Job Summary:
Process once in a lifetime cord blood and cord tissue samples that are received at CBR Tucson, ensuring that the samples are treated with the highest regard for quality and efficiency under the direction of the Stem Cell Processing leadership team.
Essential Functions & Accountabilities:
Essential functions and accountabilities include, but are not limited to the following:
* Process cord blood and cord tissue samples at all workstations trained and maintain certifications.
* Adhere to guidelines set forth in safety manual. Understand job hazard analysis concerns and communicate safety issues, deviations from procedures, anomalies, and abnormalities to responsible parties.
* Perform all assigned duties in compliance with internal policies, processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as well as external regulations as determined by regulatory agencies.
* Responsible for remaining current in all training.
* Audit, verify, and maintain accurate records.
* Maintain donor, client, and employee confidentiality.
* Perform repetitive tasks, while maintaining attention to detail.
* Evaluate disposables and equipment for non-conformities and notify responsible parties (QC, Supervisor, and/or Management).
* Perform daily department startup /shutdown checklist tasks and documentation.
* Perform general lab cleaning and maintenance.
* As business needs dictate, works extended hours to complete daily department goals or tasks to include mandatory overtime.

Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Emergency Department Pharmacist, the Medication History Technician will obtain medication histories through documentation review and patient/family/significant other interviews for patients arriving via the Emergency Department to be admitted to the inpatient units.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Obtain home medication histories by interviewing the patient/family/significant other for patients arriving through the Emergency Department to be admitted to the inpatient units.
Utilize the external prescription history, patient's electronic medical record (EMR), and the patient's pharmacy to verify the correct medication history. This includes but is not limited to prescription, non prescription, herbals, and supplements.
Compile all of the information obtained to determine a complete medication history including the medication name, dose, frequency, and adherence.
Document the correct medication history in the EMR.
Positively interacts with patients, other hospital guests, and hospital staff to enhance the quality of service provided.
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
CT Pharmacy Technician registration. CPhT is preferred but not required.
1 - 2 years of retail or medication reconciliation experience preferred
An appropriate level of understating and training in medical terminology and medication related terms. Current/fluent in pharmacy terminology, medications and dosages.
Proficient with using a computer, typing, and organization.
Required to concentrate for extended periods of time, provide high output of work on short notice, establish priorities, make quick accurate decisions.

Make independent decisions regarding sample non-conformities in accordance with SOPs and regulatory requirements.
Responsible for maintaining the quality system.
Troubleshoot problems and help to develop improved procedures.
Account for all samples processed and matrix deviations while functioning as Point Supervisor.
Generate service tickets, nonconformance report (NCR) and deviations (DEVs) to document and correct/prevent processing issues.
Perform root cause analysis and develop corrective actions for deviations and non-conformities noted within the Processing department.
Audit, verify, and maintain accurate records for each sample.
Maintain donor, client, and employee confidentiality.
Perform the final review of processing records prior to document archival.

Schedule/ Work Hour Requirements:
This is an onsite position in Tucson, AZ
Work hours dictated by the requirements of the lab; flexible to work alternate schedules, able to work mid-shifts, weekends, and holidays. This role will be Wed-Sat (4/10) 1:30pm-12:00am
Responsible for monitoring work hours to avoid the accrual of overtime.
Must report to work within 1.5 hours from the receipt of notification if “On Call” for a given shift.
Flexible to accommodate scheduling gaps and staffing challenges.

Experience / Education:
Bachelor's or Associate degree in a Laboratory Science or MLT/CLT;
and/or two years of experience working at CBR with one year experience as a processing technician;
and/or one year experience working at CBR with six months leadership experience as a Technician III;
and/or equivalent combination of education/experience.
