Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the NursingTechnician delivers patient care utilizing the Relationship-Based Care model as a framework. The NurseTechnician provides care and takes initiative to improve patient outcomes by supporting Shared Leadership, Evidence Based Practice, Relationship Based Care and standards of nursing excellence in clinical practice. Through therapeutic relationships with patients, families, self and colleagues, the NurseTechnician functions as an interdisciplinary team member who provides patient care and fulfills unit and organizational goals.
Duties & Responsibilities
Complete the "Core Skills Assessment" upon hire. Flexibility in supporting both pre- and post-operative care needs. Set up patients' rooms for transfers or admissions and remove equipment/supplies upon discharge. Assist with patient transport and discharge as assigned, ensuring that all patient belongings go with the patient Set up and ensure compliance with isolation precautions. Ensure compliance of UI Health infection control guidelines. Orient patient and family to room including but not limited to explaining visiting hours, bed functions, use of television, telephone, and call light. Assist patient and family members with information and/or concerns of admission/stay. Inspect patients for any abnormalities or changes on skin and notify RN. Provide care for incontinent patients, promoting skin integrity and utilizing appropriate products. Monitor and reinforce use of incentive spirometer, deep breathing and coughing. Measure and document all vital signs, including weight and height, in EHR and alert RN of any abnormalities. Respond to patient call lights in a timely manner. Apply simple dressings as directed by the RN. Maintain oxygen therapy as directed. Prepare patients for diagnostic and therapeutic tests as directed by the RN. Maintain fall precautions, including bed alarms. Operate patient care equipment such as SCDs, pulse oximeters, specialty beds, weighing devices, and cardiac chairs following safety precautions. Empty drains and documents amount and color of drainage in the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Perform range of motion, assist with patient mobilization (chair, transfers, turning and ROM). Safely collect and label all patient's specimens, including sputum, urine, and stool. Perform Point of Care testing as assigned. Assist patients with meeting hydration and nutritional needs. Record intake and output amounts, perform calorie counts, and provide meal supplements. Position patient for oral intake to prevent aspiration as directed by the RN. Consult with RN on assignments given and contributes to the patient's plan of care. Perform a.m. or p.m. care, including back rubs, oral hygiene, making occupied and unoccupied beds. Prepare patient for operating room, assists with bed baths, and assists patient with other activities of daily living. Monitor and reinforces fluid restrictions as directed by the RN. Reinforce patient teaching provided by a nurse. Act as a patient/family advocate by providing comfort, assistance and information. Provide feedback to RN on patient care and condition as directed. Other duties as assigned.Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
* High school graduation or equivalent
* Possession of a CNA license from an accredited institution/school/program. Illinois Department of Public Health - Health Care Work Registry

Position Summary
The Medical Assistant (Certified/Credentialed) is responsible for assisting in the daily activities of the UICOMP women's health clinic operation, performing a variety of clinical and clerical functions in a medical setting. Generate and compile statistical and operational reports, including patient volumes, provider caseloads, and service utilization data. Collaborate with the care team to ensure a positive patient experience and smooth clinic workflow. Provide compassionate and efficient clinical support under the direction of the physician and nurse within the clinic. Escort patients to exam rooms, ensuring comfort and privacy throughout the visit. Obtain and accurately record vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, height, weight, pulse, and respirations. Review and update patient medications, allergies, and reason for visit in the electronic health record (EHR). Alert the provider to any abnormal findings or concerns identified during patient intake. Prepare exam and procedure rooms, maintaining cleanliness, restocking supplies, and properly handling soiled linens according to clinic protocols. Assist with inventory management by receiving, organizing, and tracking medical and office supplies to ensure efficient clinic operations. Accurately enter provider orders into the electronic health record (EHR) in accordance with institutional policies, including orders for medications, laboratory tests, and diagnostic imaging. Coordinate communication between departments by dispatching messages and scheduling appointments for patients referred to other services or healthcare facilities, as directed by medical staff. Minimum Qualifications

* Possession of a current/valid medical assistant certification by an approved certifying board as defined by the employing institution
Preferred Qualifications
Phlebotomy training or certification preferred.
Experience working with the Epic EMR preferred.
Skill in performing venipuncture preferred.
Skill in operating diagnostic equipment such as diabetes monitoring devices and urinalysis equipment preferred.

Promotes, has knowledge of and utilizes appropriate patient care protocol relating to the physical, psychosocial and developmental needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
Intraoperative Care:
Assists the Intraoperative Care Team while adhering to principles of sterile technique. This includes but is not limited to:
Setting up and changing suction canisters.
Verifying all equipment is present where needed and ready for use, including sterile supplies.
As requested, delivers additional supplies and equipment to the OR during the operative procedure.
Practices within Infection Control policies and procedures.
Properly and safely handles contaminated instruments in regards to storage and transferring to designated areas.
Transportation of red and yellow containers to a central location on the floor.
May be asked to move these longer distances in emergency situations.
Properly transports blood products within the GOR/DCAM Care Centers.
Properly transports patient specimens with the GOR/DCAM Care Centers.
Education/EQI:
Assists with orientation of new employees, agency personnel and employees reassigned to the area.
Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement projects as directed by the Specialty Manager.
Performs other duties as requested by senior management
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or the equivalent is required.
Surgical operating room experience preferred.
Previous work that required organizational skills and ability to work in stressful environment.
Reading comprehension and math ability at 6th grade level.
Ability to successfully complete departmental certification program including sterile technique, case supply selection according to pick sheet and use of Optime Operating Room data management software system.

Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the NursingTechnician delivers patient care utilizing the Relationship-Based Care model as a framework. Position Summary
The Medical Assistant (Certified/Credentialed) is responsible for assisting in the daily activities of the Positive Health Solutions clinic operation, performing a variety of clinical and clerical functions in a medical setting. Takes and records vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, height, weight, pulse and respirations. Assess medication adherence. Reviews medications and allergies. Document reason for visit and screening tests, such as Colonoscopy, Mammogram, Pap Smear for which the patient may be due. Notify provider of any abnormal vital signs observed while rooming Records and administers prefilled vaccines following a provider's orders. Performs phlebotomy. Restock supplies in exam rooms. Performs in-direct patient care tasks such as the following: Per institutional policy, enters orders into the EHR, following provider orders; requisitions of laboratory tests and procedures, such as medicines, laboratory, and radiology. Communicate with patients regarding scheduling for screening.
