The Christian Academy company history timeline

1969

In 1969, a group of mothers set forth to provide an education for their children in an environment shaped by their common Christian values.

1978

UC Academy was established in 1978 as a ministry of Upland First Church of the Nazarene, operating under the name “Ninth Street Christian School” and later as “Upland Christian Schools.” The school was originally located in Upland, California, and only offered pre-school and elementary grades.

School History and Organization: In 1978, a group of concerned Christian parents from Cypress Bible Church started CCS. They incorporated as the CCCS Society, Inc. and began with 18 students in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades in the facilities of Cypress Bible Church.

1996

First Christian Academy started in 1996 as Education Station, which was a year round preschool for 2 -4 year olds and kindergarten.

1998

In 1998, Lucas Christian Church (now Resonate Church) formed a team to research how to form a school.

In the fall of 1998, three families, having nothing more than faith, met to discuss and pray for the development of a Christian school in the Frisco area.

1999

In 1999, LCA leased facilities from Frisco Bible Church.

2000

Established in 2000, Lucas Christian Academy (LCA) is a hybrid-model school with approximately four hundred students in kindergarten through twelfth grades located in Lucas, TX, a suburb community of Dallas.

2003

Legacy was given permission to begin the accreditation process, and in 2003 became accredited with the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

2004

LCA became a charter member of National Association of University-Model Schools (NAUMS) in 2004 and was a pioneer of this hybrid model of schooling.

2004 A new student activity center with four classrooms, concession stand, weight room, home and visitor locker rooms, and a 1200-seat gymnasium was opened during Homecoming 2004.

2005

2005 In the fall of 2005, another eight-classroom modular building learning cottage was completed on the Elementary campus.

2006

In February of 2006, LCA became autonomous from the church and began to prayerfully seek God’s plan for a permanent home.

2006 In 2006, HCA was fully accredited from SACS and Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). Published in the Atlanta Business Chronicle ranking Atlanta’s 75 Largest Christian Schools, Hebron Christian Academy ranked 16th in largest private Christian schools in the Atlanta Metro area.

2007

2007 A 10-classroom building opened on the High School campus in 2007, along with three practice fields.

2008

In 2008, the Nazarene Church wanted to merge UC Academy with another school to form a large school district.

2008 In 2008, Hebron Christian Academy undertook the largest building program in its history.

2009

In July 2009, LCA purchased the sixteen acres adjoining the church property.

She has served as Director since December of 2009 and works to maintain a safe, organized and fun learning environment for our youngest students (infant through VPK).

With 350 students, the school re-constituted as an independent Christian school and began operating as “Upland Christian Academy” in 2009.

In 2009, the Upper School gymnasium opened as the first phase of a separate Upper School facility, accommodate the growing number of athletes and teams.

2010

In 2010, Kohl’s Department Stores announced the Kohl’s Cares for Kids® Facebook contest.

2010 2010 brought tremendous growth in the athletic program, and plans were undertaken to expand the athletic facilities for our students.

2011

2011 In 2011, Hebron Christian Academy had an enrollment of 1,007 students and a graduating class of 79.

2012

In 2012, the school had the blessing of relocating to First Baptist Church in New Port Richey.

Building for the Sports Complex was set to begin in the spring of 2012.

Tim Hillen was appointed as Headmaster in the spring of 2012 and began his work at HCA in the fall of the same year.

2012 In 2012, Hebron Christian Academy played its first GHSA football game on its home field.

2014

On August 9, 2014, LCA moved into its 43,000 square foot school building.

2017

In August 2017, CCS entered its 40th year of providing an education based on academic excellence and biblical values.

In 2017, the school changed its name to “United Christian Academy” (aka “UC Academy” and “UCA”) to better identify with our new community.

2020

2020 In July 2020, Hebron Christian Academy welcomed Doctor James Taylor as the new Head of School.
