Responsibilities
Supervisory responsibilities of a MEPS Infrastructure Department Manager include:
The MEPS Infrastructure Group consists of the following 4 disciplines, Power System Studies, Electrical Distribution and Medium Voltage System Design, Water & Waste-Water Electrical System Design, and SCADA System design. Each of these disciplines will have a Market Segment Expert (MSE) or Subject Matter Expert (SME) that will report directly to the MEPS Infrastructure Manager. The MEPS Infrastructure Manager will have all responsibilities of developing & managing this group to meet the stated goals of the company for the group.
Growing, mentoring, and developing the staff within discipline area to allow each person to achieve their maximum potential.
Minimum annual evaluations for each direct reports.
Providing technical guidance/leadership/management for all MEPS Infrastructure staff.
Organizing staff in a way to allow career advancement, professional development, quality client service, and operational efficiencies to meet business and project financial goals.
Taking a very active role in recruitment of staff in discipline area including networking, recruitment, interviewing and “deal closing”.
Required Skills & Required Experience
Accomplished (10+ years' experience) Electrical Professional Engineer.
Experience in power system studies, electrical medium voltage distribution system design, water & waste-water electrical system design, AND/OR SCADA system design preferred.
Experience in the design of various Electrical systems, and an understanding of document preparation utilizing a BIM/Revit platform.
Knowledgeable of construction process, self-motivated with highly developed verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
Experience in staff management/department management.
Technical and Quality oversight of all project work.
Establishing/improving standards.
Adherence to project schedule.
Adherence to project budget. Review and provide updates on project budgets at milestone dates. Reviewing budgets weekly.
Attention to project scope during the design process to identify potential additional services.
Identify staff performing design of the project, along with a senior staff member if required.
Engineer of Record.
Provide general updates of projects (status in the process, tasks to complete, percentage complete currently, etc.)
Identify milestone dates when each discipline should provide information, at each phase, to allow sufficient time to good design coordination.
Provide 'on-the-spot' advice and decisions, technical and cost estimates.
Customer, sales & performance focused.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
High aptitude for abstract reasoning, assertiveness and thoroughness.
Working knowledge of electrical distribution systems and equipment, including switchgear, panelboards, MCC's, circuit breakers and fuses.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Working knowledge of NEC and NFPA 70E.
Coordination with all of the disciplines involved, including outside consultants.

Department Managers are responsible for the performance of the Department they manage including sales, product quality, financial performance, recruiting, and customer satisfaction.

Well organized, takes good notes. Good conceptual understanding of electrical systems with general knowledge of system operation, space requirements, cost.

Prepare and perform quality reviews of other Engineer's work on deliverables such design calculations, engineering reports, construction drawings, and technical specifications.
Perform engineering estimates for cost and project schedules.
Responsible for quality control and serve as Lead Verifier following AECOM Quality Control policies and procedures.
Mentoring and technical development of junior staff, supporting them to achieve technical success. The candidate should have a high level of technical expertise and experience in supervising and training staff in geotechnical analyses.
Perform as Capture Manager for new opportunities including business development pre-positioning and the preparation of proposals.
Collaborate with technical leads in our Dam Engineering Practice with staff located throughout AECOM.
Client facing role with ownership and responsibility for the successful delivery of dam engineering projects and programs including business development for new and existing clients.
Flexibility and willingness to travel for project work part time as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with demonstrated coursework in Geotechnical Engineering+ 10 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Licensed as a Professional Engineer in at least one state with the ability to successfully apply for reciprocity in additional states.
Relevant experience with dams projects, including rehabilitation and/or new design and construction.
Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams.
Experience in relevant geotechnical engineering software programs such as GeoStudio and gINT.
Valid U.S. Driver's License and as a condition of employment, must be able to pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records review.
Due to the nature of work, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
15 years of experience in Dams Engineering and/or Geotechnical Engineering.
Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
Project experience with the US Army Corps of Engineers or the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
Approved Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Part 12 Independent Consultant.
Ability to complete the Managing AECOM Projects training and receive the AECOM Project Manager certification.
