As a Behavioral Health Technician, you will supervise and interact with clients, teach responsible living skills, and document services as you help BUILD BETTER FUTURES.
Wage: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour
Job Type: Part-time
Shift: 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, 11pm-7am every Friday, Saturday & Sunday
In this role, you will:
Provide direct supervision, leadership, and serve as a role model to clients while interacting in a therapeutic and meaningful manner.
Implement the daily activity schedule and structure and coordinate client activities, such as Family Night, Structured Recreation, etc.
Facilitate and document various psycho-educational groups via standardized curricula.
Conduct scheduled and random head counts to provide effective people security.
Assist with mentoring and on-the-job training of newer team members.
Support the Abraxas philosophy and mission and promotes the Seven Key Principles of care.
Hiring Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
Must possess a valid Vermont Driver's License
Must be 21 years of age or older
Must be able to pass physical and pre-employment drug/alcohol screening
Must pass criminal background check investigation
Flexibility to work overtime as required.

Job Description:
The position of behavior staff will be to take part in working with and teaching children with disabilities as part of a team. The individuals who are chosen to work as a behavior intervention staff will be trained by ABSI's Behavior consultants and Behavior Specialists. All employees will be trained in the basics of Applied Behavior Analysis, specifically a teaching technique called Discrete Trial Training and Natural Environment Training. The training will also include information on how to implement other teaching methodologies that have proven to be helpful with children with autism, in addition to your role and responsibilities, and professionalism. The behavior intervention staff will specifically conduct structured teaching in the family's home and/or school environment. They are to implement changes made to the child's home program/school programs and ensure that they are taking daily data on each program/goal taught. Client Monitoring & Support

Assist in training new BHT staff.
Communicate department needs to the Administrator.
Attend all scheduled meetings and training sessions.
Facilitate client groups under the supervision of the Administrator and Director of Substance Abuse Counseling Services.
Qualifications / Required Experience
A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a behavioral health, addiction recovery, or residential care setting is preferred.
Ability to remain awake and alert during all working hours.
Knowledge of or willingness to be trained in observing UDS and medication self-administration procedures.
CPR certification required (or must be obtained within 30 days of hire).
Knowledge of Joint Commission requirements preferred.

Provides direct client supervision and interacts therapeutically.
Interacts with educational team as needed to ensure appropriate educational placement.
Interprets treatment objectives for other treatment staff members and assists with providing integrated services.
Participates in treatment team conferences regarding client behavior, diagnosis, and progress; participates in treatment planning conferences and aftercare planning for assigned clients.
Develops and updates clients' individualized treatment plans.
Minimum Requirements:
The following educational requirements are acceptable for this classification including:
Master's Degree from an accredited university in a clinical mental health discipline, such as: Psychology, Counseling, Clinical Social Work, Psychiatric Nursing, and Marriage and Family therapy. Master's Degree must include clinical coursework in the foundations of behavioral health and the provisions of mental health services; field work practicum is preferred. At least one year verified post-master's experience providing mental health treatment.
Participation and completion of mandatory in-services.
Participation in at least ten hours of documented additional in-service per year.
At least twenty-one (21) years of age
Valid Driver's License
Physical exam that includes TB and drug testing.
Must pass both federal and state background checks which screen for crimes including, but not limited to drug related crimes, violent crimes, sexual abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, and repeated misdemeanors.
Satisfactory completion of background screening and applicable pre-employment checks, including but not limited to employment and/or personal reference and driving records.
Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
