Elizabeth Whitehouse is a seventh generation Kentuckian with a strong heritage of civic involvement and leadership. She currently serves as the Director of the Center of Innovation at The Council of State Governments, or CSG. Elizabeth leads CSG's portfolio of $36.4 million in policy work funded through grants, cooperative agreements and contracts across a wide spectrum of policy areas including elections, cybersecurity, interstate compacts, P-20 education policy, workforce development, disability employment and occupational licensure. Previously, she served as the Director of Education and Workforce Development at CSG. Prior to coming to CSG, Elizabeth served in Governor Steve Beshear's administration where she co-wrote Kentucky's successful $44.3 million Race to the Top grant application. She helped shepherd through early childhood legislation and was charged with the budget and planning recommendations for the state's $25 million tobacco settlement funds for early childhood programs. As Policy Advisor to the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet Secretary, she helped revitalize the career and technical education system and worked on stabilizing the Commonwealth's unemployment insurance fund. Prior to serving in the Beshear administration she served as the Deputy Director of Policy and Communication for the Kentucky State Treasurer’s Office. Maggie Mick serves as Chief Advancement Officer for The Council of State Governments, or CSG, nationally headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky.

For two terms, she held public office as a member of the Lancaster City Council. Previous to CSG, she served as an aide in the United States Congress. In 2011 and 2015, she was chosen to represent the United States on international delegations of public officials and industry leaders to China and Turkey with the American Council of Young Political Leaders.

Maggie has received local and statewide recognition including \'Top Women in Business\' in Kentucky by the Lane Report and the Kentucky Commission for Women’s Bluegrass Alliance for Women Impact Award.

She serves on the boards of directors for the American Council of Young Political Leaders and Washington Area State Relations Group, both in Washington, D.C. She is past president of the Living Arts & Science Center in Lexington.

She is proud wife to Nathan Mick and mother to Beatrice “Birdie” Mick. The Mick family resides in Lexington.
