This position drives profitable growth for The Hartford's $3 billion portfolio of Auto and Home products by analyzing and evaluating actuarial pricing performance at the state level, providing action-oriented solutions to Pricing and Product Management leadership, and supporting our rate filing process. We are looking for someone with strong statistical, analytical and communication skills, with a desire to challenge and continuously improve established processes and to creatively solve new problems.
Responsibilities
+ Independently develop key state performance metrics-including rate indications, trends, loss development patterns, and catastrophe loads-to support rate filings, performance monitoring, and profitability or ad hoc analyses.
+ Effectively communicate to secure internal and external approval for proposed changes.
+ Create and improve analytical tools utilizing knowledge of analytical and technical skills.
+ Develop and maintain strong partnerships with countrywide and state product management, technology, operations, data science, actuarial, compliance and legal organizations.
+ Participate in countrywide projects, class plan enhancements or maintenance of complex product features.
+ Work as a team to continuously improve the analytical capabilities of the organization, including data capabilities and increased automation, documentation, and quality measures.
+ May review pricing methodology for the department of insurance consideration
Experience & Skills
+ Bachelor's Degree required.
+ 3+ years of relevant experience in the insurance sector. Familiarity with Personal Lines products preferred.
+ Near ACAS or FCAS credential, or individuals with experience not pursuing exams.
+ Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively resolve complex issues.
+ Strong Excel skills required. Knowledge of SQL, VBA, R, Python, SAS or similar code languages preferred.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Attention to detail with strong time and project management skills.

Compensation

We are seeking a talented Special Investigator to join our Special Investigations Unit (SIU). This position will be based out of the Richmond, VA area. The coverage territory will be all of VA and Northern North Carolina. The ideal candidate for this opportunity will spend 100% of their time traveling within their assigned region to visit loss sites, interview witnesses, conduct recorded statements, take photos, and inspect physical evidence. Additionally, the candidate will investigate all lines of business to include Medical Investigations in Auto, Worker's Compensation, General Liability and Group Benefits as well as Property losses. SIU Investigators work in partnership with claim handlers across all lines of business to investigate suspicious claims. The Field Investigators performing investigations to provide information to the claims handler which will assist in the adjudication of the claim.
The mission of the SIU is to contribute to claims accuracy by building fraud awareness and investigating questionable claims. This position will report to the SIU Manager and will be responsible for conducting thorough, timely, efficient and impartial investigations to support the accurate resolution of insurance claims by the Company.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- This SIU Investigator will be responsible for assignments in Virginia and the Northern North Carolina areas.
- Assignments may include investigations directly referred by the claim
staff, or losses reviewed by the field investigator proactively which may
be appropriate for SIU Involvement. - The investigator is expected to have face to face interaction with parties to a loss, including insured, claimants, witnesses, experts, and other professionals on a routine basis. - Excellent interpersonal, communication and interview skills are required.- Investigative assignments may include claims with identified suspicious loss indictors, definable inconsistencies, or those which otherwise require a high-level investigative skill and/or local in person presence. - Effective time management skills, proactive execution of investigative plans, and flexibility are necessary to ensure the effectiveness of this position. - The investigator must understand and exhibit appropriate investigative behaviors and methods while conducting investigations, including development of the facts, due diligence around evidence collection and interviews.- The Investigator must be able to effectively communicate investigative findings orally and in writing. - The Investigator will also be responsible for understanding fraud trends within his or her area of responsibility and leverage knowledge gained to SIU analytical resources. - Independently complete investigations in accordance with The Hartford's core performance values and best practices with minimal direction.- Prepare and submit investigative reports detailing and documenting all phases of an investigation to assist in the resolution of the claim.- Recognize intelligence opportunities through active investigations and shares this information within SIU.- Interface with the SIU Community and Law Enforcement; including attendance of NICB and other industry meetings.- Continually enhance investigative skills and understanding of emerging issues impacting property and casualty and group benefit claims.- Provide support to claims partners and other departments within the - Company, which may include identifying training needs; participation in developing and presenting training and mentoring of external business partners and internal staff.

Our Risk Engineering Organization is currently seeking a Sr. Industrial Hygiene Consultant to support the Southeast Regions. Remote position; travel may include both car and air travel, estimated at 20%-40%.
This role is responsible for conducting Industrial Hygiene workplace evaluations for policy holders and fee-based customers as part of a comprehensive Risk Engineering service plan with targeted exposure evaluation and /or exposure reduction activities. Responsibilities:

What you'll do:

What you have:

Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and execute strategic legal defenses for Workers' Compensation cases.
* Manage a case load of between 90-100 cases in chief (including master and companion files)
* Conduct thorough legal research and analysis of complex issues.
* Draft and argue petitions.
* Represent clients in hearing, trials, arbitrations, and alternative dispute resolutions.
* Collaborate with Claims Partners to drive favorable outcomes.
* Participate in team huddles and claims file reviews to enhance legal strategy and client service
Qualifications:
* Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in the state of California, in good standing.

The Lead Graph Data Scientist - Identity Analytics is responsible for development and implementation of quantitative solutions that improve USAA's ability to detect and prevent identity theft, account takeover, and first party/synthetic fraud. These solutions will range from the development of machine learning models to broad implementation of solutions such as graph analytics to protect USAA and our Members from risks emanating from these threats. Strong candidates will be able to deploy the following work products and processes:
Develop and continuously update internal identity theft and authentication models to mitigate fraud losses and negative member experience from fraud application, synthetic fraud and account takeover attempts
Closely partner with Strategies team, Director of Fraud Identity Analytics and Director of Fraud Model Management and Model Users on model builds and priorities
Partner with Technology and other key collaborators to deploy a Financial Crimes graph database strategy, including vendor selection, business requirements, data needs, and clear use cases spanning financial crimes
Deploy graph databases and graph techniques to identify criminal networks engaging in fraud, scams, disputes/claims and AML and deliver highly significant benefits
Generate and prioritize fraud-dense rings to mitigate losses and improve Member experience
Identify and work with technology to integrate new data sources for models and graphs to augment predictive power and improve business performance
Exports insights to decision systems to enable better fraud targeting and model development efforts
Drives continuous innovation in modeling efforts including advanced techniques like graph neural networks
Develops and mentors junior staff, establishing a culture of R&D to augment the day-to-day aspects of the job

What you have:
