The Short-Term Trader/Dispatcher I is in charge of the strategic management of AES generation assets in the Day-Ahead and Real-Time energy markets within various Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs)/Independent System Operators (ISOs).
This is a role within AES Clean Energy Market Operations and is a 24X7 operation. Employees will work abnormal schedules which include nights, weekends, and holidays. Personal flexibility to adjust schedules as needed is fundamental.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Handling the Day-Ahead and Real-Time operations of the AES Clean Energy Portfolio.
Dispatching generation based upon economic conditions and operational constraints.
Developing load and wind generation forecasts.
Scheduling the Day-Ahead bidding of power into the respective RTO/ISO market.
Monitoring and analyzing market information to identify dispatching and trading opportunities to increase profitability.
Monitoring weather forecasts within various RTO/ISO markets.
Running dispatch and trade decisions with a continuous focus on balancing risk versus return to produce maximum profitability.
Coordinating unit availability, outage schedules, unit start-up and shutdown times, and communicating all vital information to commercial operations, plant personnel and the respective RTO/ISO.

Education/Experience
Short-Term Trader/Dispatcher I:
Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business, Engineering, Finance, or a computer-related field.
0-2 years of energy experience preferred. Desired areas of expertise: power generation coordination and marketing, real-time scheduling and dispatch, or power trading.
PJM Generation Certification preferred. If not certified, must have ability to become certified within six months.
Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge of the wholesale power market.
Knowledge of multiple RTOs/ISOs (PJM, CAISO, ERCOT, ISONE, NYISO, MISO).

We are looking for a Distribution Operator!
AES Ohio serves approximately 500,000 customers across a 6,000 square-mile service area in Southwest-Central Ohio. This includes 14,800 miles of distribution lines and over 150 substations.
Under limited direction, the Distribution Operator controls and operates the company's distribution resources-including circuit breakers, switches, voltage regulating equipment, and other devices associated with the system. The role ensures compliance with PUCO regulations and AES safety and operating standards, while coordinating and directing all switching operations on the mainline distribution system.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Implements real-time actions, up to and including shedding firm load under direction of the transmission System Operator
Directs all actions for safety and reliability of the distribution electric grid, including field crews, electrical equipment, and customers in matters that affect distribution grid reliability
Directs all switching and tagging activities to achieve LOTO isolation on mainline distribution equipment for both scheduled and outage situations

In-office role - Rotating 12 hour shift
Responsibilities include:
Assisting in controlling operation of the transmission system in a safe, reliable and efficient manner
Assisting in ordering appropriate operational changes to meet load fluctuations or loss of generation equipment, substation equipment or transmission lines
Assisting in issuing transmission switching orders to switchmen and power plant personnel
Performing special operating studies and preparing reports, load flows and other operating and dispatching data

The Outage Management System (OMS) Platform Manager is responsible for the ongoing ownership, operation, and optimization of the company's Outage Management System (OMS), a third-party enterprise platform used to support critical utility operations. This role ensures the OMS remains stable, available, compliant, and aligned with evolving business and operational requirements. The position focuses on system operations, vendor coordination, lifecycle management, and stakeholder engagement-not software development or product management.
System Management and Operations
Own the day-to-day operation and support of the production Outage Management System to ensure reliability, performance, and 24x7 availability.
Serve as the primary system owner responsible for system health, configuration, availability, and operational readiness.
Partner with Digital, IT, and Operations teams to troubleshoot issues, manage incidents, and resolve system defects.
Proactively evaluate OMS performance and identify opportunities for configuration improvements, operational efficiencies, and process optimization.

Creating engineering designs and work scope for substation projects and confirming documentation and support is available to necessary personnel. Possible items including steel structures, foundations, clearances, layout drawings, grounding, oil containment, lightning protection, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
Ensuring designs support a safe environment for transmission lines and substations personnel, contractors and the general public.
Preparing bills-of-material and specifications to procure needed equipment and materials for a substation project.
Preparing and filing applications and supporting documentation for engineering permits when necessary.
Reviewing NESC clearance requirements and Maintenance personnel and ensure the public safety is protected.
Assisting Real Estate in the acquisition of Substation property by coordinating the preparation of sketches, maps, exhibits and easement plans.

About the Opportunity
This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.
The Analyst plays a key role in supporting the Legislative Policy function. This position focuses on tasks tied to specific legislative policy issues. The role requires strong collaboration, reflecting the highly interactive nature of the broader Policy team across the company.
This position reports directly to the Director of Legislative Policy and is an onsite role based at FirstEnergy Headquarters in Akron, OH.
Responsibilities include:
Assist the Director of Legislative Policy in advancing strategic objectives.
Collaborate with senior department members to review, summarize, and distribute legislation to subject matter experts.
Collaborate to synthesize internal feedback to develop company positions and draft legislative redlines.
Conduct in-depth research on frequently introduced legislative topics and advise team members on findings.
Analyze legislative trends across U.S. states to identify emerging issues and opportunities.
Perform data-driven research and compile reports to support decision-making.
Support FirstEnergy's internal state lobbyists with timely information and resources.
Maintain and update the Legislative Policy SharePoint site for accurate and accessible information.
Input legislation and feedback into the internal tracking system to ensure data integrity.
Develop high-quality PowerPoint presentations and Word documents for management and executive briefings.
Take initiative to identify and resolve issues, driving projects to successful closure.
Challenge established processes constructively to improve efficiency and outcomes.
Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety in all activities.
Qualifications include:
Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience (legislative research, data analysis, industry research, etc.).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience crafting clear, compelling narratives for diverse audiences
Ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, including subject matter experts and leadership.
Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a proactive and independent work style.
Demonstrates a strategic mindset, with the ability to think critically and innovatively.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially PowerPoint and Word, for report development and presentations.
Preferred experience, but not required:
Prior experience working in a regulatory or policy environment.
Experience developing leadership-ready presentations and communications.
