A journalist with over two decades of experience in print and Online, my last formal job (before taking this assignment in 2006) was that of Editor, Times Interactive (Times of India group's web initiative), in 1999. During that stint, I launched the three major online initiatives of the Group viz The Times of India, The Economic Times and Indiatimes. In between, I also ran my own Internet company for some time and managed dynamic content areas of websites such as Yahoo India, MSN India, Mantra Online and Narad Online.

I am an active sportsperson and a trained high altitude mountaineer, and have successfully completed two Mumbai International marathons.

Apart from all this, I am closely involved with a school for the tribal children in Dehradun, North of India. The school, Information Technology Institute for the Tribes of India, is a fully residential, free institution and offers formal education to students who come from remote corners of India.

Analysing, forecasting and commenting on Telecom/IT, current affairs and social issues.

Complete knowledge of the print and web space, that includes, very importantly, a knowledge of what readers want. Running some of the largest websites in India, with international readership, has meant an in-depth knowledge and feel of what communities want, where, and at what time of the day.

Conceptualising/setting up/operating websites. Basically ideating, implementing and putting in place a structure that can generate content that is monetisable.

Managing large websites with all features, and that includes large teams necessary for the task.

Building alliances necessary for sourcing content from different parts of the world.

Language editions of websites.

Getting WAP and mobile sites readied across languages.
