The Doe Run Company is seeking a Mine Trainee to learn how to perform any production job in the mine safely. This is a night shift position is located at Brushy Creek Mine Underground in Boss, MO. The work location may change as needed to support production and business needs within the Viburnum Trend in Southeast Missouri. Education & Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred. 0-6 months of work experience Ability to obtain ATF clearance. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Learn how to work safely in the mine environment. Demonstrated ability to be productive and maintain quality standards. Learn how to operate mobile and stationary equipment. Learn to use hand tools. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instruction. Responsibilities: Safely and efficiently hand scale or mechanically scale mine back and roof bolt, as needed Crush ore and run skip pocket as needed Gain a general knowledge of the mining cycle, including drilling, blasting, and mucking. Perform associated support jobs such as, transportation of explosives, operating a forklift, and preventative maintenance. Learn basic maintenance, equipment cleaning, and underground housekeeping tasks needed to perform efficiently in the mine environment. Conduct a pre-shift and work area inspection to ensure the work location and the equipment are safe and functioning properly. Perform other duties as assigned. Work Environment, Physical and Lifting: Regularly works underground and is exposed to moving, mechanical parts. Frequently exposed to wet, humid conditions, and works at heights of four feet or more, with fall protection. May work in confined spaces. Occasionally exposed to vibration and required to wear personal protective equipment, including, but not limited to, a respirator, hearing protection and eyewear. Required to work rotating shifts up to 7 days per week. Exposed to loud noise levels. Regularly requires hearing, feeling attributes of objects, grasping, pushing, standing, walking, driving, and reaching with hands/arms; frequently requires talking and repetitive movement; occasionally requires sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and climbing or balancing. Requires clarity of vision, three-dimensional vision, the ability to judge distance and spatial relationships, precise hand-eye coordination, and the ability to identify and distinguish colors. Regularly required to lift up to 25 pounds; frequently required to lift up to 50 pounds; occasionally required to lift up to 100 pounds.
