Job Summary
Defense Systems Group (DSG) provides analysis-based decision support to senior leaders on space architectures, policy and strategy, technology development, warfighter capability enablers, systems integration, defense industrial base, and threat reduction to help shape existing and future space missions across the national security space (NSS) enterprise. DSG is unique at Aerospace as it not only directly supports major customers, including the U.S. Space Force, U.S. Space Command, Air Force Materiel Command, and senior leadership at the Pentagon, but also provides a broad range of technical support across the national space enterprise, maintaining vertical responsibilities with customers' portfolios as well as horizontal, matrixed responsibilities across the corporation. Additionally, DSG provides deep technical expertise to the Space Force Space Systems Command (SSC) in the conception, design, acquisition, launch and operations of satellite, launch vehicle, ground control, and range systems.
We are seeking a Satellite SystemsAnalyst (Project Engineer- Signal & Image Process Engineering) to join a high-performing team bringing technical skills to bear to characterize the fast-moving field of international space systems and its implications to U.S. national security space. Participate in a wide range of technical activities, work with technical intelligence, analyze global space programs, systems, and operations, and influence customer decisions on important National Security Space topics.
The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility at the LA AFB in El Segundo, CA, which requires access to specialized data. If the candidate has access to this data from another location, then full-time, on site work at that location would also be acceptable.
This position is not eligible for teleworking.
What You'll Be Doing
Responsively assess the potential impact of current worldwide space and counterspace activities on U.S. national security space operations
Utilize intelligence sources to perform engineering analysis to identify and mitigate space-based threats and threat enablers
Conduct detailed technical analyses of current and future space systems
Develop algorithms to study and/or fuse different sets of information and utilize data analytics to implement advanced processing and analysis techniques
Identify new areas of concern in Space Domain Awareness and proactively develop recommendations for further global data collection and research
Identify short- and long-term technical challenges for various customers, including the USAF/USSF, the Intelligence Community, and other government customers
Prepare technical reports, briefings, and other deliverable materials
Critically review reports, briefings, and other materials produced by team members
Support and develop customer relationships
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements
Satellite SystemsAnalyst (Project Engineer- Signal & Image Process Engineering):
Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or Data Analytics is required
A minimum of (6) years of relevant professional or educational experience is required
Familiarity with space systems engineering, satellites, and operations/space craft systems or data analytics background in a space environment

Be a proactive, fast learner with the willingness and ability to work in a dynamic high visibility environment with routine engagement with executive levels of government and decision makers.

We have multiple openings for highly qualified engineers to join our interdisciplinary team of Infrastructure System Resilience Analysts supporting analysis of the resilience of a variety of infrastructure systems to cyber, physical, and natural threats and hazards. You will apply a combination of technical depth and breadth, critical thinking, modeling and simulation, and analysis to understand complex, multi-domain problem areas and provide decision insight, communicate options and trade-offs, and facilitate the integration of new technology in support of customer missions. Resilient Infrastructure SystemsAnalysts often serve to integrate across research and development teams and work directly with operational organizations. These positions are in the Computational Engineering Division (CED), within the Engineering Directorate.
These positions will be filled at either level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.
You will
Contribute to and actively participate in the conception, development, implementation, execution, and documentation of well-defined analytical questions and plans to provide decision insights to stakeholders on challenging and ambiguous infrastructure resilience problems of moderate complexity.
Participate in and contribute to the development of analytical models, tools, and frameworks to characterize and assess key infrastructure resilience-related issues, such as infrastructure interdependencies, system-level impacts from natural hazards and intelligent adversary attacks, or risks and cost-benefit of various technology or operational solutions.
Support team members in the development, evaluation, and application of physical and computational simulations to gain insight into moderately complex infrastructure systems.

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Model Based Space Systems Engineer (Senior Project Engineer - Digital Systems Engineering) to drive the planning, execution, and management of complex MBSE and DE projects and project portfolios. The role requires a deep understanding of MBSE and DE concepts, methodologies, frameworks, tools, and best practices to enhance the acquisition and realization of space and defense systems encompassing systems architecture, design, analysis, and lifecycle management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems engineering, project portfolio management, and cross-functional collaboration with Aerospace program offices and ETG organizations within a dynamic and innovative environment.
What You'll Be Doing
Plan, execute, and lead MBSE and DE R&D initiatives and projects, ensuring integration of systems engineering best practices.
Provide oversight of project teams developing descriptive models using open-standard modeling languages (SysML, UAFML, BPMN) and industry-recognized tools (e.g., Cameo, Sparx EA, Rhapsody).
Guide project teams through the full system development lifecycle, from concept to deployment.
Drive innovation and best practices in MBSE, ensuring alignment with industry trends and organizational, and customer goals.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including software, hardware, and domain experts, to develop and analyze system models in the systems acquisition and realization lifecycle.
Author, publish, and present papers, presentations, and training material on MBSE topics of mutual interest to Aerospace and customers.
Participate in MBSE and DE related standards organizations and profession society working groups (e.g., OMG, INCOSE, Digital Twin Consortium, AIAA, IEEE) representing Aerospace interests.
Mentor and train junior and mid-level engineers on MBSE principles, practices, and tools.

B.S. degree in a relevant Engineering discipline (Aerospace, Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, etc.), Computer Science, or related technical field.
12+ years of experience in three or more systems engineering functional areas (e.g. requirements, architecture, design) with at least 5 years in MBSE and DE.
Proficiency in MBSE tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, Sparx EA, or IBM Rhapsody.
Strong knowledge of descriptive modeling languages (e.g., SysML, UAFML, BPMN), architecture frameworks (e.g., DoDAF, UAF, TOGAF), and methodologies (e.g., OOSEM, SysMOD, ISE&PPOOA).
Must be a self-starter with excellent problem-solving, communication (verbal and written), and project portfolio and technical leadership skills.
Comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with cross-functional government, SETA, and other FFRDC teams.
Ability to clearly explain project outcomes and deliverables to stakeholders not versed in MBSE.

The Analog and Power Systems Department (APSD) has expertise in the areas of power electronics / analog engineering and power systems engineering. What You'll Be Doing
Provide power system level energy balance analysis, energy depletion analysis, and harness voltage drop analysis in support of the development of satellite and launch vehicles, up to and including launch and initialization (state of health and anomaly support). Provide technical reports in support of Space Systems Command (SSC), National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), and Civil Space programs
Create system level power models and conduct independent reviews of contractor space vehicle or launch vehicle systems. Provide analysis that identifies system margin and operational constraints
Collaborate on a multidiscipline team of SMEs to provide system level analysis data products
Write clear and concise reports that document your work.
Deliver presentations to customers and leadership.
Serve as the customer's Subject Matter Expert by providing technical support to program offices in support of design verification, design conceptualization, system sizing, system state of health checks, and anomaly root-cause / corrective action investigations. Maintain analysis and design standards for the space industry
