horizontal, matrixed responsibilities across the corporation. DSG also assists the Space Force Space Systems Command (SSC) in the conception, design, acquisition, launch and operations of satellite, launch vehicle, ground control, and range systems.
The Launch Systems, Operations, and Development (LSOD) team within the Launch Systems Division is seeking a well-qualified individual with demonstrated leadership and exceptional communication abilities to coordinate the continuous configuration evaluation of the Falcon Launch System and manage New Glenn certification activities. The Launch Systems Engineer will coordinate and maintain support for the evaluation of the Falcon launch vehicle design, operational capabilities, and mission assurance to ensure it meets the government evaluation criteria for non-recurring design validation and recurring verification. Responsibilities will also include independent verification and validation support for New Glenn certification. This is an excellent opportunity to develop new verification methodologies and tools to improve assessment and tracking efficiency.
The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility in El Segundo, CA.
What You'll Be Doing
Coordinating Structural Loads and Dynamic Environments analyses
Serve as a Launch Vehicle Loads technical focal point for ETG, contractor, and customer interactions
Work closely with the Falcon Chief Engineer and Assured Access to Space Directorate to maintain the technical baseline
Coordinate and maintain support for the evaluation of the Falcon Launch System design, operational capabilities, and mission assurance
Ensure Falcon Launch System meets the government evaluation criteria for non-recurring design validation, recurring verification, and reuse extension
Ensure the Falcon Launch System interface and vehicle requirements and documentation are compliant with EELV program top-level requirements
Support configuration control efforts to maintain vehicle baseline acceptance
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements - Project Engineer - Systems and Mission Assurance Engineering:
B.S. in Engineering or Physical Science from a recognized institution
8 or more years of applicable launch aerospace engineering experience (includes time acquiring applicable MS, MBA, and/or PhD)
Experience in working with variety of engineering disciplines
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with numerous internal and external organizations
This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
In addition to the above, the minimum requirements for Senior Project Engineer - Systems and Mission Assurance Engineering include:
12 or more years of applicable launch and aerospace engineering experience (includes time acquiring applicable MS, MBA, and/or PhD)
Experience with dynamic testing and assessment of complex structures and components

The Systems Engineering Division (SED) offers unparalleled expertise in systems engineering to the U.S. government and various public and private agencies, universities, nonprofit organizations, consortia, and commercial companies involved in the advanced development and application of space systems. Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Model Based Space Systems Engineer (Senior Project Engineer - Digital Systems Engineering) to drive the planning, execution, and management of complex MBSE and DE projects and project portfolios. The role requires a deep understanding of MBSE and DE concepts, methodologies, frameworks, tools, and best practices to enhance the acquisition and realization of space and defense systems encompassing systems architecture, design, analysis, and lifecycle management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems engineering, project portfolio management, and cross-functional collaboration with Aerospace program offices and ETG organizations within a dynamic and innovative environment.
What You'll Be Doing
Plan, execute, and lead MBSE and DE R&D initiatives and projects, ensuring integration of systems engineering best practices.
Provide oversight of project teams developing descriptive models using open-standard modeling languages (SysML, UAFML, BPMN) and industry-recognized tools (e.g., Cameo, Sparx EA, Rhapsody).
Guide project teams through the full system development lifecycle, from concept to deployment.
Drive innovation and best practices in MBSE, ensuring alignment with industry trends and organizational, and customer goals.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including software, hardware, and domain experts, to develop and analyze system models in the systems acquisition and realization lifecycle.
Author, publish, and present papers, presentations, and training material on MBSE topics of mutual interest to Aerospace and customers.
Participate in MBSE and DE related standards organizations and profession society working groups (e.g., OMG, INCOSE, Digital Twin Consortium, AIAA, IEEE) representing Aerospace interests.
Mentor and train junior and mid-level engineers on MBSE principles, practices, and tools.

B.S. degree in a relevant Engineering discipline (Aerospace, Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, etc.), Computer Science, or related technical field.
12+ years of experience in three or more systems engineering functional areas (e.g. requirements, architecture, design) with at least 5 years in MBSE and DE.
Proficiency in MBSE tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, Sparx EA, or IBM Rhapsody.
Strong knowledge of descriptive modeling languages (e.g., SysML, UAFML, BPMN), architecture frameworks (e.g., DoDAF, UAF, TOGAF), and methodologies (e.g., OOSEM, SysMOD, ISE&PPOOA).
Must be a self-starter with excellent problem-solving, communication (verbal and written), and project portfolio and technical leadership skills.
Comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with cross-functional government, SETA, and other FFRDC teams.
Ability to clearly explain project outcomes and deliverables to stakeholders not versed in MBSE.
