Job Summary
Tutors will work one-on-one and/or in small groups with boys between 7-13 years of age, who require special education instruction and modifications, administer diagnostics on boys with academic needs when appropriate, support other tutors in their instruction techniques, and help create strong programs (such as specific clubs or preparation courses).

Responsibilities
Plan, organize, and implement appropriate programs and lesson plans to enhance skill development of participants
Work regularly with the Education Director and other relevant staff to assess the needs of individual students and adapt lessons to meet those needs
Observe and track member progress and attendance
Reinforce positive student behavior and clubhouse rules; maintain a positive relationship with all members, families and staff
Write, implement and adapt a curriculum and training methods that meets participants' interests
Other duties as assigned
Attend required department meetings and professional development trainings
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree preferred with a focus in Special Education and/or other highly relevant field
At least 2 years of experience as a Special Education Tutor or classroom teacher
Experience working with students from 7-18 years old
Comfort with students and subject content for high school level
Teacher certification or formal education experience strongly preferred
Knowledge of NYC school standards preferred
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to adapt to a changing environment and address the varying needs of the boys

Responsibilities

Qualifications
Previous experience in youth development, education, or afterschool. Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; Junior level or higher preferred; Experience with multiple computer programs and software (e.g., Photoshop, Acrobat, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects); DOH and DOE fingerprinted desirable; First Aid and CPR Certification desirable; Advanced knowledge of Computer graphics, Web design, Animation, Online search skills; Ability to adapt to a changing environment and to address the varying needs of the boys in our program; Experience working with economically and educationally disadvantaged youth with a sound understanding of the social and cultural issues facing urban families is preferred.

Ensuring rest rooms and all spaces on site are free of debris, dust, and dirt as well as maintaining sanitary conditions throughout the day. This includes removing and cleaning garbage bins, washing walls and surfaces, cleaning fixtures, toilets and washbowls.
Records, Supplies and Equipment: Responsible for maintenance of Infection Control Logs, playground safety logs, carbon monoxide/smoke alarm and fire panel logs; Keeping inventory of distributed sanitary supplies and requesting more when needed; Repairing peeling paint, play equipment, furniture and other repairs on site as needed; Assisting in moving heavy items throughout the site.
Daily maintenance of site health and safety: Responsible for immediately repairing hazardous conditions on site, such as within the classroom and/or playground, replacing lights; contacting New York City Housing Authority, if located at a NYCHA to place tickets on necessary repairs that require NYCHA maintenance. Report to the Center Director of any necessary repairs and conditions. Work collaboratively with the Center Director to resolve any facility issues.

Job Summary
The Junior Director manages the development and implementation of BCNY's youth development program for boys, ages 10-12. They oversee an annual budget that sustains a programmatic focus on leadership, character, life-skills, and healthy living, and provides opportunities for youth to build knowledge, skills, and values in a meaningful and fun context through evidence-based curriculum and lesson plans. The Junior Director hires and supervises frontline staff and volunteers, and works closely with the Assistant Clubhouse Director and program development staff to create effective programs.
Responsibilities
Manage all aspects of age-specific programs and activities for boys ages 10-12, including life skills, recreation, character development, and healthy living. This includes planning, organizing, ensuring successful implementation, and data collection.
Plan and conduct creative activities that provide members decision-making and leadership opportunities
Organize and maintain the junior room program area to foster physical and emotional safety, encourage creativity, and meet member needs.
Oversee the staffing and management of all part-time staff and volunteers, including staff recruitment, hiring, onboarding, evaluating performance, and coaching
Manage staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage and providing coverage as needed
Lead professional development, staff meetings, and trainings for part-time staff as needed
Create a positive work atmosphere that fosters teamwork and a constructive exchange of ideas
Ensure that all staff members adhere to behavior, discipline, and safety policies
Work with the Assistant Clubhouse Director to establish and enforce behavioral expectations and procedures for maintaining order

Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Age Group Director, oversee the implementation and facilitation of programs and curricula
Assist in the planning and management of daily activities in the clubhouse and external spaces
Assist Age Group Director with special events, parent activities, and trips
Assist Age Group Director in managing training, supervision, and evaluation of frontline staff and volunteers
Use behavior management strategies to defuse inappropriate behavior and communicate behavior incidents with the Age Group Director and other necessary staff
Attend mandatory professional development trainings
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Previous experience in youth development, education, or afterschool
Strong communication skills with an ability to communicate effectively with young children, staff, and parents
Experience managing multiple priorities
Well organized, able to work both independently and collaboratively
Experience managing staff preferred
Associates' or Bachelor's degree preferred
First Aid and CPR certification desirable

New employees will be asked to submit proof of full vaccination prior to their start date. Responsibilities
Teach half-hour sessions per working day scheduled (Some one-on-one, some small group sessions)
Record Annual Pre and Post Observations
Keep Attendance Records (Parent outreach when needed)
Work in small groups for end of season performances
Care of equipment in State-of-the-Art studios
Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of a group of 10-21 boys (ages 7-9 or 10-12)
