What You Will Do • Identify and conceptualize primarily robotic and at times other forms of automated solutions to drive improvements in safety, ergonomics, quality, productivity, and cost reductions throughout the Machine Division. • Coordinate with vendors to quote and size automated systems. • Manage projects from start to finish including Capital Appropriation Requests with project budgets, savings, ROI, timelines, runoff criteria, status reporting, system implementation, and all other project details. • Program robotic systems, provide support and troubleshooting of existing robotic systems. • Design customized fixturing and workholding for automated systems using Solid Edge. • Create procedures, documentation, routings, and other necessary documentation for the manufacturing process. • Collaborate and communicate cross functionally with all levels of the organization including but not limited to pieceworkers, R&D, QA, Supply Management, production departments, and executive management. • Serve as the technical expert in robotics. Education & Experience Requirements • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in Engineering or related discipline. • Minimum 8 years professional and on hands experience with robotic systems. Working Conditions/Environment Works in a laboratory and manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, read, sit, stand, walk, climb, crouch, lift, reach, grasp and bend while moving about the facility. Requires some lifting of moderately heavy items such as test equipment and product cases. Must be able to stand for an 8-10-hour shift (sometimes longer) with regular breaks while performing repetitive tasks. May be required to work overtime and / or weekends as needed. The employee may be exposed to non-ambient temperatures, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts / equipment, and handling hazardous testing and sanitation chemicals. The Noise level in the lab is moderate and loud in the plant. Ear protection, eye/face protection, hair/beard nets, steel-toed/slip-resistant shoes, and gloves are required as necessary in accordance with company GMP and safety standards. * Bachelor's degree in food science, Microbiology, or related field: or 2 years' experience. * Ability to work cooperatively with a team. * Strong oral and written communication skills and computer skills required. * Start time 7:30am work 8hrs or up to 12hrs with over time. * Basic science skills; math, accurate data collection, general lab, and computer data entry. * Dependable and timely. * Fundamental written and verbal communication skills. * Capable and willing to follow detailed instructions and specifications. * Capacity to learn tasks and supporting methods. * Ability to work independently on pre-assigned task. * Multi-task, organize job tasks and the workspace. * Basic Understanding of the key testing attributes measured daily in the job Follows Work Practices in Quality Assurance Manual. * Reports processing problems or potential problems immediately to Production Supervisor and QA Manager. * Reports packaging line problems or potential problems immediately to Production Supervisor and QA Manager. * Collects retain samples at prescribed frequency and maintains samples in an organized fashion. * Maintains adequate inventory of lab-prepared colors and flavors. * Maintains lab work area in a clean and orderly fashion. * Performs calibration of lab equipment when assigned. * Monitors critical control points (CCPs) for PH, water activity and metal detection. * Follows and maintains awareness of the plant Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and reports anything which might have a negative impact. * Follows Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs) established by QA Manager and Safety guidelines established by plant management. * Ensures quality, food safety 5S, OSHA, and HACCP support programs, assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards. * Participates in activities related to Marzetti Operational Excellence. * Any and all other duties assigned due to business needs.
