Donohoe Real Estate Services was established in 1884 as John F. Donohoe Real Estate, a residential real estate firm serving Capitol Hill.
John F. Donohoe & Sons relocates to a newly constructed building at 314 Pennsylvania Avenue SE in 1914, where the company expands its services to include property management, insurance, and lending.
In 1955, the company substantially broadens its offerings, opening Donohoe Construction Company and Donohoe Development Company.
Identifying a growing need for the building engineers and maintenance professionals, the company opens Complete Building Services in 1963.
The company celebrates 100 years in business in 1984, taking its place as the oldest family-owned full-service commercial real estate company in Washington.
Donohoe Hospitality Services launches in 2005 and quickly expands to manage hotels under the Marriott, Hilton, and Intercontinental Hotels Group brands.
The Donohoe Companies celebrates 125 years of business in 2009, under the leadership of fourth-generation family members.
In 2016, the company relocates to new dual headquarters at 7101 Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda, Maryland, and 5151 Wisconsin Avenue, NW in Washington, DC.
