Don't care too much about the CEO, but the regional VP and district managers to randomly pop in and treat us hourly associates with a smile and a hello.

How would you improve The Home Depot's culture?

They should listen to the input of us front line workers.

Pros of working at The Home Depot

Very kind and family like people at the labor force level. Good people working hard.

Cons of working at The Home Depot

1. Ageism. 2. Little concern for quality and service as it was years ago when professional people were hired. 3. Teaches people (customers) to steal with abandon. Flagrant disregard for consequences or accountability. 4. Understaffed by design to decrease costs and increase bonuses for managers. Sad. 5. Poor productivity is rewarded by ignoring the need for individual accountability in the effort to coddle lazy employees who don’t carry their own weight overworking productive employees to achieve the delta. 6. Fake and superficial examples of award for participation instead of genuine reward for real accomplishments.

The Home Depot Benefits

Insurance. Mediocre but serviceable.

What do you like best about The Home Depot's CEO and the leadership team?

Energetic but misguided effort that represents the minority of wealthy higher level employees.

How would you improve The Home Depot's culture?

Reverse the bonus attributes for success starting with the labor force instead of the management team. The real earners for the success of The Home Depot are the workers on the floor and not the managers in the offices. As us typical, the workers bonuses are as small as their salaries and the greatest benefit of bonuses for success are larger for the workers who contribute the least. Shameful.

How did you prepare for the The Home Depot interview?

Serious in-depth research and employee engagement in the stores. Communication with recruiters.

How does your compensation at The Home Depot compare to the industry average?

Poorly!

What's the diversity at The Home Depot like?

Acceptable but requires improvement.

What brings you the most joy at The Home Depot?

Helping people with solutions to their problems.

What do you like best about The Home Depot's CEO and the leadership team?

CEO is a non entity on the store level. visits from regional management is a joke, we call it the dog and pony show.

How would you improve The Home Depot's culture?

Home Depot has some great ideas but once they hit the store level they become watered down and ineffective. Make a rule and stick with it - collared shirts, no cell phones on the floor - which has become a major issue

How did you prepare for the The Home Depot interview?

Walked in and 10 minutes later walked out with a job. None of this "Tell me about a time when you..." All that does is ensure the biggest BS artist wins Go back to the old days of interviewing, on the spot with a couple of simple questions. Half the time new associates aren't a good match regardless of the lengthy process

How does your compensation at The Home Depot compare to the industry average?

Having been with them for 25 years, it took me all of those years to triple my salary from my starting wage of $10/hour, which back then was great, now they pay like every one else

What's the diversity at The Home Depot like?

Why have we never had a women as CEO? Says it best right there
