The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional communication skills, experience in data analysis, and strong SQL abilities to gather required data from various data sources. You will engage with a diverse array of business customers, including IT, Product, and Reporting partners across the enterprise. Job Description & Responsibilities: * Applies strong functional knowledge and elicitation techniques necessary to draw out data and analytics business requirements completely and accurately from stakeholders. * Work together with internal partners determine needs, gather requirements, and develop solutions for data assets and reporting. * Performs requirements planning, monitoring and requirements management. * Independently performs rigorous data analysis, data discovery and data profiling using industry standard querying tools (SQL) to support business requirements development that are complete, clear, unambiguous, well written and appropriate to audience. * Maintains data mapping documents, bus matrix and/or other data design artifacts that define business data requirements and transformation rules. * Act as liaison and advisor/consultant between the business and IT stakeholders providing thought leadership. * Lead responsibility in mentoring, instructing, assigning, directing, and checking the work of Business Data Analysts within their group. * Acts as a change leader to help and drive implementation of industry best practices. Qualifications: * 6+ years of experience in business requirements or data analysis preferably supporting the Insurance industry and data warehouse or reporting/analytic projects * Proficient in Industry Standard querying tools (SQL). Job Description Key Responsibilities: Evaluates information from multiple sources, provides recommendations, reconciles conflicts, cleans data into a consumable format and classifies the information into logical categories. Uses moderate to complex visualization techniques and skills to present findings of data exploration exercises. Maps the flow of data and the business processes and/or technical interfaces which would be created or impacted and recommends solutions/adaptations. Responsible for applying secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities. Documents the source to target mappings for data integration and web services. Ensures alignment with data quality and transformation rules and develops infrastructure and/or other tools to communicate mapping to relevant groups. Identifies and documents the sources of existing and new data. Works with enterprise partners to conduct complex data profiling using standardized tools. Key contributor in the creation or reviews conceptual, logical and physical data models and determines the most appropriate method to represent the data for business consumption/use. Performs data modeling across a variety of DBMS platforms and is capable of tuning the model for desired performance characteristics based on those specific technology platforms. Proactively consults and provides recommendations and direction on data needs. Manages data, performs analyses, interprets results, and provides insights and recommendations to internal clients Creates thematic maps, reports, charts, tables, and other analytic visualization to support business needs Ensures compliance with the Enterprise Data Governance policy and standards on information risk and data protection guidelines. Recommends and executes changes in data analytics; including methodologies, practices, and tools. May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Reporting Relationships: Reports to Manager/Director Data Leader. Typical Skills and Experiences: Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, business, statistics, math, a related field or comparable experience and education strongly preferred. Graduate studies in business, statistics, math, computer science or a related field are a plus. License/Certification/Designation: Certifications are not required but encouraged. Experience: Five to eight years of relevant experience with data quality rules, data management organization/standards or practices. Experience in statistical analysis, interpreting results in determining data quality and fitness. Wide experience using data quality results to determine whether existing sources of data are enough for business needs. Experience with recommending alternate data sources and data modeling. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus. Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Data application and practices knowledge. Solid decision making, oral and written communication skills. Ability to influence, negotiate and set priorities needed. Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
