The Hartford Reinsurance value stream is seeking a Sr Data Engineer with strong knowledge of data engineering with On-Prem to cloud migration experience. This position gives opportunity to lead a multi-year Ceded Reinsurance Integration Initiative. This candidate will technically lead the program initiatives specific to Ceded Reinsurance and should be proficient in using techniques that enable a highly iterative delivery approach of continuous requirement identification and will focus on delivering effective business value as quickly as possible using application of agile practices, principles and lean thinking. This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office location (Hartford, CT; Chicago, IL; Columbus, OH; and Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Responsibilities: * Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to support reinsurance processing, actuarial analysis, and reporting. * Build automated data pipelines with tools like Airflow and MLflow that serve advanced statistical models and track key metrics. * Assess new data sources and techniques. * Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with various teams. * Consult with cross-functional team partners to understand business needs and develop reliable and effective solutions that are easily maintainable. * Use Enterprise GitHub for version control, documentation, code collaboration, and technical project management. * Regularly engage in continuing education, including the development of MLOps and Cloud Engineering skills as well as Insurance Business proficiency. * Present developments in data and analytics forums. Qualifications: * Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position. * Bachelors degree and 5+ years of experience with Informatica data pipelines and automation. * Knowledge of Ceded Reinsurance business is a must. * Experience in on-premises to cloud migration of data pipelines, modernizing them to leverage full cloud potential. * Proficient with Glue Job on AWS. * Experience using Gen AI solutions to automate data engineering pipelines preferred. * Proficient in at least one programming language, such as Java or Python. * Strong expertise in Systems Architecture. * 5+ years of deep practical experience in the role, with repeated experience performing business analysis in a variety of complex situations. * Working knowledge of the ProCede application suite or similar Ceded Reinsurance system is a big plus. * Experience in the conversion/migration of Policy/Claim Admin into ProCede or similar Ceded Reinsurance system. * Ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization (from entry-level end-users to senior management) and demonstrate strong leadership skills. * Experience working in multi-source offshore delivery centers and shared services environments is a plus. * Experience in Agile development, including prioritizing, creating/updating features and stories, and Test-Driven Development. * Able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams. * Strong experience with AWS Services (e.g., S3, EMR, AWS Batch, etc.). Hartford's Employee Benefits IT Team is seeking a highly motivated, experienced IT professional who is responsible for leading engineering teams to successfully drive the transformation of Employee Benefits application landscape. This is a hands-on technical leadership role, that will be part of an EB IT team partnering with value stream business to drive and achieve outcomes on a multiyear transformational program. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. * Minimum six years of experience in software development. * Proficiency in Java 17/21 and Spring Boot and Oracle. * Experience with RESTful APIs, J2EE, and JDBC * Hands-on experience with AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, and IAM. AWS Developer Associate and Cloud Practitioner certifications is a plus * Ability to apply and update IaC configurations for environment provisioning. Experience in Terraform is recommended * Experience with Jenkins, uDeploy, and GitHub for automation and deployment pipelines. * Exposure to Unix scripting is preferred. * Familiarity with Splunk dashboards, Dynatrace, secret scanning tools, and blue/green deployment strategies. * Experience with JavaScript, JSON, XML, and SQL. * Experience with Unit Testing Frameworks , Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD). * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously while meeting established deadlines. * Ability to collaborate effectively across various organizational levels and departments. * Self-motivated and detail oriented. * Able to work independently with little supervision and in a fast paced environment. * Highly adaptable to new technologies, environments, and business needs. Compensation The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
