    The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides support and skills training to people with developmental and intellectual disabilities in a residential setting and within the community. Birch House is located on the outskirts of Carmel on off of Route 301, surrounded by beautiful reservoirs. It is a cozy two-story home of 11 very active ladies. They range in age from 30's to 80's. All of the ladies have different interests but one thing they all have in common is that they love to go out and shop! Whether to Department stores at the mall or the Dollar Tree, the ladies enjoy being out and about. They also love to go out to a variety of restaurants and even enjoy days at the park. While home they enjoy relaxing while watching TV, cooking, and doing arts and crafts. The ladies have different goals that they are working towards and could use your support in accomplishing. If you are looking to develop meaningful relationships and helping people reach their personal best, come join us at Birch House! A high school diploma or GED is desired. Post-high-school education in Human Services is a definite plus. An acceptable NYS driver's license and basic computer knowledge are a must. An informative, paid new hire orientation is provided in a comfortable learning environment. Training will also include Van Certification, SCIP, First Aid/CPR, and Medication Administration certification. We help individuals to reach their potential for independence through implementing this theory of change. Position SUMMARY : The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for providing individualized support and training to adults with developmental disabilities in their own homes and communities. DSPs promote independence, inclusion, safety, and quality of life in accordance with Title 17 regulations, agency policies, and person-centered principles outlined in each participants Individual Program Plan (IPP) and Individual Service Plan (ISP). Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assist participants with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as cooking, cleaning, hygiene, and shopping. Document daily services and progress notes accurately and timely in accordance with agency and Regional Center requirements. Encourage skill-building and self-determination through consistent coaching and positive reinforcement. Follow agency policies for medication assistance (if applicable), emergency preparedness, and safety procedures. Implement ISP goals designed to promote independence in areas such as communication, self-advocacy, budgeting, recreation, and transportation, etc. Participate in ongoing trainings, supervision, and staff meetings as required by Title 17 and agency policy. Report special incidents, behavioral concerns, and changes in participant condition immediately to the supervisor. Support participants in maintaining a safe, clean, and healthy living environment. Support participants with scheduling and attending medical appointments, classes, and community activities. Uphold participant rights, dignity, privacy, and confidentiality as outlined in Title 17 and HIPAA. The duties and responsibilities listed above are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed of a Direct Support Professional. Required Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or GED required; some college or relevant coursework preferred. Ability to clear DOJ/FBI background check, TB test, and any other licensing requirements. Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire). Position Overview The Funeral Arranger plays a critical role in guiding families through the funeral and memorialization process. Working collaboratively with licensed funeral directors and cross-functional teams, this role ensures services are seamless, personalized, and aligned with Cypress Lawn's high standards of excellence. You will serve as a trusted guide-listening carefully, coordinating details, and ensuring each family's expectations are not only met, but exceeded. Key Responsibilities Meet with families to listen, guide, and assist in arranging personalized funeral and memorial services Clearly explain service and merchandise options with cultural sensitivity and professionalism Arrange, conduct, and assist with funeral, memorial, chapel, church, and cemetery services Prepare and accurately complete all documentation related to funerals, cremations, permits, death certificates, obituaries, and internal records Process and file Death Certificates, Interment/Cremation Permits, and required regulatory paperwork in accordance with California law Create, maintain, and manage complete and accurate family case files Coordinate service details with clergy, celebrants, cemeteries, military or fraternal organizations, and other participants Collaborate closely with preparation, administrative, service, and cemetery teams to ensure seamless execution Assist with chapel and graveside setup and breakdown, including seating, flowers, ceremonial items, and personal keepsakes Deliver flowers, urns, caskets, photos, and memorial items with care and discretion Drive funeral vehicles and assist with transportation logistics as needed Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and perform data entry with accuracy and timeliness Participate in community events and special functions that support Cypress Lawn's mission and reputation Ensure full compliance with all professional, municipal, state, and federal regulations Represent Cypress Lawn with warmth, professionalism, and integrity at all times Perform other duties as assigned in support of operations and family care Why Cypress Lawn A legacy organization with over 130 years of trusted service A culture rooted in teamwork, compassion, and excellence Meaningful work that truly impacts families and the community Opportunities for professional growth and long-term career development Competitive compensation and benefits (details discussed during the interview process) Requirements Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required Fluency in Spanish or Chinese (spoken) is required; English fluency required Prior experience in funeral service, hospitality, healthcare, or a professional customer-service role strongly preferred Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport quickly Strong computer proficiency and comfort with data entry and case management systems Ability to multitask, stay organized, and work calmly under pressure Deep respect for the sensitive and emotional nature of funeral service Confident communicator, comfortable speaking with families and groups Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record Ability to lift at least 50 lbs and assist with physical aspects of services Availability to work weekends and a flexible schedule as business needs require Work Environment & Physical Requirements Duties are performed in both office and service environments, including chapels, churches, and cemetery grounds Outdoor work may involve exposure to varying weather conditions and uneven terrain Regular standing, walking, bending, and light lifting are required Must follow all safety procedures and protocols If you are bilingual, compassionate, detail-oriented, and seeking a career where your work truly matters, we invite you to join the Cypress Lawn team.
