Concrete Finishers are responsible for smoothing and finishing of poured concrete floors, slabs, walls, tilt-walls, elevated slabs, and site work to specified quality using hand tools or power tools to include floats, trowels, and screeds. All field and project site positions are considered safety-sensitive positions. “Safety-sensitive” positions includes tasks or duties that the employer reasonably believes could cause an impairment or decrease job performance, and where the employee has the responsibility for his or her own safety and the safety of people around them. Key Responsibilities : Smooths and finishes surfaces of poured concrete floors, walls, slabs, elevated slabs, and sitework Spread concrete to specified depth and workable consistency Levels, smooths, and shapes surfaces of freshly poured concrete, using straight edge, float, machine trowels, and/or power screed ( Riders, Laser screeds) Finishes concrete surfaces using power trowel; rub and patch concrete to meet quality standards Loads, transports, and unloads tools, equipment, and supplies required for each project Perform minor maintenance and cleaning activities with tools and equipment Responsible for observing and complying with all safety policies and guidelines Perform other duties as assigned Requirements: Must be able to adhere to all safety requirements Must be able to work safety in all surroundings, and with team members. Regular, timely, and predictable attendance is required for this position. Must be able to show up on time for Safety Pre-Task Planning. Perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. Must have excellent stamina. Ascend/Descend a ladders, scaffolding, or high structures. Move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. KEY RESULT AREAS (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS) Ensure proper IWP is in place and understood by their crew Examine blueprints to determine the dimensions of structure Lay out floor-plan and cabinetwork using tape, framing square and calipers Select materials and structural units, such as lumber, prefabricated doors, cabinets of wood or plastic, paneling, and inspects them to ensure conformance with provisions of building code and local ordinance Determine sequence of activities concerned with fabrication, assembly and erection of structure Assign workers to such tasks as cutting material to size, building concrete forms, erecting wooden framework, and laying flooring Inspect work performed by subcontractors including ductwork, wiring and pipe installations, to ensure conformance with specifications Install doors, builds stairs and lays hardwood floors Shooting grades and elevations Unload, handle, stockpile and erect of all pre-fabricated materials Order necessary materials in advance or before running out of supplies Concrete and rough carpentry: Hand set walls Footings Set gang wall forms Structural concrete decks Slab on metal deck and grade Concrete columns Drywall Finish carpentry, doors and hardware Set door frames, hang doors, and install hardware Finish carpentry: install toilet accessories, hand rails, corner guards, toilet partitions, lockers, upper cabinets, lower cabinets, countertops, wall paneling systems, coffered ceiling systems and running trim Train craft and foreman on job procedures Supervise crews - daily progress checks, verifying safety, quality and productivity Assign workers to required task for the day Verify timecards are filled out correctly at the end of the day Lead team members by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, and effectively manage performance Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels All other duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Ability to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy Ability to picture solid objects from drawings or diagrams Some ability to read plans Ability to operate equipment such as: table saws, radial arm saws, belt & disc sanders, drill presses, fall protection equipment, rigging and form systems Strong teamwork orientation Positive attitude and professional customer service skills Detail orientation Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Frequency codes: (A) Always, (F) Frequently, (O) Occasionally, (N) Never Frequency A - See (naturally or corrected) A - Hear (naturally or corrected) A - Traverse construction site daily A - Balance A - Manual dexterity A - Arm steadiness A - Dirt F - Heat/Cold F - Excessive noise A - Dust O - Grease/Oil O - Vibration F - Heights O - Confined spaces O - Sitting A - Standing A - Walking F - Crouching/Stooping F - Kneeling/Squatting F - Climbing A - Repetitive hand/arm/leg movements F - Lifting/Carrying Up to 50lbs O - Lifting/Carrying 50lbs+ F - Pushing/Pulling Up to 50lbs O - Pushing/Pulling 50lbs+ F - Reaching (high or low) *Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling over 50 lbs will be done with the assistance of another team member or equipment.
