Our Ridley Area YMCA is currently hiring for Group Fitness Instructors. Shifts will include day, evenings and weekends and substitute for all shifts.
Instructs group classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement. Works with the Health and Fitness Director and continually communicate all information pertaining to all necessary programs. This position will be expected to promote the values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility in every activity associated with the YMCA. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes.
2. Training is a condition of employment.
3. Maintaining the highest safety standards in every aspect of program operations.
4. Working closely with the Health and Fitness Director to ensure good communication and operations of all programs.
5. Adhering to all YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
6. Distributing all communication materials in coordination with the Health and Fitness Director.
7. Attending clinics, workshops and staff meetings as assigned by the Health and Fitness Director.
8. Maintaining accurate records for all programs.
9. Completes accident/incident reports for any occurrences while on duty.
10. Assisting in all special events relating to the YMCA.
11. Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
12. Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
13. Maintains a professional attitude and appearance at all times.
14. Any other duties deemed necessary to ensure the success of the Community YMCA of Eastern Delaware County.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum age of 18.
2. Certifications: Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR/AED, and First Aid.
3. Nationally recognized Fitness Certification or Y Foundations of Strength Certification within 6 months of hire.
4. Completion of required trainings.
5. Specialty certification in areas of expertise.
6. In-Training for 30-60 days.
7. Excellent communication skills.
8. A commitment to continuous quality program improvements.
9. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Ability to conduct classes and activities.
2. Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
3. Able to lift and carry 15-50 lbs.

· Nationally Recognized PersonalTrainer Certification Required. ACE, NASM, ACSM preferred. Other certifications considered at discretion of YMCA of the Chesapeake. Demonstration of skills and competencies may be required.
· Previous experience working with diverse population in personal training preferred.
· Reliable and timely.
· Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.

Responsibilities
The Fitness Specialist provides comprehensive fitness services to members and guests of
the Center. The use of superior customer service in providing innovative programming to each Center member is
required. Must be able to be flexible in support of the Kroc Center team in all areas of center operation, as
needed and assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Exercise Science or related health/fitness field. Prior work experience or successfully completed internship in fitness industry preferred. Personal training certification (ACSM, NASM or NSCA) preferred. Current CPR/AED required. Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills required. Must be able to read, write and communicate in English. Must have ability to work and relate well with people. Proficiency in oral and written communication skills. As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every three years thereafter. Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check. Must possess understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army and the RJKCCC.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Project LIFE Skills Trainer provides vocational training to student interns enrolled in Project Life programming during their work-based learning experiences. Utilize positive motivational strategies and techniques that help individuals attain identified goals.
External Hiring Range: $17.50 up to $18.55/hour
Retention Bonus: $1,000 after 90 days of employment.
Schedule: Monday - Friday (7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.) Start and end times are flexible. A shift is 7.5 hours. The schedule may vary depending on departmental needs.
Travel Required: Some travel to community sites in Allegheny County may be required.
