MLL Teacher-Coordinator Job Description
Under direction of the school principal and/or appropriate supervisor, plans and provides for English Language Development instruction to students who have been identified as in need of ELD support by the district's language dominance entry/exit criteria. Manages the school's one-time language screening assessment and the annual language proficiency assessment, in addition to maintaining updated records in all necessary systems. In collaboration with all classroom teachers, accelerates the learning or acquisition of English and the academic content of math, language arts, science, and social studies in order for students to achieve academic success and classroom expectations. Implements all school MLL procedures and collaborates with the MLL Director and other MLL teachers. Serves as a resource for fellow educators in the sharing of information regarding multilingual students, research-based pedagogy and practices, and models an assets-based mindset toward multilingualism and multiculturalism. This role is highly collaborative and supports the integration of structures and systems across the school for MLLs to thrive.

Creates a classroom environment that provides for student involvement in the learning process and enables each student to achieve learning objectives
Plans and conducts activities for a balanced program of instruction, modeling and work time that provides students with opportunities to learn, observe, question, and investigate
Instructs students individually and in groups using various teaching methods such as peer cooperative learning, personalized and blended learning, co-teaching, etc.
Adapts teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests as well as language proficiency progress
Monitors and assesses student progress and adjusts student instruction accordingly by developing, selecting and modifying instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students
Instructs students in academic subject matter as well as social, emotional, and behavioral skill areas
Takes all necessary safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
Compliance
Supports the Principal, building leadership team, and district leadership team throughout the year with all procedures related to the identification, tracking, assessing, and monitoring of students identified as MLLs
Monitors and evaluates student outcomes, maintaining appropriate records and following all required procedures and practices
Manages the annual language proficiency exam and the one-time identification screener
Makes recommendations about appropriate accommodations for all types of assessments
Makes recommendations to staff about the types of accommodations, adaptations, special resources, courses, and classroom adjustments that are appropriate for each MLL student
Professional Development
Participates in district and school-based professional development activities
Continuously develops and evolves teaching practice and supports colleagues in their development through co-planning and/or co-teaching
Co-plans and facilitates MLL-specific school-based professional development
Promotes the mindset of shared responsibility for multilingual learners across all school staff, including all school leaders

THE ROLE
The primary responsibility of a Busser is to reset tables quickly and professionally as guests leave the restaurant while also ensuring the cleanliness of the restaurant and its perimeters. The starting salary range for this position has been established as:
$73,902 - $100,200

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The MRI Research Program Director is a high visibility position, is a key member of the executive team, and will lead the development, implementation and management of the vision, strategy and goals for the MRI Research Program. The program director will develop and implement a strategic plan for the MRI team that includes: new scientific and research opportunities; faculty, staff, post-doc, and student retention and career development; philanthropic opportunities and engagement; multi-institutional engagement to fully integrate the MRI team's needs/plans; coordination of a center-level grant submission and award to sustain the MRI research team's infrastructure; coordination of the recruitment of new mission-critical faculty, staff, post-docs and students to sustain the scientific strategic plan; and fiscal leadership of the existing grant awards and planned grant opportunities to ensure that funds are best used to meet the needs of the MRI research team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Serve as a key member of the MRI research leadership team. Work with the MRI faculty, staff, and trainees to define, build, and sustain a coordinated strategic plan for the MRI research team. The primary tenants of this strategic plan will include: a coordinated scientific plan across the funded and planned research projects of ~20 MRI research faculty that aligns with the mission and plans for CWRU and UH; an aggressive marketing and recruiting and career development plans for faculty, staff, and trainees to sustain the MRI research team and efforts; and define strategic interactions and activities between the MRI research team and industrial partners. Develop and coordinate faculty research interest and research funding opportunities, support faculty to prepare large collaborative, multi-investigator, and/or center-level (P-level) grant proposals to support imaging research, and serve as a direct point of contact for external sponsors. Facilitate collaborative interactions within and outside of the MRI research team by coordinating new and expanded technology development teams. (20%)
Anticipate the needs of the MRI research team and provide strategic advice on an ongoing basis. Make high-level decisions and suggest problem resolutions and procedures that best meet the short-term and long-term needs of the MRI research team. (20%)
Interact closely with leadership of the Departments of Radiology and Biomedical Engineering at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) and University Hospitals (UH) and external institutions to help engage physician scientists across the region. (10%)

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: 10 years of progressive professional and/or scientific experience required, preferably in a highly complex, matrixed organization such as an academic medical center, medical school teaching hospital, university central offices, and/or academic professional school. Must have strong demonstrable experience in developing and leading strategic plans which easily adapt to a higher education environment. Prior experience with direction and/or leadership of a science-oriented academic center in a university environment is preferred.
Education: A Master's degree in biomedical engineering or other related discipline is required; a Doctoral degree is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare and assemble faculty course materials and liaise with Columbia Housing to ensure access for instructors teaching in undergraduate residences.
Coordinates and sets up weekly meetings, and arranges all aspects of regularly scheduled faculty luncheons and special occasions; provides administrative support for the entire array of Core programming events including scheduling regular and electronic classrooms, and distributes information and publicity materials as directed. Assists with the acquisition of required texts for Core courses and the distribution of desk copies to instructors. Handles all logistics for weekly internal/external faculty speakers: writes, edits, and manages correspondence with faculty outside of Columbia; makes travel and logistical arrangements; and provides technical support. Supports the final exam for Literature Humanities and Frontiers of Science: assists exam committee with proofreading and editing; helps with exam scheduling and room assignments; and arranges printing and distribution of physical exams. Serves as liaison with the Office of Disability Services and with Columbia Athletics to provide any necessary accommodations for students taking the exam.
Serves as the first point of contact at the front desk of the Center for the Core Curriculum; provides students and instructors with information on registration policies and procedures; and distributes Core book loans to students.
Provides logistical support for the interview and selection processes for preceptorships and lectureships for Core courses, which includes processing applications and creating applicant files, updating recruitment databases, coordinating calendars with relevant committees, scheduling interviews and class visits, and corresponding with applicants. In collaboration with the Associate Director of Academic Affairs, Finance and Administration, assists in processing of reimbursements for instructors related to individual class outings and programs; processing honoraria and travel reimbursements for guest speakers.
Maintains and updates Core faculty email and contact lists for all Core courses (African Civilization, Art Humanities, Contemporary Civilization, Frontiers of Science, Latin American Civilization, Literature Humanities, and Music Humanities) and departmental communications, including 9 main listservs and numerous email list subsets. Prepares and distributes large mailings for all faculty.
Working closely with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Core Chairs, maintains and updates pages on the Columbia College website dedicated to the Core Curriculum, which includes maintaining and editing content and course materials for course instructors (e.g., uploading required documents and supplemental material, removing outdated materials) and performing monthly maintenance quality assurance checks on content links.

A Tutor provides students with tutoring and instructional support in an academic or occupational area of study to help improve their academic capabilities and progress academically, while promoting independent learning and self-reliance. Tutors assist tutees in developing and improving their competency in course work; and help students integrate and apply effective study skills, active reading and note-taking, test-taking strategies, and time management and organizational skills to their specific courses. Tutors work with students in various programs across the colleges, providing individual and small group tutoring in math, reading, writing, English, and other subject areas. Helps students develop positive attitudes toward learning and studying and helps students develop a high level of motivation in academic areas.
Assists students in achieving a better understanding of specific subject material and in improving academic capabilities in designated areas.
Helps students develop the study skills necessary for academic success.

Assists in designing and implementing class cooperative projects.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of a Bachelor's Degree or higher in the Creative Writing, English or Related Field. Consideration will be given to candidates who do not have a Bachelors degree but possess technical certification(s) necessary for the subject being tutored.
Possess excellent communication skills, and the ability to work with a diverse student body.
Must be self-directed and able to complete assignments in a timely manner.
