The Homestead history
The Homestead company history timeline
A Michigan family purchased the resort in 1975 and spent a year researching and planning.
1989: The Homestead joined Historic Hotels of America as one of its charter members.
Founded in 1992, KSL Resorts owns and operates iconic destination resorts.
In 1993, Club Resorts, a part of ClubCorp acquired The Homestead and began a total restoration.
1993: After more than a century of ownership, the Ingalls family sold The Homestead to Club Resorts and its parent company, ClubCorp, Inc.
2001: The resort unveiled a series of new luxurious facilities, including the Grand Ballroom and the Shooting Club House.
In 2006, KSL Resorts acquired management of The Homestead.
In 2012, "The Next Chapter" was launched with the addition of Allegheny Springs– a new children's play zone, family pool, 400 ft. lazy river and water slides, in partnership with the Canyon Ranch Spa Club.
On July 1, 2013, the resort joined the Omni Hotels & Resorts family and is now known as The Omni Homestead Resort.
Turkel was designated as the 2014 Historian of the Year by Historic Hotels of America, the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
In 2016, The Omni Homestead Resort celebrated 250 years as America's first resort.
