Director & Actuary, Personal Insurance Pricing Analytics We are looking for a Director of Pricing Analytics to join our team and accelerate the transformation of The Hartford's Personal Insurance business unit. This position will lead a team of 5-7 analysts, and develop strategies to enhance the pricing accuracy, adequacy and growth for our countrywide portfolio of ~$4B in premium. A passion for innovation will be critical as we invest into our new Auto and Home insurance product supported in a cloud-based platform. In addition to rate review and filing responsibilities, we are looking for a creative trailblazer who can provide new perspectives while leading cross-functional teams to modernize our pricing data architecture, create advanced analytical pricing tools, and streamline processes. A passion for AI experimentation will be critical as we look to embed AI capabilities into daily workflows. A successful candidate will need excellent communication and influencing skills, as well as strong technical skills and actuarial acumen, with a track record for building and inspiring a high-performing team. Responsibilities: + Lead the analysis, design and implementation of state-specific class plan enhancements, such as introducing new coverages or rating variables. + Drive continuous action for profit improvement, policy growth and retention across a portfolio of highly nuanced states. Disrupt established practices while utilizing competitor and industry research to win approval for proposed changes. + Lead a team of 5-7 analysts, cultivating a positive culture and with a focus on attracting and retaining diverse talent. Invest in staff career development through coaching, feedback, stretch assignments and formal training. + Continuously challenge, improve and rebuild existing processes or tools to advance the team's pricing and analytical capabilities. Create practical use cases for standard AI tools and support investments in custom AI tools to reimagine workflows. + Increase the breadth and depth of pricing knowledge across Personal Insurance while mobilizing teammates to explore new data and analytical technologies. + Build strong partnerships and collaborate with State Product Managers, Actuarial, Data Science and other areas. Provide clear communication on project delivery and core pricing activities. Deliver all work on or ahead of schedule with high standards of quality and actuarial practice. Qualifications: + 7+ years of P&C insurance experience with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and fundamental understanding of ratemaking. + Experience leading and developing a high performing team. + Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with functional areas such as Product Management, Data Science, Underwriting, and Compliance; ability to communicate clearly and simply to a variety of audiences. + Strong time management, prioritization, delegation and project management skills. + Proven track record of challenging existing processes and influencing others in the spirit of continuous improvement. + FCAS/ACAS designation preferred. + Knowledge of SQL, R, Python, or other coding languages is a plus. Location: This role can have a Hybrid work arrangement in hub offices located in Hartford CT, Tampa FL or Columbus OH.
