The George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates (MFA), is seeking to fill full-time faculty positions in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine to work at the MFA, an independent, non-profit clinical practice group and/or the Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center, which serves the District's population, mainly in Wards 7 and 8.
Responsibilities include delivering excellent patient care and participating in administrative duties, teaching learners, and pursuing scholarly interests. Those with subspecialty expertise and/or fellowship training are invited to apply. Regular and Limited Service faculty appointments to these full-time, non-tenure track academic and community-based positions will be made at an academic rank (instructor, assistant professor, associate professor, full professor) commensurate with experience.

A pathologist's assistant provides anatomic pathology services under the direction and supervision of an attending pathologist. A pathologist's assistant is qualified to perform gross dissection, description, and submission of tissue specimens for surgical pathology examination, preparation of tissue specimens for intraoperative consultation/frozen section examination, and dissection and examination of organs and tissues during autopsy examination.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Perform gross dissection, description, and submission of tissue specimens for histologic processing and surgical pathology examination.
* Provide a detailed and accurate description of tissue specimens using an electronic dictation system.
* Perform gross dissection, description, and preparation of tissue specimens for intraoperative consultation/frozen section examination, including preparation of cryostat sections and smears/imprints and staining of slides for microscopic examination.
* Preparation and submission of tissue specimens and other biological specimens for special laboratory studies, including flow cytometric and molecular analyses.
* Perform dissection and examination of organs and tissues during an autopsy examination.
* Prepare for autopsy examination by obtaining patients' medical records and arranging radiographic examinations.
* Perform gross and microscopic photography of specimens.
* Participate in teaching pathology residents in gross tissue dissection and description techniques, intraoperative consultation/frozen section examination, and autopsy dissection and examination.
* Assist in the preparation of materials for educational conferences.
* Assist with departmental quality assurance/quality improvement activities and compliance with all CLIA, CAP, TJC, and DC DOH standards.
* Clean and maintain surgical pathology, autopsy, and other equipment.
* Perform duties relating to the administrative maintenance of surgical pathology protocols, procedures, reports, and data
* Assist in standardizing and implementing new protocols and procedures, as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
* Must be enrolled in, or have graduated from, a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists' Assistant training program for a Master of Science degree and must graduate before the hire date
* If a Physician, must have graduated from an ACGME-accredited Anatomic Pathology residency training program.
Licensure/Certifications
* If not a physician, a current and valid certification as a Pathologist Assistant from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is required. This certification must be obtained within 12 months of the hire date.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Obtains medical history and perform physical examinations

Hospital Specific: Performs daily hospital rounds; coordinate daily rounding with the EP physicians between scheduled procedures. Serve as the point of contact for in hospital EP issues. Maintain communication with the in-hospital EP physicians. Maintain hospital list, billing, and send in appropriate follow-up requests. Coordinate scheduling of inpatient EP procedures, AAD initiation and titration with both EP scheduling and EP physician team. Provide discharge education and outpatient follow up orders and practice needs
Office Specific: Maintains own schedule of approximately 15 patients in a day. An EP Physician is available on site for consultation and collaboration as needed. Types of patient visits: Pre and post procedure visits, antiarrhythmic drug monitoring visits, Urgent patient symptom calls, interrogation of CIED?s, interpretation of remote CIED transmissions, urgent add-ons/walk-ins, subcutaneous monitor consults, and all other routine Electrophysiology follow-ups. Office EP APP does not see new patients outside of subcutaneous monitor consults.
REQUIREMENTS:
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or Physician Associate Program (Master?s level of preparation preferred)
NP Credentialed by the ANCC (American Nurses Credentialing Center). PA must be certified by NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Associates)
BLS/CPR and ACLS certified
Licensed in State of Virginia
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Experience in Electrophysiology preferred. Experience in Cardiology recommended? preferably as an APP

To lead the development and coordination of the prior authorization team as they serve the GWMFA providers. Serve as a member of the Specialty Pharmacy team.

* Maintain effective onboarding and training procedures for team members
* Perform continuous quality improvement of prior authorization and pharmacy-initiated refill program
* Manage time and attendance, payroll, and PTO requests for the team
* Initiate prior authorizations for medications and work with providers on completion
* Confirm patient demographics are accurate and insurance information is correct
* Communicate with the clinical team and patients about prior authorization and refill status and provide updates accordingly
* Identify patient foundation assistance and manufacturer copay assistance programs
* Follow up with the pharmacy to ensure the medication is in process after approval was received
* Process prior authorization renewals
* Work with the provider to resolve prior authorization peer-to-peer reviews and denials
* Transcription of new prescriptions to patient profile
* Ensure correct third-party adjudication of specialty medications
* Communicate with nurses and patients about prescription order status and provide updates accordingly
* Communicate copays with patients before ordering medications
* Make sure that specialty medications with existing PAR levels are appropriately stocked
* Notify the patient when medication is available for pickup and/or schedule delivery
* Basic familiarity with proper medication dosing, use, and required monitoring parameters for specialty medications
* Perform refill reminders for patients on specialty medications and follow up with the prescriber if out of refills
* File all completed prescriptions in accordance with department standards
* At all times, maintain a courteous interaction with patients, visitors, departments, and medical personnel
* Compliance with all established personnel and departmental policies
* Preparation of prescriptions for pharmacist's review, following federal and local regulations (including labeling)
* Refer issues that require professional judgment to a pharmacist for follow-up

* Performs echocardiography which involves the ability to distinguish various cardiac structures and determine the quality of the tracings obtained.
* Performs advanced tests, such as 2-D and M-mode echocardiograms and Doppler studies.

The Department of Emergency Medicine, Innovative Practice maintains a 24/7/365 telemedicine and communications center. The purpose of this center is to coordinate and document care via telemedicine and facilitate the concierge and event medicine practice. Most calls are inbound from ships, aircraft, and remote sites/bases around the globe. In addition, the communications center serves as a single point of contact for our event and concierge medical practices.
We are currently seeking an Operations Specialist-EMT for all shifts. Night shift receives a differential on top of advertised pay band. The primary purpose of this position is to staff the communications center, however, this position can also be used to staff events for medical standby coverage.

Performs daily chart preparation ensuring that required documentation is prepared in advance to ensure efficient patient flow.

Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Minimum one year of experience in a receptionist position in a fast-paced environment
Medical office experience in a multi-provider office preferred
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
Computer proficient with good typing skills
Prior experience with the use of an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) preferred
Excellent customer service skills and positive attitude
Ability to multi-task
Detail oriented

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.
* Responsible for clinic patient flow, informing physicians of patients' arrival and room assignment.
* Accompanies and/or assists patients in the exam room in a professional manner.
* Obtains patient vital signs, including height, weight, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration. Pulse oximetry if needed.
* Able to perform using manual equipment and Welch Allen spot vital sign machine and import results to electronic medical record in a timely fashion.
* Assist physicians during examinations and procedures.
* May be required to take patient medical history if applicable per department.
* May perform a variety of testing, diagnostic, and screening procedures.
* Assists in explaining test procedures to patients.
* Medications ability to calculate dosages (may be required to demonstrate via passing yearly written medication exam).
* Administer medications (oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, intradermal, inhalation, rectal, topical) using proper technique - this duty can only be performed after the MA has demonstrated competency to clinic RN yearly, if applicable per department.

The Sleep Technologist II is responsible for providing high quality patient care while performing comprehensive polysomnographic testing, analysis, scoring, and associated interventions. This is lead position and includes performing sleep studies and sleep.

The Sleep Technologist II is RPSGT credentialed and is responsible for providing high quality care while performing comprehensive polysomnographic testing, analysis, scoring, and associated interventions.

* Make beds and insure cleanliness of facility.
* Review information in patient paperwork to include sleep/wake complaint and order to study.
* Greet patient upon arrival and escort him/her to sleep room. Educate patient and family concerning overnight/morning procedures, answering any questions. Interview patient to obtain information needed for completion of pre-test paperwork.
Qualifications
Education
* Must meet qualifications of a Sleep Technologist I and provide proof of RPSGT credentialing by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists.
* Must meet requirements prescribed by the American Association of Sleep Technologists (AAST) to maintain RPSGT credential.
* Must be currently certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
* Must obtain Washington DC medical license in polysomnography.
Experience
* At least 3 years medical related experience along with additional education in an AMA approved health-related program and experience as a sleep technologist, EEG technologist, respiratory care practitioner or nurse.
