The Christian and Missionary Alliance company history timeline

1887

In 1887, compelled by a sense of urgency to take the message of Jesus Christ to all nations, Simpson was used by God to give birth to The Christian and Missionary Alliance.

1918

In May 1918 Simpson retired after more than 50 years of service to the cause of Christ.

1919

After Simpson’s death in 1919, Doctor Paul Rader, a dynamic evangelist and pastor, was chosen to lead the C&MA. During this era the “tabernacle strategy” became popular.

1926

1941

In 1941, the Western Canadian Bible Institute was opened in Regina as a direct result of the need for trained workers.

1965

By 1965, the churches adopted a denominational function and established a formal statement of faith.

1974

In 1974, The Christian and Missionary (C&MA) officially became a denomination, but it still had at its core a heart for overseas missions.

Begun in 1974 as an outreach to refugees fleeing the Indochina conflict, CAMA now works in refugee camps in Thailand, and has worked with refugees in Hong Kong, Lebanon, Jordan, and Guinea, and famine victims in Burkina Faso and Mali.

1980

An autonomous Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada came to a new direction during the founding Assembly held in Winnipeg in June 1980.

1981

A constitution was adopted, a president elected, and a Board of Directors chosen in preparation for full Canadian autonomy January 1, 1981.

2003

AYMission was started in 2003 by Matt Peace as a way of facilitating youth short-term mission trips.

2004

In the C&MA 2004 annual report estimated that outside of the United States and Canada, C&MA membership exceeds 3 million.

2005

CAMA Services worked together with local C&MA churches in 2005 to provide Hurricane Katrina relief in the USA

Taipei, Taiwan- In 2005 work was started in Taipei in the Ximen area and continues to grow.

In 2006 the camps expanded to Siem Reap.
