AES is recruiting a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to provide technical expertise in all phases of renewable energy project development, from the initial stages through construction and operations. This role will support the delivery of foundation solutions for wind, photovoltaic (PV), and grid-scale battery storage facilities ranging in capacity from less than 5 MW to over 1,000 MW. The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will address geotechnical matters across project teams to optimize design, mitigate risk, and help ensure successful results. Skills And Qualifications Education and Experience * Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering. * At least 5 years' progressive experience in geotechnical engineering design, analysis, and construction support. * Minimum 2 years' experience with PV solar, wind, battery energy storage, and high-voltage facility design. * Field experience on large-scale civil/geotechnical projects, including geotechnical QA/QC and construction oversight. Technical Competencies * Advanced knowledge of geotechnical engineering, soil mechanics, foundation design, geological conditions, subsurface risks, and site characterization methods. * Proficiency with geotechnical software and tools (LPILE, MFAD, Slope/W, etc.). * Experience with SPT, CPT, pile load testing, and geophysical methods (MASW, seismic refraction, electrical resistivity imaging). * Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (AASHTO, ACI, IBC, ISO, ASCE 7, DNV). * Familiarity with civil design elements such as cut/fill analysis, stormwater, and road design. Major Responsibilities * Take on leadership role, deliver and execute Maximo business plan and product roadmap, while fostering strategic partnerships for business operations. * Validate commercial deployment of Maximo business model and system on utility-scale solar projects. * Develop and continuously update the landscape of technologies, trends, stakeholders, and customer needs. * Drive product improvements and development of requirements for the robotic system to enable delivery of near-term and future commitments. * Identify and track key solar PV modules installation metrics for tier 1 solar tracker vendors. * Support on the development of Maximo operations plan based on project requirements within the established schedule. * Manage project teams, partners and third-party companies across project development, engineering, and construction. * Work across Maximo and AES leadership teams to build excitement and confidence around Maximo vision and objectives, and secure direct and indirect resources. * Prepare business to meet the necessary milestones to embark on larger scale deployments. * Foster relationships and work collaboratively with AES businesses and platform units in the US, Americas and Eurasia related to the use of this technology in their region. * Support periodic project updates and reporting to senior managers through preparation of project status and budget reports. Job Description As a Robotics Hardware Engineer in the Maximo team, you will lead the development of advanced robotics systems and components. You will be a key player in the development of the whole robotics HW that enables Maximo, our solar module installation robotic system. Duties will include designing, developing, and integrating complex robotics systems, as well as leading the technical roadmap for the Robotics hardware aligned with our vision and Product Roadmap. A successful candidate has a strong technical understanding of industrial robotics system hardware design, combined with experience with a 0 to 1 as well as scaling robotics products. They will be entrepreneurial, mission-driven individuals responsible for actively progressing, developing, and executing the technical vision of the solar module installation robotic system. This person will be responsible for the definition, design, development, and improvement of complex mechanical systems such as robotics applications, heavy machinery, trailers, vehicles, and ruggedized products, in close collaboration with robotics, controls, and vision/AI engineers. As one of the engineering leaders at Maximo, this position will work collaboratively across the Maximo team, external industry partners across the value chain, and AES teams, including engineering, business development, construction, finance, supply chain, and strategy. Major Responsibilities Lead the mechanical design and development of advanced robotic systems, including components, subsystems, and assemblies, ensuring high quality, reliability, and manufacturability. Develop, design, or modify mechanical engineering layouts/schematics and/or detailed drawings/specifications of difficult scope. Translate product level requirements into subsystem/module/component technical design criteria. Perform detailed mechanical design and analysis, including stress analysis, tolerance analysis, and motion analysis. Own engineering release of subsystem design including component and module CAD (Computer Aided Design), Drawings, and BOMs (Bill of Materials). Develop and capture knowledge required to deliver subsystem level excellence through Design Guides, FMEA (Failure Mode Effect Analysis), DVP&R (Design Verification Plan and Report), A3's, Tolerance Stack Ups, and other documents. Derive from the Product and capability roadmaps a technical plan enabling expected performance and specifications. Coordinate prototype build plans to evaluate design concepts through physical lab testing. Apply systems safety methodologies as defined by industry standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software engineers, and control engineers, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components. Oversee the prototyping, testing, and validation of mechanical designs. Optimize designs for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and performance. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning. Requirements Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. Advanced degree preferred. 5+ years of experience in hardware design and development of robotic systems. Proven track record of successfully delivering complex robotic systems to market. Expert knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes. Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, NX). Demonstrated ability, either through previous projects, advanced education/research, and/or knowledge of the robotics field Familiarity with regulatory compliance (e.g., CE, FCC, UL), safety standards, risk assessment, product definition (sensors, power and electronics components) Excellent problem-solving, analytical skills and troubleshooting skills.
