The Patient Representative works in conjunction with the Nursing staff and administrative staff to provide the highest level of Customer Service for the Emergency Department. The Patient Representative must be proficient in hospital services, policies and procedures. Daily task will include, but are not limited to, greeting patients, assisting in directing the flow of patients and visitors, being a source of information to patients and visitors in the waiting room, de-escalating situations as required, providing emotional support as needed to family members and patients.

Under the direction of the department manager leads safety and quality initiatives, focuses on and simplifies workflow, and contributes to the development of staff. Department/Position Overview:
Sentara Leigh Hospital Intensive Care Unit, AACN Gold Beacon Award recipient, is comprised of 20 licensed critical care beds and has an average daily census of 18 patients. Staffing ratios vary and can be 1:1 to 1:3 with 1:2 being the usual assignment.
The ICU RN's are required to have a wide array of knowledge, skill and ability to competently and safely provide critical care to our patients. Frequent ongoing education, new skill acquisition and skill validation are provided and supported by an experienced ICU CNS for new and experienced ICU nurses. Newly hired RN's will have between 2-14 weeks of orientation depending on prior experience. Our preceptors are purposely selected for their teaching ability and formally trained to meet the training needs of new staff. Specific attention is provided for new graduate ICU RN's as they participate in our Vizient AACN Nurse Residency Program and AACN's essentials of Critical Care Orientation online education. Experienced RN's are encouraged and supported with educational and financial assistance to achieve critical care certification.
ICU staff are supported by an interdisciplinary care team which in part includes unit based respiratory, physical, speech and occupational therapists. Interpreter, nutrition, palliative, chaplaincy and ethical services are readily available as well. Our ICU has onsite and eICU pulmonary critical care intensivists and their team of physician extenders 24/7. Physician lead, nurse driven interdisciplinary rounds are held daily for continuity of care and to address nursing's concerns or questions. These rounds are made educational and even fun at times by our very engaged intensivist MD's.

Reschedules and cancels patient appointments as necessary. Communicates with the patient in a positive and encouraging manner when rescheduling is necessary.
Demonstrates exceptional listening skills via telephone; able to interpret subtle indications such as tone of voice, hesitations, or incomplete responses.
Monitors incoming texts, Live Chat messages, and appointment reminder software to ensure there are timely and accurate responses.
Must be able to meet outlined productivity goals each week while working in a fast-paced environment that requires the ability to multi-task.
Must be proficient at using dual monitors and multi-line phones while navigating at least three software programs simultaneously; proficient at typing quickly and accurately.
Successfully complete assigned call center school training and other company assigned trainings.
Performs other duties as assigned.

DME/HME Billing Specialist II

We are seeking an experienced DME Collection Specialist II with specific durable medical equipment (DME) or home medical equipment (HME) billing experience. This role requires advanced proficiency in DME/HME billing and collection practices, including knowledge of HCPCS codes, Medicare DME guidelines, and supplier standards. You'll work independently to secure payments from insurance payers for medical equipment services. Consumer credit card or general collections experience does not qualify for this position.
You'll follow up on accounts receivable, work with multiple payers to resolve complex billing issues, and process adjustments and appeals according to payer guidelines. Additional duties include resolving credit balances, maintaining accurate documentation in billing systems, training other staff members, and participating in audits and special projects.
Required Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (College preferred)
Experience: 2+ years in DME/HME billing and collections. Experience with CPAP, oxygen therapy, wheelchairs, hospital beds, or other durable medical equipment billing. Advanced knowledge of Medicare Part B and DME MAC guidelines, HCPCS coding, supplier enrollment requirements, medical terminology specific to durable medical equipment, intermediate to advanced Excel skills, and strong communication abilities.
* We are specifically seeking candidates with healthcare billing experience rather than consumer collections or general accounts receivable.
Hybrid: Remote 3 to 4 days a week. Must live within driving distance of Baltimore, MD.
