Senior Executive and Physician with Biotech, Pharmaceutical and CRO ExperienceBeing both a business leader and a doctor has had a big impact on how I think and work towards integrating social value and financial returns. I also value creativity and curiosity, and I believe these have been instrumental in shaping my approach to problem-solving, scientific analysis, and leadership. My medical training and corporate roles have centered on trying to make a positive impact in healthcare to improve global human health. Right now, our industry faces one of our greatest public health challenges, and I believe it will accelerate progress and flexibility in the way clinical trials are conducted, how innovation in the science of new drugs and therapies is realized, and the way healthcare is delivered with technologies such as telemedicine and wearable devices. One of the highlights of my career was being given the opportunity to lead the clinical trials for the influenza vaccine, FluMist® - a stepping stone that widened my clinical research and drug development experience across a range of therapeutic areas. That’s one reason I feel so connected to Emmes. This Contract Research Organization’s scientists, statisticians and operations teams are passionate about making a positive impact on public health across the world through excellence in clinical research and the development of new life-saving medicines. The work my colleagues at Emmes are doing is truly making a difference in human health, and I’m proud to be leading the company.I’m also grateful to also be able to help startups and emerging businesses in our field by serving as an advisor board member for several biopharmaceutical, clinical research and genomics companies. Staying connected to the local community is important to me as well. I work with nonprofits whose missions I care deeply about. I’m on the board of directors for the Kennedy Center National Symphony Orchestra and a founding board member of Young Women Lead, a non-profit 501c3 organization focused on mentoring and teaching a 21st century leadership EDGE to young women.

Debra Bang is a Vice President & General Counsel at Emmes and Chief Counsel at Emmes and is based in Rockville, Maryland. She has worked as VP and Senior Corporate Counsel at Xerox Services and Sr. VP and Sr. Corp Counsel at Xerox Services. Debra attended Binghamton University between 1981 and 1985 and American University between 1985 and 1988.

Joe Sliman is a Chief Medical Officer at Emmes and is based in Frederick, Maryland. He has worked as Senior Dir:Clinical Research/Dir:Medical at SOCIAL & SCIENTIFIC SYSTEMS; Director, Clinical Development at Medimmune; and Head of Epidemiology and Threat Assessment at Navy Environmental and Preventive Medicine Unit 6. Joe works or has worked as BOARD MEMBER at Rotary Club of Southern Frederick County, BOARD MEMBER at Mental Health Association of Frederick County, and BOARD MEMBER at Trinity School of Frederick. He attended JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences between 1994 and 1998, and Penn State University between 1990 and 1994.

Lynn Lewis is a Senior VP:Global Sales at Envigo and Chief Business Officer at Emmes and is based in Rockville, Maryland. She has worked as VP:Business Development at Covance and Product Team Leader, Forteo at ELI LILLY & CO. Lynn studied at Bucknell University between 1975 and 1979, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill - Kenan-Flagler Business School between 1984 and 1986, and UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School.
