Starting at $26+/hr Available Shift: 1st Brief Summary Manage the cutting of tubing, scrap, and randoms from the mills to customer requirements or to stock lengths using the five saws in the department. The department is also responsible for operating the hydro test stand. The work is fast paced and repetitious based on the machine operated. Essential Functions: Bring in tubing bundles using side-loader and unload with crane or roll from racks. Cut tubing using one of two saws, out of a total of five, ensuring finished tubing conforms to production specifications, and that equipment maintains proper working order, such as blade sharpness, cutting speed, pressure. Debar cut ends with die grinder using proper protective equipment and bundle to correct size and to customer requirements. Maintain clean work area by placing bundles in designated areas, dumping scrap hopper in proper trailer, cleaning equipment, floor and desk, and recovering equipment. Maintain required product documentation by matching bundle tags, count, order number with correct production card, record production work completed on work orders, and record equipment information such as breakdowns, blade changes, tolerances. You will report to Production Supervisor and have no direct reports. Important Details You will operate band saws and rotating-head lathe machines to cut tubing according to specifications and customer requirements. The Lathe Operator is also responsible for using a die grinder to safely debur cut ends. It is also important to maintain required documentation with required information including counts, production reporting, work orders, equipment information, and records of any breakdowns, blade changes, and other information. The Lathe Operator is also expected to maintain a clean work area and place finished bundles in the proper designated area. Required Qualifications One (1) year relevant experience with mechanized production equipment. Mathematical skills - addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Skill in keeping accurate records, inventory, inspecting finished product for quality, and a strong attention to detail. Ability to read a tape measure, micrometers, and square to ensure tube length, gauge, & square. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to co-workers, supervisors, and employees from other departments within the division. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, production cards, simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to work independently with little supervision and meet production deadlines. POSITION/TITLE: Print Equipment Operator WORK LOCATION: Higginsville, MO POSITION REPORTS TO: Shift Supervisor WORK TYPE: ON SITE JOB SUMMARY: The Print Equipment Operator insures that he or she follows SQF; GMP's and work policies/procedures. Visually inspects operations and product on all assigned print lines to ensure that a food safe quality product is being produced at standard production rates with a minimum of scrap. He/she assures that the equipment is being properly maintained and that all area work and safety rules are being followed. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Adheres to all good manufacturing practices (GMP), food safety, HACCP and SQF process requirements; rectify and/or report any and all non-compliance to Management or the SQF practitioner immediately. Reports to all scheduled shifts and attends meetings as required Assures that all products being printed meet customer specifications and that only food safe quality products are allowed to enter the packaging bins by continually monitoring the quality of the products being printed and packaged. Stops the defects found, and corrects the problems with a sense of urgency. Ensures maximum production rates by diagnosing equipment problems and makes necessary repairs and adjustments. Preforms equipment changeovers in an efficient manner, making certain that all proper changeover parts are installed, and correct adjustments made to ensure a food safe quality production, and that the changeover is made with a minimum of equipment downtime. Cleans all changeover parts removed during a product change and returns them to the proper place. Tags any defective parts in need of repair. Ensures adequate supply of inks, labels, and bulk products are available to be fed to his/her assigned machines by monitoring its usage closely and procuring additional supplies as needed. Performs all daily preventive maintenance as required on the furnished preventive maintenance checklist. Communicates with the outgoing/incoming Working Forepersons to ensure coordination of shift activities. Maintains a clean and sanitary work area at all times. Reacts immediately to quality problems found by other team personnel by stopping the defect being made and correcting the problem. Advises the Working Foreperson when assistance is required. Works safely and considers the safety of others at all times. Participates in the training of new employees and upholds the training practices of the training program. Minimum Requirements: Minimum of five (5+) years heavy equipment operation experience in a construction environment, or maintenance division of road construction. Building of off-road vehicle tracks, road building or maintenance is a plus. Must be 18+ years of age Must possess valid driver's license High School Diploma required Ability to pass background check and drug screen Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate and prioritize work requirements for skilled trades Good written and verbal interpersonal communication skills. Strong PC skills utilizing Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Access and Project Software applications. Ability to work independently for periods of time without continual supervision. Must be willing to travel if need arises Strong attention to detail Self-starter with a “can do” attitude Strong mechanical aptitude and advanced working knowledge of heavy equipment Must have high values in ethics, integrity and adhere to strict confidentiality agreement Ability to operate heavy equipment in extreme conditions such as weather, terrain, etc. Job duties to include but not limited to: Prepare functional specifications and attend design review meetings to have a daily or weekly plan for progress and ability to complete off-road vehicle testing. Load and unload construction supplies Move materials used for test track with the use of a variety of sources from heavy equipment to small hand tools Material loading and unloading both manually & with the use of heavy equipment Complete grounds maintenance including but not limited to: Snow removal, landscaping, internal and external maintenance on shop structures, test track road grading, test track ground watering, fire hazard road maintenance prevention (brush clearing, dirt banks etc. In accordance with EPA, OSHA and other environmental and safety regulations, safely and efficiently operate including, not limited to the following heavy equipment as well as manual repairs throughout the test track and property: Excavators Backhoe Bulldozers Graders Wheel Tractor Scraper Trenchers Loaders Compactors Telehandlers Dump Trucks Water Truck Safely operate off-highway equipment to transport raw materials and/or finished products throughout the facility in a safe and efficient manner. Inspect Equipment. Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections and accurately completing daily mobile equipment reports and other relevant documentation. Maintain Equipment. Maintain equipment performance by checking vehicle fluid levels and adding correct fluids as necessary and assisting in performing other minor maintenance. Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings. Monitor the plant and operations and report any necessary maintenance or adjustments that may be required to ensure safety. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Inspect, clean, and perform operator level maintenance on equipment in accordance with standards. Closely interact with on site manager for movement of materials and equipment Follow related safety regulations, contract requirements, company policies, and operating procedures.
