Join us. **Job Description** **AECOM** is seeking **Safety, Health & Environmental Site Officer II** based in New York, New York office. **This is full-time onsite position for an on-going project in Staten Island, NY.** **The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:** + Implementing the requirements of AECOM's Construction Manager's (CM) EHS Management Plan (EHSMP) and Environmental Health and Safety Plan (EHASP). + Support the CM in preparation of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) in accordance with Client standards. + Support the CM in conducting various training for CM staff including new employee orientations, visitor orientations and Emergency Action Plan training. + Review all EHS related submittals by the Contractors, including, but not limited to, EHASPs, JHAs, monthly reports, asbestos/lead/mercury/PCB management and sampling plans, waste management plans, soil re-use, hazardous waste contingency plans, erosion and sediment control plans, and Stormwater Pollution Prevent Plans (SWPPP) to verify comprehensive oversight of all site activities. + Facilitate weekly EHS meetings with the Contractor's EHS Representative (EHSR), and other project management personnel as appropriate, to ascertain and discuss upcoming construction related activity EHS activities. + Conduct frequent construction site visits. + Track and monitor the Contractor's compliance with EHASP(s) and JHA(s). + Track and monitor all site EHSRs' performance including, but not limited to, reviewing the EHSR's daily reports and whether EHS issues are being adequately addressed. + Perform and submit daily reports of the Contractors' Work areas and document non-compliance with the Contractor's EHASPs and JHAs. + Review Contractor's incident reports for adequacy, participate in meetings related to construction related incidents, and verify all necessary Contractor corrective actions are implemented. + Submit EHS monthly status reports and metrics. Position Summary The Process Engineering Intern supports the planning, evaluation, and design of water and wastewater treatment facilities under the guidance of licensed engineers. This role is designed to build foundational process engineering skills through exposure to calculations, modeling, field work, and design documentation. Essential Functions * Assist with process evaluations and preliminary design tasks for water and wastewater treatment facilities. * Support preparation of calculations, technical memoranda, process flow diagrams, and design criteria. * Help develop portions of reports, drawings, and specifications in coordination with civil, mechanical, electrical, and I&C teams. * Support process modeling, data analysis, and research using industry-standard tools. * Participate in field investigations, facility assessments, pilot studies, and site visits when applicable. * Organize technical information, review data, and assist senior engineers with project deliverables. Required Qualifications * Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline. * Strong interest in water and wastewater treatment processes. * Familiarity with basic engineering calculations and technical documentation. * Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. * Strong written and verbal communication skills. * U.S. work authorization required. Physical Requirements * While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be required to: * Sit, stand, and use standard office equipment for extended periods. * Lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally. * Walk on uneven terrain and navigate active construction sites safely. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: * Implementing the requirements of AECOM's Construction Manager's (CM) EHS Management Plan (EHSMP) and Environmental Health and Safety Plan (EHASP). * Support the CM in preparation of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) in accordance with Client standards. * Support the CM in conducting various training for CM staff including new employee orientations, visitor orientations and Emergency Action Plan training. * Review all EHS related submittals by the Contractors, including, but not limited to, EHASPs, JHAs, monthly reports, asbestos/lead/mercury/PCB management and sampling plans, waste management plans, soil re-use, hazardous waste contingency plans, erosion and sediment control plans, and Stormwater Pollution Prevent Plans (SWPPP) to verify comprehensive oversight of all site activities. * Facilitate weekly EHS meetings with the Contractor's EHS Representative (EHSR), and other project management personnel as appropriate, to ascertain and discuss upcoming construction related activity EHS activities. * Conduct frequent construction site visits. * Track and monitor the Contractor's compliance with EHASP(s) and JHA(s). * Track and monitor all site EHSRs' performance including, but not limited to, reviewing the EHSR's daily reports and whether EHS issues are being adequately addressed. * Perform and submit daily reports of the Contractors' Work areas and document non-compliance with the Contractor's EHASPs and JHAs. * Review Contractor's incident reports for adequacy, participate in meetings related to construction related incidents, and verify all necessary Contractor corrective actions are implemented. * Submit EHS monthly status reports and metrics. Prepare monthly trending analysis of Contractor EHS performance. * Oversee Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) and drills for the site in coordination with Client staff. * Review and manage all EHS Annual Reports (i.e., EPCRA, Hazardous Waste, Confined Space). Qualifications Minimum Requirements * BA/BS in Safety, Engineering or related degree and 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. * CHST and/or ASP certification. * OSHA 10-hour Construction Health and Safety Course. * Knowledgeable in OSHA 29 CFR 1926 and 1910 Regulations.
