    Job DescriptionDescription: Founded in 1866, The Floating Hospital, is one of the last remaining charity hospitals in New York City. Our commitment is the same as it was 159 years ago: unrestricted healthcare to all who walk through our doors, regardless of identity, insurance status, or the ability to pay. We welcome individuals of all ages, from infants, school-age children (5+), youth and adults. The Floating Hospital is a Federally Qualified Health Center and the largest provider to homeless families living in family shelters and domestic violence safe houses throughout all five boroughs. Ā· Implements Patient Care protocols including vital signs, specimen collection, PPD placement and/or reading, hearing and vision testing as directed. Ā· Follows and demonstrates strict infection control guidelines to ensure proper clinic environment. Ā· Assists clinicians/providers during patient evaluations as needed, including acting as chaperone. Ā· Performs phlebotomy. Ā· Administers PPD's as ordered and as needed. Ā· Obtains and processes laboratory specimens, per protocols. Ā· Reviews chart prior to patient's departure for follow-up appointments, prescriptions and/or referrals. Ā· Communicates with Scheduling Department to coordinate health care for clients. Ā· Ensures that all patients have been assessed and have understanding of all instructions prior to leaving the clinic. Ā· Participates with clinical staff for in-service training, to ensure that nursing staff functions meet quality improvement standards. Ā· Attends supervision, conferences, and agency meetings as directed by Clinic Flow Manager. Ā· Implements recommendations from the Quality Improvement Team and Infection Control Committee, as requested. Ā· Disposes of medical and hazardous waste, as per OSHA guidelines and clinic protocols. Ā· Maintains temperature logbooks, medication inventory logs of lab and PPD log, quality control logs including for and CLIA-waived labs. Requirements: BACKGROUND AND EDUCATION Experience: 3 to 5 years' experience in the nursing profession. Experience working with ages from infants to adults. Education/Certification: Medical Assistant certification; appropriate certification in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Languages: Fluency in English. Spanish, Haitian Creole, French are preferred.
