Position Summary
Staff Nurse I is accountable for the delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process and Relationship-Based Care model as the framework. The Staff Nurse I provides direct patient care and takes initiative to improve patient outcomes by integrating Shared Leadership, Evidence Based Practice, Relationship Based Care and standards of nursing excellence into clinical practice. Through therapeutic relationships with patients, families, self and colleagues, the Staff Nurse I functions as an interdisciplinary team member who provides quality patient care and fulfills unit and organizational goals.

Shares information and collaborates with other members of the health care team to promote effective patient care. Verifies and implements orders from physician, physician assistant and/or advance practice nurse by performing interventions as prescribed by the provider and documenting accurately in the electronic medical record. Engages and obtains information from patient and/or family to develop an appropriate patient educational plan. Recognizes symptoms, establishes priorities, and responds to patient's changing needs. Engages support personnel by delegating appropriate tasks per the Illinois State Nurse Practice Act and provides support and feedback. Advocates for patients, families, and their significant others, the community, and the nursing profession. Integrates theoretical knowledge, evidence-based research, current standards of practice and clinical experience to provide "quality" patient care as measured by established nursing quality standards and other governing/accrediting health care bodies. Assumes role of Charge Nurse when assigned, utilizing appropriate resources and tools. Collaborates with other nurses to identify, promote, and provide positive learning experiences for staff and students. Serves as preceptor and/or resource to other nursing, support staff and students. Takes responsibility for continued professional growth/development by identification of learning needs and initiates strategies to meet such needs. Minimum Qualifications
* Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
* Current AHA BLS/CPR and other required unit specific certifications
* Effective communication skills (oral and written) that facilitate therapeutic relationships between patients, family, and health care providers
* Intermediate computer skills with the ability to become proficient in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) with on-the-job training
* Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills and work history required.

Required Qualifications
Associate Degree in Nursing; BSN degree or higher preferred.

Due to the complex nature of pain, RN will evaluate and treat pain in a prompt, caring fashion and reassess after each intervention, charting per UCMC protocol
RN maintains hospital required nursing & ICU unit specific competencies needed to provide proficient nursing care; RN will provide continuity of care for infant, pediatric or adult patients based on area of specialty. This includes assisting in the care of critically ill patients during sedation/procedural encounters. Administering high-risk infusion and transfusion (i.e. chemotherapy medicines)
Contributes to the Patient Services Sector/Outpatient Services Sector offering constructive suggestions for change and participating in the planning, implementation and evaluation of new and existing programs utilizing evidence based practice
RN uses nursing knowledge to anticipate and plan for patient care needs. The RN understands and applies safety principles and serves as a resource to other healthcare personnel on patient care. RN knows the potential risks and complications from specialty procedures and can assist in the initial treatment of adverse effects in their area of expertise
Required Qualifications
Associate Degree in Nursing; BSN degree or higher preferred.
Associate Degree Nurses are required to enroll in a BSN program within six (6) to nine (9) months of hire, and make progress toward and complete their BSN degree within 30 months. ADN nurses receive 100% tuition reimbursement towards a BSN degree from an accredited program.

Position Summary
We are seeking a full-time Clinical Research Nurse Project Coordinator (BSN-prepared, IL-licensed RN) to support a federally funded Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) focused on neonatal health. This role is pivotal to the efficient and ethical execution of the Study and requires an experienced, detail-oriented Nurse with strong clinical and organizational skills. The ideal Candidate will have experience in Neonatal, Mother/Baby, or Pediatric care and fluent in Spanish.

Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination and Management:
* Develop and maintain the Study timeline, ensuring that all milestones and deliverables are met on schedule.
* Coordinate the daily operations of the Study, including participant scheduling, data collection, and intervention administration.
* Manage communication among the Research Team, participants, and other stakeholders, facilitating regular meetings and updates.
Participant Recruitment and Screening:
* Identify and recruit eligible participants based on the Study's inclusion and exclusion criteria.
* Conduct initial screenings and coordinate baseline assessments, ensuring a smooth onboarding process for participants.
Informed Consent Process:
* Oversee the informed consent process, ensuring that participants fully understand the Study procedures, risks, and benefits.
* Document the consent process in compliance with IRB guidelines and GCP standards.
M-MILK Intervention Administration and Monitoring:
* Implement the Study protocol as outlined.
* Continuously monitor infants for adverse events or complications and report any issues to the principal investigator and Study team promptly.
Data Collection and Management:
* Collect biospecimens, i.e., saliva and buccal samples and ensure safe transfer of biospecimens to the Laboratory.
* Collect and manage all primary and secondary outcomes as well as covariates of the Study, including chart extraction of clinical data, administration of questionnaires, recording observations
* Enter data into the Study database.
* Prepare biospecimens shipment for safe transfer to collaborating laboratories.
Standardization, Quality Control and Data Integrity:
* Obtain specialized training in outcome evaluation techniques and the specific assessment tools used in the Study. This training will ensure that the Clinical Research Nurses are fully prepared to conduct evaluations according to the Study protocol.
* Participate in regular calibration sessions with other Study personnel to ensure consistency and standardization in data collection methods.
* Utilize standardized assessment tools and protocols to ensure consistency and reliability in data collection across all participants.
* Implement intervention fidelity and integrity checks.
* Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality throughout the Study period.
* Implement quality control measures and reliability checks to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the data collected. This includes cross-checking data entries, verifying measurements, and maintaining detailed records of all assessments.
* Ensure that all data is entered and stored correctly in the Study database.
Training and Supervision:
* Train and supervise research staff and students involved in the trial, providing guidance on Study procedures and protocols.
* Ensure that all team members adhere to the Study protocol and ethical guidelines.
Participant Support and Retention:
* Provide ongoing support and education to participants and their families, addressing any concerns and facilitating their continued participation in the Study.
* Ensure that participants are comfortable and informed about the study process, enhancing their overall Study experience and promoting retention.
* Develop strategies to enhance participant retention and minimize dropout rates.

Coordination with Research Team:

In conjunction with the University of Chicago Medicine's mission to provide superior health care, the Specialty Nurse Intern is a nursing student who provides patient care in specialty areas under the direction of a registered nurse. The Specialty Nurse Intern provides care to patients and their families by assuming defined patient care responsibilities and by performing specific clinical skills appropriate to the role.
In this year-round internship, students will be matched with the Adult Emergency Department for the duration of the academic program. The formal Nurse Internship program will last throughout the entire academic year. The expectation is to continue working throughout the entire academic year with flexible scheduling. It is the expectation that these candidates will work at UCM in the identified clinical area for 2 years following graduation.

2025 Specialty Nurse Intern Program - Adult Emergency Department Full-time, Day Shift & Night Shift Available In conjunction with the University of Chicago Medicine's mission to provide superior health care, the Specialty Nurse Intern is a nursing student who provides patient care in specialty areas under the direction of a registered nurse. The Specialty Nurse Intern provides care to patients and their families by assuming defined patient care responsibilities and by performing specific clinical skills appropriate to the role.
In this year-round internship, students will be matched with the Adult Emergency Department for the duration of the academic program. The formal Nurse Internship program will last throughout the entire academic year. The expectation is to continue working throughout the entire academic year with flexible scheduling. It is the expectation that these candidates will work at UCM in the identified clinical area for 2 years following graduation.

Minimum Qualifications

* Must have Labor & Delivery RN experience minimum two years.
* Basic EFM training/certificate required prior to completion of orientation.
* Ability to obtain AWHONN intermediate/advanced fetal monitoring certification

Minimum Qualifications
* Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
* Current BLS/CPR certifications.
* Current Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Certification prior to hire.
* 1 year of child and youth nursing experience required.
* 1 year of Oncology and Infusion Nurse experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
* 1 year of Ambulatory oncology and infusion experience preferred.
* National certification preferred.
