Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Unit Population: Cardiac and Pulmonary patients (ventilator experience required) Schedule Requirements: * Every other weekend * Holidays as needed per unit * Float as needed to PCU, IMC, or Med-Surg Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: * PCU: 1:4 * IMC: 1:3 (ventilator experience required) * Med-Surg: 1:5 * Facilitates and coordinates programs involving hospital inpatients, outpatients, families, community members, and employees of both the hospital and university. Care is delivered using evidence-based practices aligned with Johns Hopkins Hospital policies, procedures, and protocols. * Provides leadership and direction to other team members to promote quality, safety, and excellence in patient care. * Collaborates with and leads multidisciplinary healthcare teams to support program initiatives focused on quality, safety, and clinical excellence. * Participates in identifying and promoting quality improvement initiatives-clinical, financial, and operational-within the specialty area. * Initiates and participates in research activities relevant to the specialty. * Implements specialty-specific initiatives as directed by nursing and medical leadership. * Fosters a clinical environment rooted in service excellence. The Patient Care Tech Intern works under the supervision of a nurse and taking into consideration the developmental needs of the patient, performs routine patient activities and delegated patient care procedures of a specialized and technical nature as competency documentation designates. The Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPCU) is a 32-bed adult inpatient surgical unit. The unit offers 3 levels of care: floor, telemetry, and intermediate care for acute cardiac, vascular, and other surgical patients requiring cardiac monitoring. Care and services provided: coronary artery bypass, Heartmate II or III & Heartware mechanical circulatory support devices, valve replacement or repairs, Type A & B aortic dissections, fem-pop bypass, scalenectomy, TAVR, heart or lung transplantation.
