SUMMARY
The primary purpose of this position is to manage and optimize Client generation and load asset portfolios in bilateral and/or RTO markets. The trader will develop short-term strategies for generation offers, load bids, bilateral transactions, and transmission/congestion products for both client and proprietary positions. This position will work closely with Client dispatch and planning coordinators, and internal staff to make economic decisions on short-term and real-time unit issues and intra-day planning.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Client Resource Management/Optimization:
Ensures accurate submission of client load and assets.
Develops and maintains strong working relationships with appropriate staff at Clients.
Works with clients to define portfolio positions and develops short-term risk management strategies (physical and financial) to increase margin and lower power costs, while minimizing risk.
Coordinates with all necessary internal staff to bridge the gap between the longer-term strategies and the shorter-term trading functions.
Maintains current knowledge of TEA's client resource mix, including understanding of congestion impacts.
Reviews and participates in the decision-making process with Analytics on client congestion hedging strategies.
Accurately performs and records all trading functions for clients using trading tools, including (but not limited to) generation, load, purchases, sales, tags, deal information into the portals, and deal capture system.
Market/Industry Expert:
Obtains market discoveries to broaden our market knowledge and increase trading opportunities.
Ensures compliance with all applicable FERC orders, NERC, and other applicable reliability standards, and transmission tariffs and business practices.
Maintains current knowledge of markets (RTO and/or Bilateral) to include market business practice, tariff, and other market related information.
Develops strong working knowledge of market protocols and operations and takes advantage of ongoing learning opportunities.
Participates in Market related meetings.
Responsible for ensuring applications are up to date with market changes, analyzing impacts to TEA and clients of market changes, and disseminating all market notifications (including Tariff/BPM changes) for their respective markets.
Overnight(s) travel required attending industry functions, training seminars as well as visits to Members and Partners, as needed.
Works weekends/holiday as the schedule requires.
Ability to temporarily relocate out of the local area in times of natural disasters or for other business continuity reasons.
Technological Innovation:
Understands impacts of industry trends/technological change and leads clients and TEA adapt and capture value.
Gains and maintains proficiency with the analytical tools to assess the effectiveness of strategies.
Provides testing of new tools as TEA moves into new markets, as markets evolve, and as new Partners are added.
Consistently looks for new ways to use tools to improve workflow and output.
Uses various vendor and proprietary tools to conduct analysis including, but not limited to, PowerOptix, Yes Energy, Genscape, WSI, web Trader, etc.
Training and Development:
Trains new staff as well as other team members, including but not limited to Energy Schedulers, Hourly Traders, Portfolio Managers, and Members/Partners.
Is a resource on RTO/Bilateral market rules for TEA and Members/Partners.
Attends relevant Market and Technology training sessions as available in person and/or online.
Generates TEA Backed Margins:
Manages positions for TEA by negotiating short-term physical and financial energy transactions.
Identifies and captures opportunities that create value for TEA in transmission, bilateral, congestion products and virtual markets.
Coordinates with all necessary internal staff to bridge the gap between the longer-term strategies and the shorter-term trading functions.
Maintains current knowledge of TEA's resource mix.
Pro-actively pursues transmission opportunities for TEA.
Analyzes congestion trends, including line outages, anomalies, and opportunities.
Accurately performs and records all trading functions using trading tools, including (but not limited to) purchases, sales, tags, deal information into the portals, and deal capture system.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 5 year of energy industry-related experience in power trading and/or related trading floor function required.
Bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited college or university is required; MBA or other advanced degree is a plus.
Experience with RTOs and/or ISOs highly desired.
Experience trading financial energy products is a plus.
Strong technical skills with Microsoft Office Products (especially Excel); and programming skills in Visual Basic, or Python are highly desired.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
NERC certification is a plus.
National Futures Association Series 3 is a plus.
Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) is a plus.

Responsible for incident planning to provide for on and off-site dispatching as needed. Responsible for the Dispatching role during Storm and Outage Incidents. Serves as the Dispatching SME for emergency procedures and processes. Responsible for maintaining emergency equipment such as radios, hotspots, cell phones, satellite phones, and laptops. Responsible for the setup, maintenance and regular testing of a back-up dispatching location.
Analyzes service work management data to determine and track performance metrics. Contributes to performance goal setting for Operations related service work levels. Develops and delivers related communications, reports, and presentations.
Stays current in areas of expertise, leads in solving problems of the team
Provides leadership and coordinates within various business units and across the organization such as Customer Experience, Corporate Communications, Operations, Safety, IT&T, etc. for the performance or deployment of service related programs and solutions.

The Corporate Counsel role will have primary responsibility for commercial contracts and financial transactions. The Corporate Counsel will also support the day-to-day operations of TEA's legal department and assist in providing legal services on a variety of matters, including corporate governance, state registrations, intellectual property, dispute resolution, and other projects and initiatives.
What You'll Do:
Draft, review, negotiate, and interpret commercial contracts, including commodity agreements, professional services agreements, confidentiality agreements, master service agreements, consulting agreements, technology contracts, lease agreements, and procurement contracts.

What You Bring:

Corrects errors in a customer's gas usage and adjusts accounts arranging for a corrected bill to be mailed. Maintains as-built received from Contractors for entry into Mapping System. Processes General Service Agreements and creates job orders and premises for new account. Processes energy conservation rebates.
Customer Information and Order System Research, Tracking and Scheduling: Researches, updates and maintains a variety of customer information, service order, work order and compliance systems. This may include scheduling and tracking compliance or collections related service or inspection orders as well consolidating customer payments received at the local Division. May also serve as appoint of contact for field personnel.
Able to assist with certain functions of a Work Coordinator by answering call center calls, routing leak calls and distributing and scheduling workload to the appropriate field technicians as needed with the support of the Work Coordinator.

POSITION CONCEPT
The Energy System Operator position consists of three general functions: Transmission, Generation, and Interchange. Within each of these functions, the Energy System Operator has the authority to take the appropriate actions to ensure the stable and reliable operations of the Bulk Electric System, up to and including the shedding of firm load. The Transmission function involves monitoring, taking appropriate action and directing the switching/clearances on lines of 69KV voltage and above. The Generation function involves balancing resources to the load. The Interchange function involves arranging, scheduling, monitoring and accounting for all interchange transactions. The Interchange function also is responsible for evaluating and approving transmission service requests. All functions require directing the activities of other TEC personnel. The Energy System Operator must be able to successfully perform all three functions (transmission, generation, and interchange). PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Transmission Function
Monitor power system and respond to alarms. Direct switching activity of the transmission system and issue Clearances to work on tagged and grounded equipment.
Ensure rapid recovery from loss of transmission facility and stabilize the power system to prevent further decay of system. This includes shedding of firm load.
Monitor Advanced Applications and respond to contingency violations.
Generation Function
Review and update load forecast for next hour. Dispatch available generation resources to minimize production cost and maintain security of the power system.
Ensure rapid recovery from generation loss or loss of transmission facilities and stabilize the power system to prevent further decay of the system.
Monitor and control natural gas usage.
Scheduling Function

QUALIFICATIONS
Education

Perform light excavation with hand tools to expose buried utilities when necessary.

Build and maintain relationships with excavation contractors to reduce damages.

Lead and coordinate the activities of contract personnel, vendors, and manufacturing representatives to meet planned deliverables.
Interface with internal company groups as required (e.g. Environmental Health & Safety, Asset Management, and Procurement.)
Coordinate final project close-outs to include quality control, actual to budget accounting, deliverables and as-builts.
Manage project communications. Identify project stakeholders and keep them well informed; effectively facilitate regular project team meetings; deliver engaging, informative, well-organized presentations; resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion; and understand how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully. Ensure accurate project status reporting. Provide updates on cost, schedule, status, and critical items which may materially affect project performance or department or company operations. The Energy Authority (TEA) is seeking a Principal Advisor, Midcontinent Markets to ensure TEA's position as a recognized thought-leader and trusted service provider for advanced market solutions in the midcontinent, with emphasis on the Southwest Power Pool. This role is responsible for providing TEA and its clients with policy advisory, advocacy, analysis, and representation services on existing and developing regional energy, ancillaries, congestion, capacity, transmission, and carbon markets. The Principal Advisor will also support Account Directors and the Chief Client Officer in business development activities, which include identifying and engaging new prospects for business development both within TEA's existing client base and with new clients, providing subject matter expertise, and collecting/disseminating market intelligence.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Policy Analysis and Advocacy
Provide policy advisory, advocacy, analysis, and representation services for TEA and our clients on the following:
Existing and developing energy market structures such as the Southwest Power Pool Integrated Marketplace, Southwest Power Pool RTO Expansion, and/or the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (a.k.a., the SPP IM, SPP RTOE, MISO).
Existing and developing markets and associated regulatory requirements, rulemaking, and structures related to carbon and greenhouse gas emissions of electric utilities.
Emerging and developing structures and programs related to regional resource adequacy for electric utilities such as the Southwest Power Pool, Western Resource Adequacy Program and Midcontinent Independent System Operator.
Support TEA's Director of Portfolio Management, ensuring that TEA's portfolio management services meet the evolving needs of clients in regional energy, ancillaries, congestion, capacity, transmission, and carbon markets.
Actively engage in ongoing client education concerning regional energy and carbon markets.
Business Development
Support Account Directors and the Chief Client Officer in recommending new services that lower TEA's cost of service to its members.
Support Account Directors and the Chief Client Officer by participating in efforts to create marketing materials for specific offerings and presenting to clients.
Collect and disseminate market intelligence that helps inform TEA's marketing initiatives to prospective clients.
Provide subject matter expertise to TEA's business development efforts including assistance with trade shows, supporting development of promotion and educational materials, writing white papers, speaking at industry events, etc.
Leadership
Help identify TEA throughout midcontinent as an expert on regional markets.
Serve as a vocal ambassador of TEA and TEA's clients via physical or virtual presence during midcontinent stakeholder meetings. Provide written executive summaries and detailed notes from respective stakeholder meetings to TEA and TEA clients.
Provide regional markets subject matter expertise as a member of client portfolio management teams, including supporting TEA's Trading and Analytics groups in updating long-term and short-term trading portfolio management strategies to help meet client goals.
Assist with the development and implementation of TEA's strategic plan in midcontinent as it relates to regional energy, ancillaries, congestion, capacity, transmission, and carbon markets.
Other
Responsible for regular travel to client sites and industry events to establish, support, and maintain client and business development relationships.
This position involves ongoing Project Management responsibilities as described above.
