Our Property Claims department is seeking Senior Outside Property Adjusters in the Southfield, MI territory. This is a remote Full-time/Exempt role with field investigations. Senior outside property adjusters handle property claims requiring field investigations and/or inspections. They must establish rapport with our insureds and maintain relationships with our agents, underwriters, contractors, restoration vendors, and experts. They are expected to know their territory, including the geography; regulations and the law as pertains to property claims; state and local public safety and regulatory agencies and officials; the insurance and legal climate; and public adjusters. Outside property adjusters may use a company claims office location as their base of operations, or they may work out of their homes.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
Handle complex personal and commercial property claims requiring outside field investigations and/or inspections.
Use discretion and independent judgment in claim handling.
Possess demonstrated technical knowledge and skills, including product and industry, reflective of successful progression through various job family levels.
Identify possibly suspicious claims.
Claims handled will be of greater complexity, severity, and exposures, including litigation, and will require a higher level of investigation, analysis, evaluation and negotiation including interpretation of commercial coverage.
Authority levels are higher in recognition of the higher proficiency associated with this level.
May be used as a technical resource by adjusters; may represent the company at mediation, arbitration and trials.
May be responsible for all aspects of each claim, including informal hearings, arbitrations, and claims litigation and maintaining a high level of productivity, confidentiality and customer service.
May provide training and mentoring to adjusters.
Assignments are broad in nature, usually requiring originality and ingenuity.

Ability to bend, walk, and climb for several consecutive hours while inspecting damaged buildings, often with utilities turned off or inoperable.
Ability to use a ladder safely to get onto and off of roofs, and maintain balance while inspecting roofs.
Ability to perform field work in adverse weather.

What Is the Opportunity?
Bond & Specialty Insurance provides management and professional liability insurance, as well as surety bonds to businesses and non-profit organizations of all sizes. As an underwriter, you will have a dynamic role that blends evaluating and analyzing financial and business risk, building relationships, and selling and negotiating with clients, agents, and brokers. This role is part of the Construction Services team which provides surety bonds to public and private owners of construction projects. Underwriters also analyze business operations, financial statements and evaluate market forces to provide consultative services to contractors.
The Associate Account Executive (AAE) will build relationships with agents and brokers to provide insurance or surety solutions to customers. An AAE will analyze and evaluate risk to achieve business goals within an assigned book of business. As an AAE, you are decisive, detail-oriented, and are learning to build relationships internally and externally to drive results. As you develop the ability to assess risk and sell our products, you will contribute to the profitability and success of Travelers.
What Will You Do?
* Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of a typically smaller assigned book of business.
* Underwrite and negotiate routine customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
* Partner with leadership, execute business unit underwriting strategies across your book of business to achieve profit and growth objectives.
* Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal partners within the business unit and across the enterprise to identify cross-selling opportunities.
* Foster and maintain relationships with external partners by regularly meeting in person with agents and brokers to market and sell Travelers products with a goal of writing and retaining accounts consistent with our risk appetite. Must be able to travel to such meetings.
* Identify and capture new business opportunities using consultative marketing and sales skills.
* Execute agency, region, and group sales plans with guidance from management.

1. Traditional Agency Program - At first, you begin working in our District Office where you will have extensive training and financial assistance available. The financial assistance package pays you up to $96,000 over 36 months in addition to your new business and renewal commissions. We will provide you the ability to build your own book of business and give you time to create a residual income for your own Agency prior to expanding to your own insurance office location.
2. Retail Agency Program - Step immediately into a branded retail location with a $10,000 office start up bonus, $5,000 in first year lead generation reimbursements and an enhanced commission structure for the first 3 years. Similar to a franchise, this is a program that is designed for experienced business owners. Individuals with a history of sales and management experience may also be a great candidate for this program. Qualified applicants would need to provide proof of liquid assets. This program offers a significantly higher than average bonus structure to offset business expenses.
3. Agency Acquisition Program - You may also acquire an existing book of business and start with a residual income right away. Agents are eligible for a $10,000 office start up bonus and an enhanced commission structure for up to 3 years.
4. Seed Program- There are situations where an agent has to retire unexpectedly and has not had time to put a succession plan in place. In these situations, the books of business are transferred to qualified candidates. The candidate receives the benefit of immediate revenue without the cost of acquisition while Farmers preserves the existing location. The candidate will receive an existing book of business to service and cross sell as well as $10,000 in an office start-up bonus.
The primary responsibility of the position is to drive and grow new business revenue. You'll manage client relationships to ensure that your clients' needs and requirements are met. This will require you to serve as their advocate within Farmers to provide them with a comprehensive portfolio of insurance solutions and options. Other exciting and fulfilling responsibilities include:
Developing base for long-term sources of clients by using our proven marketing systems, referrals, occupational, and special-interest groups to compile lists of prospects.
Determining clients' particular needs and financial situations by scheduling fact-finding appointments; determining extent of present insurance coverage and investments; ascertaining long-term goals.
Developing a coordinated protection plan by calculating and quoting rates for immediate coverage action and long-term strategy implementation.
