Founded in 1977, Gordon Companies Inc. is a family owned-and-operated business located near Buffalo, N.Y. Gordon Companies includes Christmas Central, Christmas.com, Pool Central, Northlight and Dave’s Christmas Wonderland.
When Dave Gordon first went into business in 1977, he had one thing in mind: offering wholesale savings to families in his hometown of Western New York.
One of the most important accomplishments in PBI-Gordon history occurred in 1994, when a leveraged Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) was implemented and acquired a majority ownership position in the company.
In 1999, recognizing the strength that comes with diversification, PBI-Gordon acquired animal and human health product manufacturer Pegasus Laboratories, Inc., and PRN® Pharmacal, Pegasus’ animal health product brand.
With the success of Dave’s retail stores, the Gordon family entered the online retail arena with the launch of ChristmasCentral.com in 2004.
In 2014, David and his son, Nathan, further diversified their company by adding Pool Central – offsetting the seasonality of the Christmas business – and Northlight, a branded wholesale division found in major retailers across the country.
In 2020, Christmas.com was acquired and launched as an online marketplace for holiday decorations and gifts.
In 2020, the organization was restructured with the creation of a new holding company, PBI-Gordon Companies, Inc., to support the organization’s continued growth.
