Ashforth's grandfather, Albert B. Ashforth, founded the real estate company Ashforth & Duryee in Manhattan in 1896.
1917: Built 12 East 44th Street which became offices for Ashforth.
1952: Completed residential development of Anderson Ridge in Greenwich, CT.
1953: Founding shareholder of UNICO Properties, which manages and leases office space in Seattle.
He married the former Georgia McCampbell Perkins in 1954.
Ashforth was among the first to capitalize on the trend of businesses to relocate in the suburbs, developing commercial properties in Connecticut in the 1960's and 70's.
1965: Development of Greenwich Plaza, a premier office complex located at the Greenwich train station.
Perhaps his best-known project is Greenwich Plaza, a 300,000-square-foot office building and retail complex at the town's train station, which was completed in 1970.
After college, Henry Ashforth joined the company, and in 1972 he became its chairman and chief executive.
1975: Stamford Square developed in partnership with GE Capital.
Stamford Square, a 270,000-square-foot office building in Stamford, was completed in 1980.
Ashforth moved its headquarters to this location in 1981 and later bought out its partner.
1981: A.P. Construction Company founded.
1988: Ashforth sold its New York City co-op management business with 80 buildings under management.
1989: Ashforth awarded the exclusive management and brokerage assignment of Stamford Harbor Park, a two-building, 400,000 sf office and marina.
1992: AEW awarded Ashforth with a management contract of EastRidge Properties, an 18 building, 2 million sf office portfolio in Westchester County, NY.
1994: A.P. Construction completed renovation of City of Stamford’s Newfield & Roxbury elementary schools.
1995: Ashforth purchased 20 acres in Portland, Oregon, including 600,000 sf of prime office space in six buildings and several future development sites.
1995: Ashforth established a West Coast division, Ashforth Pacific, Inc.
1995: A.P. Construction renovated Hyperion Software’s Stamford, CT-based worldwide headquarters.
1995: Ashforth honored with the prestigious BOMA Hall of Honor Award, a tribute to those who support and encourage economic growth in Westchester County.
1996: Ashforth was honored with the March of Dimes Real Estate Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Fairfield County Real Estate Community.
1996: Ashforth partnered with Stamford Hospital and has since been the Founding & Presenting Sponsor of the Hope in Motion Walk, Run & Ride benefitting the Bennett Cancer Center.
1997: Ashforth developed Liberty Centre in partnership with Liberty Northwest, a 17-story, 280,000 sf office tower in Portland, Oregon’s Lloyd District.
1998: Ashforth formed Boston-based Paradigm Properties, a real estate investment, development and management firm.
1998: Ashforth won Mass Mutual’s National Family Business of the Year Award in the medium category: 50 to 250 employees.
2000: Southern CT BOMA awarded Ashforth the 2000 Real Estate Company of the Year and Greenwich Plaza the Building of the Year Awards.
2000: Ashforth purchased Valley Forge Office Center, a six-building, 480,000 sf office complex in suburban Philadelphia.
2001: Ashforth purchased 707 Summer Street, a 3-story, 74,000 sf office building in downtown Stamford.
2001: BOMA Awards included: Lloyd Center Tower (Earth Award) (pictured); Liberty Centre (Building of the Year); 777 Westchester Avenue (Building of the Year).
2002: Ashforth completed $2.5 million in renovations to completely upgrade 707 Summer Street.
2003: Ashforth was awarded with two BOMA Building of the Year Awards for Nyala Farms (pictured) and Stamford Harbor Park.
2004: Ashforth and Boston-based Paradigm Properties formed Ashforth Paradigm Capital Advisors, a real estate investment advisory firm.
2004: Ashforth was awarded a BOMA Building of the Year Award for 707 Summer Street.
2005: Ashforth purchased the ODS Tower, a 400,000 sf office building in Portland’s Central Business District.
The assignment concluded in 2007 when the property was sold.
2007: Ashforth became Portland’s largest owner of Class A office space – 3 million square feet – with its purchase of Pacwest Center, a 30-story, 522,000 sf office tower.
2008: Liberty Centre achieved LEED-EB Silver certification for sustainable management practices.
2008: Ashforth sold the assets of Albert B. Ashforth, Inc. – Corporate Real Estate Brokerage.
2009: A.P. Construction completed LEED Gold certified Darien Library.
2009: Ashforth held its first annual Environmental Awareness Week event in both its owned and managed buildings to promote conservation.
2010: The Orrick Building achieved LEED-EB Platinum certification and the highest rated Platinum building in the United States
2011: Ashforth sold its West Coast subsidiary, Ashforth Pacific.
2011: Ashforth-sponsored cancer walk, Hope in Motion, reached $1 million fundraising goal.
2011: Ashforth completed the Corporate Sustainability Challenge, a year-long pilot program sponsored by Sustainable Stamford to reduce the impact of commercial buildings on the environment.
2012: Ashforth completed $12 million capital improvement and amenities program at 3001 Stamford Square.
2012: A.P. Construction completed 418,000 SF Chelsea Piers Connecticut project on schedule.
2013: A.P. Construction completed its 20th private club project in 10 years.
2013: Ashforth honored by The Business Council of Fairfield County’s Healthy Workplace Employer Recognition Program for promoting a healthy lifestyle through its Wellness Initiative Program.

2014: Ashforth’s 3001 Stamford Square was awarded the 2014 BOMA Southern CT TOBY Award in the 250,000-499,999 square foot category.
2014: A.P. Construction marked 20 years in the education sector, completing $500 million in education construction projects.
2015: A.P. Construction completed Phase 2 of Trinity Financial’s Park Square West (66 Summer Street) project – a $46 million, 225,000 square foot luxury, high rise mixed-use development consisting of 209 residential apartments with approximately 6,800 square feet of ground floor retail.
2015: The Hope in Motion Walk & Run celebrated its 20th anniversary.
2016: A.P. Construction completed a $32 million, 38,000 square foot renovation and addition for the White Plains Hospital in White Plains, NY.
2016: Ashforth continued to expand its multifamily housing portfolio by investing in two properties in the Washington, DC market.
2017: A.P. Construction completed the third phase of Metro Green, a 223,000 square foot, 11-story multifamily project located in Stamford, CT.
2018: A.P. Construction completed a $7 million, 13,000 square foot historical renovation and construction of Greenwich Historical Society’s reimagined campus located in Cos Cob, CT.
A.P. Construction completed the first phase in the early summer of 2019.
2020: Ashforth has marked 25-year milestones as a proud supporter and sponsor for both the March of Dimes Fairfield County Real Estate Award event and Stamford Health’s Bennett Cancer Center Hope in Motion Walk & Run.
