1996

In 1996 The Chase Manhattan Corporation merged with the nation’s second largest bank, the New York-based Chemical Banking Corporation, to form what was then the largest bank in the United States.

1998

In 1998, Banc One Corp. merged with First Chicago NBD, under the name of Bank One Corp.

2000

The Chase Manhattan Corporation, former American holding company that merged with J.P. Morgan & Co. in 2000 to form J.P. Morgan Chase & Co.

Bank One tests an early version of home banking called Channel 2000.

2004

Bank One of Chicago merged with JPMorgan Chase in 2004.

Although the original design featured multiple colors and patterns, in 2004 the solid blue octagon was adopted.

2010

In 2010, J.P. Morgan acquired full ownership of its U.K. joint venture, J.P. Morgan Cazenove, one of Britain’s premier investment banks.”

2012

In May 2012 JPMorgan Chase announced that an investment unit of the bank had lost some $2 billion through a complex series of trades in derivatives, including credit-default swaps (CDSs).

2018

Building on its original investment, the firm expands the program in 2018 with a new five-year $350-million commitment.
