Duties & Responsibilities
This is a full-time, hourly position throughout the year. The primary responsibility of the Gardener will be working a 1.5-acre garden area. We are looking for someone who is dedicated, a team player, dependable, flexible, good-humored, with a strong work ethic, and who is genuinely interested in growing wholesome food. Organization and self-motivation are imperative as is the ability to communicate with the numerous individuals that coalesce around this farming operation. Being able to support fellow workers and get along well with a variety of personality types is as important as being able to maintain speed with repetitive tasks.
Planting - greenhouse management, direct seeding, transplanting, field preparation.
Growing - weeding, trellising, pest and disease management, irrigation using drip/micro and sprinklers.
Harvesting - carrying out the harvest schedule, selecting and harvesting high quality produce for the needs of the inn and restaurant.
Maintenance - this garden is both productive and aesthetic. It is as much a source of produce and plant materials for the inn and restaurant as it is part of an overall experience of the inn. Therefore, the garden must be maintained to the aesthetic standards of the rest of the facilities.
Assist beekeeper (Garden Manager) with care and maintenance of onsite bee colonies to ensure they are healthy and productive.
Inn Ambassador - as the garden is an element of the inn experience, the Gardener must be able to interact with guests in a model keeping with the high standards of the inn and restaurant.
Special projects as assigned.
Job Skills/Requirements/Qualifications
One (1) year gardener / farm experience.
Beekeeping experience preferred.
Experience with power tools and equipment such as lawn mower, edger, rototiller and string trimmer preferable but not required.
Good understanding of the rhythm of farm work. This includes knowing the appropriate time to do certain tasks, both on a daily and weekly schedule, and also how long to allow for task completion and maintaining a schedule.
Ability to work a flexible schedule to include weekends, evenings and holidays.
Ability to effectively communicate with all team members.
An enthusiastic, positive demeanor and desire to provide exceptional guest service.
Successfully pass a pre-employment background check.
Possess a valid driver's license and pass a motor vehicle records check.
Working conditions/Physical Requirements
The position requires physical stamina.
The Gardener should be able to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted.
Comfortable with working with onsite beehives in addition to the garden.

Duties and Responsibilities - Essential Tasks
Possess a commitment to excellence in guest service and satisfaction
Perform all guest contact activities such as serving food and beverage, answering questions, etc., in a cordial, efficient, professional, and pleasant manner
Ability to service food and beverage in an efficient, quality-driven department
Ability to read a Banquet Event Order (BEO) and set a function space according to the specifications listed thereon
Ability to set-up, clean, and maintain banquet meeting rooms in a speedy, efficient, and accurate manner
Immediate communication of special requests, guest problems, or concerns to Banquet Manager or Banquet Captain
Embrace a team-oriented attitude when working with colleagues, supervisors, and other departments
Maintain, clean, and organize all departmental equipment and machinery
Ensure that all storerooms and pantries are keep clean, organized, and secured
Follow all opening and closing procedures as detailed by the Banquet Manager or Banquet Captain
Follow all rules and regulations of The Allison Inn & Spa Food and Beverage Department
Enforce all sanitation and food safety regulations
Maintain a positive attitude and pleasant disposition during stressful situations
Perform any reasonable request assigned by the Banquet Manager, Banquet Captain, or other member of The Allison Inn & Spa management team
Thorough knowledge of the banquet menus
Suitable wine, beer, and cocktail knowledge to field questions during service
Ability to work with other servers to execute proper service sequence
Ensure tables are properly set at opening and after turnover
Adhere to side work requirements as set forth by Banquet Manager or Banquet Captains
Any additional duties assigned by management
Job Skills/Requirements/Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Some hospitality experience, preferably in banquets, catering, or restaurant
Familiar knowledge of banquet and catering service
Ability to effectively communicate with all team members
Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions
An enthusiastic, positive demeanor and desire to provide exceptional guest service
Minimum availability of two (2) days per week to include weekends, evenings, and holidays
Ability to work a flexible schedule to include weekends, evenings and holidays
Willingness to work long hours, irregular shifts, weekends, holidays, and banquet blackout days
Successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation
Must have current Oregon Food Handler's, or ability to obtain within thirty (30) days of hire
Must have current OLCC permit, prior to first shift
Adhere to The Allison Inn & Spa grooming and appearance standards, or ability to adjust appearance accordingly
Working conditions/Physical Requirements
Standing, walking, bending, reaching, and kneeling for extended periods of time up to eight (8) hours per shift
Work irregular hours dictated by banquet business
Use of hands and arms to feel, handle, reach, and touch
Ability to work indoors or outdoors events
Ability to transport and lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to lift 100+ pounds with assistance
May be subject to high noise levels
Work in a smoke-free and drug-free environment
